Geez, why the rush? I just bought a PS5 last year and am gearing up for PSVR 2 this year, give my wallet a breakš Between those, Xbox X/S, and Steam Deck, Iād think plenty of people are feeling the same way. Even if youāre solely Nintendo, the Switch OLED was less than a year ago! Thatād be a massive slap in the face to all those recent adoptersā¦
Only Zelda and Advance Wars are really on my radar atm, which is a shame since it seems we wonāt be seeing either for a while. I totally see the appeal of the other titles, donāt get me wrong, but theyāre almost all sequels and spin-offs to other games I just havenāt had the time to invest in (the exception here being Splatoon 3, since I love the previous games but still donāt see enough new or different about this one to warrant a buy).
I always thought a WarioWare on Switch would make fantastic use of the gimmicks shown in 1-2-Switch. Was really surprised with the direction Get It Together went. (Even though it was still a super great game!)
I really donāt get the passionate hatred under every article about this film. Thereās no way people are expecting a 10/10 movie about a video game character from Illumination, of all things. Slight redesigns and musical numbers have been a staple of the studio for years, those things seemed inevitable.
As long as they retain the heart of the characters and make good use of the castās strengths as primarily comedic actors, this should be good fun in the same vein as the Sonic films or Detective Pikachu, etc. If they can somehow manage a LEGO Movie-level of achievement for a childrenās animated film about gamingās most vanilla protagonist, Iāll be there with bells on, haha.
Also, say what you will about the Hotel Transylvania franchise as a whole, but those flicks are animated so dang nice! If Marioās anything like that, it should be a visual treat.
Lots of nostalgia for this one from the Wii days. Really not great by any means, but it's still a mighty fun romp in my opinion (especially if you have a friend to try out the VS mode with)
Today's headlines are doing a great job at reminding me of my massive 3DS backlog! I loved Awakening from start to finish, but all three Fates titles have been sitting dormant for years. Made some good progress on at least one of them, but I've got a ways to go!
Oh man, definitely out of my price range right now but these are gorgeous. I still need to blow the dust off my 3DS and get around to Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice...and Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright...and The Great Ace Attorney 1 & 2...lots of catching up to do lol...
I love Zelda's voice work! Heads up, she voices Amaya in ALL chapters of King's Quest 2015, not just chapter 3. BONUS heads up, PLEASE go play that game if any of you haven't already. It's pretty cheap on Steam and you don't need an amazing gaming computer to run it! One of my personal favorites.
Speaking of Ms. Williams, she recently played Portia in a charity reading of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, alongside Jedi Fallen Order's Cameron Monaghan as Caesar. Highly recommended watch, there is some phenomenal talent on display here:
Wasn't there also recent news on the LEGO licensing deal coming to an end with Traveller's Tales or Warner Bros. (or both)? If LEGO Skywalker Saga was the end of an era, it'll be a bittersweet one; they really changed up the usual formula in such a strong way, and to just abandon that in favor of this metaverse scheme would be very disappointing...
Regardless of thoughts on how it's aged, how defining and game-changing (no pun intended) it was at the time of its debut more than qualifies it! Ocarina's at least more deserving than some of the nominees listed here (although @Anti-Matter may beg to differ...)
Might jump on this, pending selection and price. I love these games at friends' places but don't own any myself, having just a handful for when no one else has a copy would definitely be useful. Already got Drawful for free during their lockdown-related promotion, that's a great one to pull out in a jiff.
Tacking game-specific DLC onto the service is not gonna change my mind, no matter the game, no matter the DLC. If it's something I want, I'll buy it to keep. Did it with Animal Crossing and I'll do it again with Mario Kart. If they want me to jump at the Expansion Pass I'm gonna need some GB/GBC/GBA/GC/DS/etc. games on there ASAP
I'm clearly in the minority here, but I really do like what they're trying to do. An evolution of the Roger Rabbit cartoon/live action hybrid that acknowledges the advances in technology/animation throughout the last thirty(!) years since that movie makes for a cute flick, that should be absolutely harmless as just a Disney+ exclusive. Definitely won't be any more substantial than WB's take with Space Jam 2 last year, but SNL faves John Mulaney and Andy Samberg are enough to pique my interest!
Thatās so fun! Iām envious of Ace Attorneyās grasp on pop culture in Japan. Always love seeing the random things they do with the franchise over there, from jazz albums to full-on stage plays and musicals.
Very solid Direct! I just having trouble justifying all the $60 price tags, especially when Nintendo almost NEVER puts a decent/permanent discount on its first-party titles. Iām the kind to wait for a Mario sports game to be added to Nintendo Selects, but that line has been sorely missing during the Switchās lifespan.
Honestly stoked. If the normal Mii heads are usable from the start Iām sold! Hoping this precedes a Resort successorā¦or even just builds up to one via the DLC
I wonder what the remaining video content team in Redmond will be up to after this? Would love to see a revival of something more akin to Nintendo Week, really tapping into that dorky Nintendo charm by not taking itself too seriously with the advertising. Heck, I wouldnāt even mind them bringing back the same actors if they can get āem; Alison and Gary were a great little team that I personally think had a much better on-screen chemistry than Kit and Krysta.
This is awesome, loved these games growing up. Hope more of the Humongous catalogue makes the Switch in due time, Iād love to take a little nostalgia trip if the prices are decent!
Still slowly playing through the series for the first time in timeline order (sans Prime for now), and I'd honestly like to include Other M in the mix after Super and before Fusion. I'll make it to Dread eventually! Uploaded my Zero Mission playthrough to YouTube, that was such a stellar introduction to the franchise and a fun experience to share with others.
As a member of a younger generation, I swear I only know her name because of these Nintendo advertisements (dating back to around Tomodachi Life if I remember correctly)!
No rush! There are still some stellar exclusives on the horizon that will very likely have decent longevity. Whenever 20XX does come about, though, backward compatibility is a MUST with the massive Switch library that's accumulated in the last four-and-a-half years.
I rather fancy Seth Rogen, not quite understanding why he's getting the hate that Chris Pratt does? Some of Pratt's sketchy practices have earned them that, but I think this could be enjoyable. We shouldn't be looking for the next cinematic masterpieces out of a couple of video game adaptations, by any means. Just a fun 90-minute romp!
Also, this seems like the most logical follow-up to Mario with the Universal theme park expansions. Curious to see where else these collaborations might go!
If/when Sakurai is ready to jump back into his work, Iād personally love to see more Kid Icarus before more Smash. A continuation of Uprising in some fashion would be so stellar.
Downloading now! It's quite nice out here in the cornfields of northwestern Ohio on this crisp fall day, so I think a nice long stroll outdoors will be in order this evening.
With my limited free time at college, new releases that are short*er* can be a godsend. I have trouble sticking with anything over 15 hours over a long period of time. I will always jump at new, full-price releases with a shorter playtime, like Dread, if they interest me!
Very little of value for quite a bit of money if you already have the ACNH DLC and the SEGA Genesis games downloaded permanently. Really hard to justify that extra $30 for finite access to a dozen 20+ year old games, even with the perks of online play and better resolution. If they brought it up to par with the Wii U VC by throwing in GB/GBC/GBA/DS/Wii/etc. on top of that, itād be a different story for me, but Iāll hold out and get my N64 fix elsewhere for the time being.
New Leaf was so packed with special characters that itād be hard to live up to, as far as the āWhoās still missing?ā section goes. That said, I do still miss all the ones listed, and I raise you Dr. Shrunk!
Head over heels for that artwork of the cast all dressed up! The more of this series the merrier, I still have yet to get around to Great Ace Attorney but the franchise holds such a special place in my heart overall.
