Persona 5 Strikers isn't technically out on Switch or other platforms until 23rd February, but there is a way to get stuck into the game ahead of time if you're super-keen on checking it out.
By purchasing the Persona 5 Strikers Digital Deluxe Edition, you'll get access to a variety of bonus content on top of the base game, all of which is listed below. On top of this, though, you'll also get a four-day early access period, and that starts today.
The Persona 5 Strikers Digital Deluxe Edition includes:
• 4 Day Early Access (2/19/2021)
• Bonus Content (includes soundtrack with over 40 songs, art book, and behind-the-scenes video)
• Persona Legacy BGM
• All-Out Attack Pack
Join the Phantom Thieves and strike back against the corruption overtaking cities across Japan. A summer vacation with close friends takes a sudden turn as a distorted reality emerges; reveal the truth and redeem the hearts of those imprisoned at the center of the crisis!
Naturally, the Deluxe Edition is a little more pricey than the standard edition, coming in at $69.99 rather than $59.99, but the option's there, available right now on the Switch eShop, if you want to take it.
We recently shared our full review of the game, calling it "a slick and stylish spin-off that manages to successfully combine a surprisingly strong story with some satisfying Musou-inspired hack-and-slash action."
Are you playing the game early with the Digital Deluxe Edition, or are you planning on waiting for its official release in a few days' time? Let us know in the usual place.

i really want to play this but.....i've never play persona 5 and i know that it's a sequel
-looks at physical preorder email confirmation-
Am sad now.
Still, I am damned if I would buy digital over physical purely to play the game early. They will have to do better.

“Waves hand”
This is not the Persona 5 we are looking for.
Already have physical preordered
If only they weren't cryptic about the bonuses like "all-out attack pack" what even is that??
@Bobb The All Out Attack pack is literally just a bundle of HP/SP items
@GameOtaku Idk about you but this is totally the Persona 5 I'm looking for. It's a nice change of pace from turn based battles and working part time jobs to increase my social stats
I went physical with this. That steelbook is just too good to pass up.
@GameOtaku Speak for yourself. I'm incredibly excited for this.
Got my physical copy preordered
Hey, didn’t you see Mitche’s article? No hype allowed 🥳
NINJA APPROVED
I used to be huge on physical copies, and I still am to some extent, but I'm honestly been going the digital route and it's so much more convenient. As a result, I decided to purchase the deluxe version digitally. I can't wait to play the game this weekend.
I just wished we persona 5 the real thing, or at least persona 4 on switch, before this...
@Cikoltan eh HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Welcome to Atlus, you must be new. An Xbox 360 owner in 2012 said the same thing as you
Really looking forward to this, just not sure which version to get, worried if the visuals and performance take a decent hit on switch or not. Used to get most games on switch without thinking twice, then I got mortal kombat 11......damn that looked bad, like really bad.
@RetroNarf I'd say it's ultimately down to how much you just really care about portability
I hear the load times on the English release are slightly better than how horrendous they were when the game came out in Japan but they're still pretty long, but the PS4's loading is also not that much better unless you're playing on PS5
There's still the matter of the excessive aliasing and lower resolution in addition to the halved framerate
@Ralizah @TheFrenchiestFry
I am interested in the game but I’m not going to buy the sequel to a game that is so narrative driven. The anime is not going to provide the same experience and spending several hundreds of dollars on a new console is not exactly a logical decision.
The deluxe is 44 dollars on the mexican eshop...
@GameOtaku You still say "we" as if you're talking about literally all Switch owners lmfao
Like nah that's on YOU for not owning a PS4 considering how many more of those are in people's homes compared to Switches. I am definitely not in this minority group you speak of lol
Plus the vanilla game is also on PS3 and you only need the vanilla game to understand Strikers' plot anyway. You don't necessarily need Royal
@GameOtaku Why would you need to spend money on a new console when you can play the game on your PS3?
@RetroNarf It runs at a pretty solid 30fps on Switch, which is more than enjoyable, although a step down from the 60fps on other platforms. Image quality-wise, it looks fine aside from the lack of anti-aliasing.
It's the usual story with Switch ports. If you want portability. get it on Switch. If not, get it on something else.
But I've played the demo, and it doesn't really push the limits of the system like MK11 did.
@Ralizah Or emulate it lol
@TheFrenchiestFry
Because I want to support Atlus so emulation is out of the question. They can just announce it or say no it’s not coming. They opened the can of worms so they should deal with it.
@GameOtaku They didn't open any can of worms
You essentially were setting yourself up for disappointment
Between Joker in Smash, Strikers being teased as Persona 5 S leading people to believe it was a Switch port and you actually thinking that a communications manager at a glorified translation branch at Atlus had any say or power that dictated what got greenlit over at Atlus Japan, in addition to disrupting consumer surveys exclusively intended for the Japanese audience, and that freaking hashtag that became a permanent stain on Atlus' social media accounts, the only ones forcing open the can of worms are the Nintendo diehards this bitter about a game never promised for their console, and you should deal with that and accept that.
I bought a Switch for Shin Megami Tensei V, not Persona 5 again. I'd rather they prioritize a game I've been waiting close to 8 years for over just pleasing an incredibly vocal minority of people who are only seeking validation for a character being included in Smash alongside other characters that also have next to nothing to do with Nintendo.
@GameOtaku You can still support Atlus via emulation. Buy a physical disc of the PS3 game and dump it.
@TheFrenchiestFry
I’m still going to hold out for it if it doesn’t come I won’t buy strikers, easy as that. I bought the switch because it could be easily updated since it’s portable unlike the rest since I have no stable internet.
