Any way of making theatre and opera more accessible and more engaging for contemporary audiences is a-okay in my book. This concept is SO out there, but props to them for taking some bold creative risks! That’s usually where the best art comes from!
Oh man the Brawl one takes me back. Spent hours online researching the behind-the-scenes of that one back in the day.(And loved the free camera access provided by Project M, remember that?)
Surprised I never consciously noticed the Ocarina one either considering how much of that I played growing up.
@ChaoticKirby @Ryu_Niiyama It’s completely factual I swear!! The Disney animators created a rule in 1934 stating that all animal characters must be drawn with the expression that Simba has in the image above! Search “lion king rule 34” to see what I’m talking about!
I honestly love how that video mashes up the different games for a “best of” type thing. I guess Hyrule Warriors did a similar thing, but doing away with the multiverse/timeline shenanigans in favor of a non-canon paper world where everyone’s favorites are at play would be a ball!
A lot of these are common sense and things like the spoiler warning are definitely appreciated, can't tell how many times I stumbled across a stupid clickbait-y thumbnail of end-game spoilers when researching new titles. But like...consistently displaying the copyright? Come on now. Incredibly dumb.
I feel like a bad Nintendo fan only really being excited for Zelda haha. Already way too many Fire Emblems, Pikmins, and Metroids on the backlog for me to look at what’s next with each of those.
Makes me so nostalgic for the Wii U. First console I bought on my own dime, and it's insane to believe that it has been a decade now. Still miffed we never got that true multi-GamePad functionality!
Nintendo Land and Arkham City, hands down. Land is still a favorite in my friend groups to this day, and City introduced me to the rest of the wonderful franchise even though it was a pretty late port.
Love keeping up with this guy. And I can absolutely attest to the cheap travel within Europe, pretty sure my flight from Manchester to Paris last winter was cheaper than my Louvre tickets! On the other end of it, anything between America and Europe is just atrocious
As a content creator I’m torn on this one. Streaming/uploading games like GTA3 and LEGO Skywalker Saga can be a nightmare with the music, but when it adds to the overall experience it really can be a worthwhile addition!
I feel like I’m being punished for buying the game early. I payed $70 for what was the most “complete” edition at that point, why do I have to pay extra for these new characters now?!
I used Wii U’s internet browser for YouTube WAY more than the actual YouTube app. Great tablet to watch from when the TV was in use, and the curtain gimmick button was lots of fun to mess with when watching something with friends.
What a weirdly nondescript iteration of Link. Somewhere between a Twilight Princess and a Skyward Sword I guess? Not unlike Smash 4 Link…or isn’t this also a Switch profile icon🤔
Reminiscent of the Palutena Smash Bros. trailer to me! Would LOVE more of that from Nintendo in any capacity, they tend to pull out all the stops when it comes to 2D animation (see also the Link’s Awakening remake…)
You gotta love how they always goes above and beyond with these things, they’re never just a simple LEGO-ized replica. Would love to make more of a hobby out of the 18+ sets if they weren’t all so dang expensive!
Man, I have so much nostalgia for these games. None of them were particularly outstanding, but the first one was a delightful romp for Disney fans and the second was fun enough with a second player. Even the 3DS spin-off seemed pretty solid (with a gorgeous pixel art presentation), though I only ever got around to the demo.
I'm still on board for a remaster/re-release if those rumors from a while back are still worth referencing! Still curious what those new renders for merch were all about. Such a shame that Disney's video game commitments went into shambles after Infinity (also a really fun if flawed series).
This is extremely cool. I love when developers listen and respond to feedback like this. And they have some seriously deep cuts in here, it's gonna be great to hear some of those classic voices reprised! I'm getting this one free on PS Plus and if the gameplay clicks for me, I'll probably jump on the DLC as well.
I still think they could’ve stuck with the Miis for essentially the same effect. The updated tools and options for Miitopia worked extremely well, I had hoped that would translate over to other Mii-centric titles…
Anyway, how about a Tomodachi Life for Switch next??
@calbeau Agreed! Both are pretty solid spin-offs, but DE is just a total love-letter to the series' best characters, music, and settings. I can appreciate what AoC set out to do, but things got really hard to follow toward the end there.
@calbeau Alright, I’m just gonna be the bigger person here and walk away now. You clearly seem more concerned with flaming and baiting others than actually discussing the topic of the article.

To generally reiterate my thoughts in regards to said article, I think there is a lot of good that can come from emphasizing diversity in games, but I agree with others and even those in the video who bring up the issue of just aiming for diversity points. It needs to be authentically and naturally integrated for it to feel earned!
Geez, why the rush? I just bought a PS5 last year and am gearing up for PSVR 2 this year, give my wallet a break😂 Between those, Xbox X/S, and Steam Deck, I’d think plenty of people are feeling the same way. Even if you’re solely Nintendo, the Switch OLED was less than a year ago! That’d be a massive slap in the face to all those recent adopters…
Only Zelda and Advance Wars are really on my radar atm, which is a shame since it seems we won’t be seeing either for a while. I totally see the appeal of the other titles, don’t get me wrong, but they’re almost all sequels and spin-offs to other games I just haven’t had the time to invest in (the exception here being Splatoon 3, since I love the previous games but still don’t see enough new or different about this one to warrant a buy).
I always thought a WarioWare on Switch would make fantastic use of the gimmicks shown in 1-2-Switch. Was really surprised with the direction Get It Together went. (Even though it was still a super great game!)
I really don’t get the passionate hatred under every article about this film. There’s no way people are expecting a 10/10 movie about a video game character from Illumination, of all things. Slight redesigns and musical numbers have been a staple of the studio for years, those things seemed inevitable.
As long as they retain the heart of the characters and make good use of the cast’s strengths as primarily comedic actors, this should be good fun in the same vein as the Sonic films or Detective Pikachu, etc. If they can somehow manage a LEGO Movie-level of achievement for a children’s animated film about gaming’s most vanilla protagonist, I’ll be there with bells on, haha.
Also, say what you will about the Hotel Transylvania franchise as a whole, but those flicks are animated so dang nice! If Mario’s anything like that, it should be a visual treat.
Lots of nostalgia for this one from the Wii days. Really not great by any means, but it's still a mighty fun romp in my opinion (especially if you have a friend to try out the VS mode with)
Today's headlines are doing a great job at reminding me of my massive 3DS backlog! I loved Awakening from start to finish, but all three Fates titles have been sitting dormant for years. Made some good progress on at least one of them, but I've got a ways to go!
Oh man, definitely out of my price range right now but these are gorgeous. I still need to blow the dust off my 3DS and get around to Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice...and Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright...and The Great Ace Attorney 1 & 2...lots of catching up to do lol...
