We have plenty here in Canada. For weeks leading up to Black Friday the regular Switch was pretty much sold out and only Animal Crossing Switches were in stock.
In stock at every Best Buy in BC Canada for weeks now. Honestly I can't see this being a hot seller. If it was an original GameBoy pre loaded with 20 games, I'm sure it'll fly off the shelves. But this Game & Watch is too bare bones to justify the $70.
Sony and Microsoft should have partnered with Nvidia for their GPUs. Nvidia has superior raytracing performance and DLSS which would really benefit the next gen consoles in 4K.
Even though the Wii U couldn't sell, Nintendo deserves more credit for supporting it until the very end, unlike Sony who completely abandoned the PS Vita once it bombed.
@JasmineDragon Its already $200 cheaper than next gen consoles and has a huge library of games. Until sales slow down, there is no need for Nintendo to cut the price.
Hmm I don't see a compelling reason to buy either console yet. I never owned an Xbox before and probably never will. I'm not interested in subscription services and all their exclusives are coming to PC anyways. I'll consider a PS5 once Gran Turismo 7 and Persona 6 come out.
People wonder why Nintendo is repeating the same holiday bundle every year. It's because Mario Kart 8 is a very popular family game that supports up to four players. Since the Switch only comes with two Joy-cons, it pushes people to buy more controllers and accessories. Nintendo is also smart not to discount their blockbusters like BOTW and Animal Crossing because they know people will be happy to pay full price for them.
@westman98 Right on! There is absolutely no question the Switch will surpass the Wii. Im surprised people are still doubting it. The Wii already saw a decline at around this time of its life, but Switch sales show no signs of slowing down. With next gen consoles almost impossible to buy this year, holiday 2020 is massive win for Nintendo. 80M by March 2021 is realistic goal. BOTW2, new Pokemon games, a new console revision will secure the future of the Switch.
I never get the appeal to these types of games. I tried Double Peace on PS4 and its easily the lamest game I ever played. There are just too many great games out there to play than waste my time lewding little girls.
@SleeplessKnight I highly doubt the PS4 will come close to the PS2 sales. It will probably only reach 120 million by the end of its life. PS5 is arriving this holiday, and Sony likely already abandoned first party support on the PS4. By comparison PS3 only sold around 7 million after PS4 launched.
@Haunting_Shad0w The number one reason people hack consoles is for piracy. Although there are a few lawful homebrew hobbyists that actually buys all their games. It's not about being fair or not, you have to doing everything you can to protect your products and corporate image. This modchip will expose over 30 million Switches to potential piracy. Nintendo will not only lose millions of sales, but potentially lose some 3rd party support.
To answer your question, YES you are right, this is not only a piracy tool, but its a tool that enables piracy. Do you expect Nintendo to do nothing? If not, how can you expect Nintendo to go after every person that pirates? How can you tell who's doing it when they're using Nintendo server blocking tools? You can't. The only way to protect the future of the Switch is to sue Team Xecuter and ban all sales of the modchip. Nintendo knows piracy better than anyone, they will not take any chances.
I have to disagree with anyone who tries to defend the purpose of this modchip. The fact that the vast majority of people who buy the modchip will end up pirating their games is a huge blow for Nintendo. Before only models below a certain serial number can be hacked. Nintendo has since patched out every model produced after July 2018 and even launched a new revision last year that fixed all the loopholes of the OG Switch. Now all Nintendo's work in the last two years was all for nothing, because Team Xecuter just screwed them over. If they want to launch homebrew on the new Switches, then find a security flaw in the software and exploit it. Making a modchip that bypasses all security is cheap, unethical and only encourages piracy.
Every single Switch will be vulnerable because of this modchip. You can't go after every person who buys one. So suing the creators is only logical thing to do, even if piracy isn't their intent. Nintendo must protect their IPs and all their 3rd party IPs.
I believe the Switch peaked in 2019. 21 million Switches were sold in the last fiscal year, but Nintendo projects only 19 million by March 2021. Covid-19 and lack of major releases this year likely hurt its growth. But most importantly the PS5 and XSX are coming out, and there is no doubt it will take some attention away from the 4 year old Nintendo console next year. With that being said its very unlikely we'll ever see the Switch sell over 20 million in a year again.
Some will argue that Sony and Nintendo target different audiences, with the latter being much cheaper. But very soon the Switch is gonna look very dated compared to the newer consoles. Nintendo is gonna have to release a Switch Pro soon if they want to prevent a Wii-like decline.
This is why you don't buy digital games from Nintendo. You literally pay $60 to rent a game for 5-10 years. The Wii U and 3DS eShop will one day close globally just like the Wii. Sony still allows people to access their PSP games from their PSN accounts. And because the PSP has been completely abandoned for five years, I think its very likely Sony will never remove digital games that you bought for legacy consoles.

@Alucard83 But unlike PCIe Gen 4 SSDs, Micro SD cards are cheap AF.
Re: Video: Immortals Fenyx Rising - Switch VS PlayStation 5 Graphical Comparison
@thiswaynow This game isn't really a good comparison as its nowhere near a next gen game. Looks a kind of like Overwatch if you ask me.
