The idea of mixing an RPG with a sports game might not be unique – Golf Story got there a long time ago – but Japanese indie studio ArticNet is giving it a try regardless.
RPGolf Legends is set in a fantasy world where all of the golf holes have been sealed up. You must join forces with "the spirit of a golf club" and "embark on a fantastic action-golfing adventure to save golf in the world".
There are 54 holes set across six unique environments, and you'll be able to play tournaments and matches against various NPCs. As you'd expect from an RPG, there's a class system with "unique skills" and you'll be able to explore a massive open-world environment "full of characters and different quests to complete". Crafting is also part of the experience, as are your typical RPG dungeons.
RPGolf Legends launches globally on the Switch eShop on January 20th, 2022, and will cost USD 29.99 / EUR 29.99.

I am very interested. I have been patiently waiting for Sports Story. This looks to be a fun game to play in the meantime.
Holey Mother, yes, I hate Golf in the real world, but love 2d golf games. Golf Story was brilliant and still waiting on Sports Story.
I will definitely pick this up if physical
Colour me interested. Loved Golf Story.
Looks fun, and also that bass is super groovy in this introduction movie.
I've had this preordered for months now. Looks great and it's nice to see something with the Kemco name on it that doesn't look like a generic RPG Maker game.
Why golf again and not something original? I mostly enjoyed Golf Story though.
This is crazy, I thought golf story was peak of it's craft (in concept only). Hope it turns out well!
Looking good, well Kemco seems to be pulling through with the quality on this one. For once they are starting to get away from that Ljn status of RPG development.
This looks fun, but €29.99 seems really expensive
Wait, a Kemco game that doesn't feature generic D&D characters on a generic D&D quest in a generic D&D world? Did I just jump universes?!?
Adding this to my wishlist. Looks nice.
It’s a kemco game so it’ll be a miracle if the game even functions!
Nice try Kemco but I'm not falling for it
With Kemco's track record, I'm not sure I want to bother, ESPECIALLY not for $30.
Is that the music that's in the game? If so, there's no way I'd be able to play this game. It sounds like bad eighties Italian disco music, which has nothing to do with a whimsical RPG.
Golf and RPG aye? Sounds like puzzle RPGS.
People didn’t think that would work and now look how many puzzle RPGs are out there.
And for everyone worried about the game it reads that articNet is making this game and kemco is just publishing it.
I guess the next golf RPG will include farming and life sim
@moodycat Not even golf can make RPGs exciting for me 😅
@Poodlestargenerica I feel like ice hockey would have a lot of room to explore that option. The combat system would be built in!
One of the few games in my rotation is Golf Story. Totally digging it and glad I discovered this old gem. The sound track is brilliant just by itself.
@BloodNinja
Sign me up for a Hockey rpg, that sounds like it'd be awesome! Battling polar bears with a hockey stick to improve my slap shot just sounds like a party!
That Kemco logo makes me highly suspicious
@Tott If I were a games developer, I would make that.
@BeefSanta Omg that profile pic is nightmare fuel!
Actually RPGolf Legends seems to be the sequel to RPGolf... and that was announced way before Golf Story came out...
@Bunkerneath Just popped up on Limited Run:
