Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

@jsty3105 I don't plan on buying one either. I'm more confused of why anyone would waste their money on this device just to dump their games and risk getting banned? It's not cheap at all, the cart itself costs $65, but you need to buy the dumper as well if you plan to dump the games you bought. That will cost you a total of $135 + shipping. If you own a lot cartridges, you would be better off buying a sleeved case to carry them all.

I don't get why people making such a big deal about this? Nintendo has already been banning online access for pirates on Switch 1 and no one really made a fuss about it.

Anyone with a hacked Switch 1 knows the moment they connect to the internet without a server blocker while having pirated software on the nand, it's an instant ban. You don't even need to be running a game, as soon as Nintendo servers detects that you have unofficial software, you're banned.

It's funny how naive these migswitch users think they can get away with using it online without consequences. Even Sony banned PS3s using CFW back in the day. As a hacked Switch 1 user, I have no sympathy for them.

Also, stop calling it a "brick". The console is still usable. You just can't do anything that requires access to Nintendo servers. Whoops, this also means you can't update your system. There is no way to update a banned Switch 2 for the time being.

Re: Nintendo Switch Has Surpassed The Wii's Lifetime Sales In The US

@steely_pete The Switch doesn't have quite the widespread appeal as the Wii did. I know many people who don't play video games bought the Wii for Wii Sports or Wii Fit, I'm not surprised they didn't buy the Switch. The Switch is of course a huge hit for gamers, but it wasn't as suitable for the elderly, hospitals, or non-gamers.

@Duncanballs Games and music for me. I really can't stand the exclusivity of movies on streaming platforms, the rising subscription prices, and password policing. If I can't find it on Blu-ray, I don't care, I will pirate it. As for games, I think the positives of digital outweigh the negatives. Personally, I find it a bit inconvenient to be contantly swapping carts or discs. I also don't find collecting games all that special anymore since you no longer get manuals and extras. Your disc or cart feels more like a physical product key nowadays than what a SNES cart was.

Re: New 4K Switch Model Could Launch For $399, Analysts Suggest

@SwitchForce I don't get why you are trying to argue a fact. You should know that Nintendo don't target the same audience as Microsoft and Sony. Most people will be hard pressed to pay an extra $100 for a slightly better Switch. I don't think the PS4 Pro/Xbox One X approach will work for Nintendo. I also don't believe in your portable=should cost more mentality. This is not a smartphone, its only a game console. Historically portable gaming have always cost less than consoles.

I don't think Nintendo is making a premium Switch. I believe they will take the New 3DS appoach.

@electrolite77 I can't see Nintendo segmenting three similar products like flagship smartphones. I think this new Switch will replace the current one at the same price. I can't see the average buyer shelling out an extra $100 for a slightly better Switch that plays the same games. It will definitely sell worse than the original model. In fact $399 would be the most expensive Nintendo console ever released. I think they want everyone to upgrade to the new Switch. Rather than make a premium model for enthusiasts.
