Zelda's great. On that, we can all agree. Fighting monsters! Exploring dungeons! Battling gigantic bosses! ...But Zelda games don't usually give Link much freedom when it comes to settling down. Although Breath of the Wild gave you a house for the first time — previously you were always living with family, or squatting in a treehouse — there wasn't much you could do with it. Gardening? Fat chance. Furniture? Lol no. And befriending the villagers? Good luck with that, mate.
But Lonesome Village may just offer the Zelda-Animal Crossing fusion that you've always dreamed of. Although there's no combat, you'll be doing a lot of exploration, finding mysterious ruins, solving puzzles, and uncovering long-lost secrets. When you're not out adventuring, you'll return home to the titular village and make yourself a life, befriending your neighbours, customising your house, and, of course, working in your garden.
...And fishing. What, you really thought there wouldn't be a fishing minigame?

Lonesome Village has finally bagged a release date on Switch, PC, and the various Xboxes: November 1st, 2022. If you can make it through the spooooookiest month, you'll come out the other side with a brand-new game about an anthropomorphic animal on a quest. And you know we love those.
What do you think of Lonesome Village? Tell us your thoughts in the trailer! Oh, and the main character is a coyote, not a dog or a fox. Just so you know.

i backed this project on kickstarter. i'm very excited to finally play it, soon!
The lack of combat could be missing for me...
Can't say it doesn't look nice.
Looks really great but without the combat, it's not a fit for me. I hope it does well, I'm sure there are a lot of fans that will love it.
Stardew Lamb Crossing of the Wild or something like that.
I feel like I have seen this game before, but can’t remember where. Anyway, it looks solid but probably not for me.
NL go one day without using “Zelda-like” or “Animal Crossing-like” in an article title challenge (impossible)
I haven't played Animal Crossing, but after playing and enjoying Ankora: Lost Days recently (with minimal combat), I will be interested to see how this game reviews. As long as the exploration and puzzles are fun, I don't care if it is missing combat. Not difficult to find other games that are just one violent confrontation after another anyway, be it Mario Odyssey or Metroid Dread, which I have enjoyed.
The art style really clicks with me. Maybe some combat would be a good addition, though?
Will be waiting for this nonetheless.
Well, at least it takes away the subtle creepiness factor of "You're the only human in a world of animals" thing that's kept me away from Animal Crossing...