@GameOtaku The PS4 literally updates in almost the exact same way as the Switch does. You still have to download and install an update over an internet connection before your console reboots. It's literally the same
They're both internet reliant and a lot of their features literally necessitate a connection at all times like the eShop and PS Store, the fact that games save their data on the console memory and have to manually install before being played regardless of digital or physical media, online multiplayer, cloud saving/archiving software etc.
If you were this concerned about your internet stability why would buy ANY of these consoles. They're pretty much exactly the same all around. Hell the Switch might even be worse for your case considering a lot of third party games require ADDITIONAL downloads and installs in order to actually be played on the system if they're bought physically since the game card doesn't even come with all the content out of the box.
Lmao at this point you're practically making nothing but excuses for just not buying a PS3 or PS4 since you apparently care SO much about this game
@TheFrenchiestFry Thank you for the info! Sounds kind of disappointing, though :/
l still don't call this game a sequel 😄 Tbh the deluxe seems pointless
I got the standard game for $50 on Steam. Yeah, I can wait.
@TheFrenchiestFry
I cannot carry the PS4 with me to a WiFi spot in town and update it as I can just carry the Switch to a store. The switch also doesn’t need to install games from the cart to work.
@GameOtaku Yes the Switch does. When the game goes into the console the data is stored in the on board storage or whatever SD card you have inserted into the console at that time. It's literally exactly how the PS4 works with its discs. They're essentially physical activation keys coming in the form of media you're actually familiar with. It's the same exact thing
And even then again, some third party games require additional patches or extra data to be downloaded over an internet connection to begin with because they don't come with the entire game or set of games on that one cartridge, like Wolfenstein, DOOM and MK11
And even then I'm pretty sure in terms of updating on the fly you can actually do that anyway by setting up your phone as a mobile hotspot through remote play and tethering it to your console and that serves as your connection right there. It might not be as easy as just taking your Switch out with you but how many places do you seriously go with your Switch that necessitates it's THAT essential of a travel item that you can't just wait until you get home and THEN update it
There's only so many times you can use "muh portability" as an excuse for literally just not getting another console. It's not like one cancels out the other or anything. If that's your excuse then I guess you're probably never playing the game you apparently care so much about at this rate.
@Mr_Persona
The game literally starts six months after the end of Persona 5.
@fadedcolors where do you buy mexican card? i buy it from eneba but i'm looking for something cheapest
looks like a great game. I prefer physical copies myself. will get digital if only option available.
@TheFrenchiestFry Physical Switch game data isn't installed to the on-board memory/SD card, though. It's one of the big reasons going physical on Switch is more attractive than doing the same on other systems: putting aside the games that require large downloads to run, they're actual physical games, not just physical DRM like PS4 discs.
@TheFrenchiestFry going by the comparison video on youtube, the loading times on switch are absolutely horrendous compared to ps4. Theyre still double the amount or even more at times.
Its basically reaching sonic 06 levels of load times
@Aya-chan yeah but the first game is supposed to end right there.
@Mr_Persona
Yes, the first game did end right there. That's why this is a sequel.
@Aya-chan l'm saying is the story ends there and P5 characters and the story doesn't go on. P5 and P5R are only the 2 true games. Atlus made this somewhat sequel as an excuse to keep making money off these characters. What they should be doing is focusing on P6.
Short summary, P5 game stays as 1 game and no sequels.
@Mr_Persona
Please take it from someone actually playing it right now. The story is very strong and the continuity is airtight. If you loved Persona 5, I'm bewildered why you wouldn't just try the game.
Oh wow, the normal version is almost out already!?
@Yusuke_the_Fox
It came out on the 19th if you buy the digital deluxe edition.
@Aya-chan Sorry, she is my sister and I know how her way of explaining things can be hard to understand which isn't her fault. But so far I've been playing it and she been watching, and to be honest, I'm not getting P5 vibes from this game either. It's okay so far but I get why some people aren't very satisfied with it. Now with the other comment, and I have been getting game date releases messed up lately. This year I was excited for Nioh 2, MHR, sorta excited for P5 Strikers, Cyber Shadow, Bravely Default 2, etc. So I have been having a lot of games on my mind haha. I haven't been on Nintendo Life in so long, so that's also why.
@Mr_Persona lol I'm staying in here and yes I'm a hero right!
@Yian_Garuga
I'm super excited for Rise, too. Hopefully it's a blast :3
@Aya-chan My brother and sister are already happy about the apex monsters because we're been fans for a long time, during the Freedom Unite times. I played the very first MH game and I never was a fan until Freedom. That game really made me part of the fandom. We're both hoping for our favorite elder dragons to make it in Rise.
@Yian_Garuga Why are you confused? You're playing it right now🙄 Its like you forget all the time
@Mr_Persona oops lol! I meant the normal version, not deluxe. Because I thought the date was farther in between. I forget okay
@Yian_Garuga Ah okay. Its okay for miss reading the article
@Mr_Persona Well when I see the article image, I just jump right in! I feel embarrassed for mistaking the version of the game.
@Yian_Garuga You act old xD Lets play something. go edit that post so you don't sound dumb🤪
@Mr_Persona ok "mom" and I'm getting on
Sucks for people I guess. I have no complaints, but I guess that’s because I want to play it early, don’t mind not having physical for this, would be busy during the week when released, and have disposable income. I also enjoy listening to the P3 battle music while fighting.
Picked it up on Steam for a discount. Games pretty fun, but the futaba hacking sessions give me ptsd of control from goldeneye and protecting Natalya.
Also, lmao at port beggars. I thought they stopped? Still trying to justify Joker in Smash I see.
@Ralizah keep in mind the disks on the other consoles have the data as well. They read from the hard drive because it’s faster than reading from a disk.
Look online at the difference in loading between this game on switch and on PS4.
