Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (10th August)

MarioVillager92

I'll be playing in the splatfest, so Splatoon 3 for me. Maybe a few other games too.

@jufonuk I don't know about the Doom updates, but if you wanna see if they have updates, on the home menu, press the + button while highlighting the game you wanna check the updates for, then pick "software update." It'll download the update if there is one, or you'll get a message saying that the game is up to date. Hope this helped.

Re: Anniversary: The Game Boy Is Now 35 Years Old (North America)

MarioVillager92

I didn't have the original Game Boy as I was too young during its heyday, but I did have the Game Boy Color. A lot of the games I had were original GB games though... stuff like Super Mario Land 1 and 2, Donkey Kong '94, Game & Watch Gallery, and Pokemon Red. So that's cool at least. I don't have my GBC anymore though, I lost it years ago.

Re: Talking Point: What Was Your First Mario Kart Game?

MarioVillager92

Mario Kart 64 was the first one that I had. Got it with my Nintendo 64 as a Christmas present when I was 5. It was fun just racing around the courses for my child self, plus they looked awesome for the time! Surprisingly, we never had Super Mario Kart before I got MK64, but I did get SMK a year or so afterward.

Re: Talking Point: What Was Your First Legend Of Zelda Game?

MarioVillager92

It was A Link to the Past for me. How I got to play it was actually with that SNES model 2 bundle from the late 90s. Kinda weird, I know. I liked it, of course, though I didn't make too much progress in it as a kid - the furthest I made it back then was the second dungeon, if I recall correctly. I have finished it now though, and I play through it every now and then, since it's such a good game - I'd say ALttP is my favorite Zelda game overall!

I actually didn't really get into Zelda until years later, surprisingly enough - around the early 2010s. Fun fact about me - Wind Waker HD was the first Zelda game that I finished.

Re: Talking Point: How Were You Introduced To Metroid?

MarioVillager92

The first one I played was the first one. Metroid on the NES. We just happened to have it for our NES, and it was years after the game originally came out, since I wasn't around during the 80s. I didn't really get into it, I remember getting stumped when I got to that super tight corridor, lol. I didn't get into the Metroid series until much, much later, with stuff like Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, and the GBA Metroid games.

Re: Anniversary: The SNES Launched In North America 30 Years Ago

MarioVillager92

Probably my favorite console of all time. The SNES literally got me into video games in the first place, as it was the first console I've played. Many of my favorite games came out on the SNES as well! I'm a bit younger than the SNES too - I'm literally gonna turn 30 early next year.

@HammerGalladeBro Happy birthday! I hope you have an awesome day - my brother's birthday was just yesterday. lol

Game Boy Advance SP and New 3DS XL for me. I LOVED how the GBA SP had a backlight and I spent so much time playing mine as a kid. As for the New 3DS XL, I liked its new features like more controls, face-tracking 3D and those nice big screens from the original 3DS XL, plus there was an all-red variant. I did like the DS Lite as well, but I wasn't a big fan of how the buttons felt. Mine had that dead pixel on the touch screen too.

Re: Anniversary: The Nintendo 64 Launched 25 Years Ago Today

MarioVillager92

Picked the first option since I did have the N64 back in its heyday, but I never had it at launch. Thanks, Nintendo Life...

Anyway, the Nintendo 64 was the first console I pretty much had to myself! I got mine on Christmas 1997, I was 5 at the time. Loved games like Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Banjo-Kazooie (I used to rent it a ton, didn't own it until much later) Diddy Kong Racing, F-Zero X, Star Fox 64, Super Smash Bros., and even stuff like San Francisco Rush. Surprisingly, I wouldn't play the Zelda games until much later. Particularly when Ocarina of Time came out on the Wii Virtual Console.

Re: Talking Point: How Good Are You At Games?

MarioVillager92

It really depends on what game/genre I'm playing at this very moment. I'm pretty good at platformers and kart racers for example (I'm also a pretty decent Tetris player), but I'm awful at fighting games and a lot of shooters. I'm all right at Smash Bros. and Splatoon, but not too great at them. The last few Smash Ultimate online matches saw me get destroyed, lol.

But yes, the important thing is this - if I'm enjoying myself regardless of my skill, that's all that matters. I don't like getting stuck in games, though.
