Re: Atlus Says Its Survey Asking About Switch Ports Exceeded Expectations

KoopaTrooper

Atlus can sometimes take a very long time to produce a game so I don't expect SMTV anytime soon. To my knowledge Atlus has never publicly stated it is Exclusive to the Switch. Only its the target platform. The fact its being made with Unreal Engine and could be easily ported may mean its a timed exclusive and they plan to port it or consider it down the line.

Persona 3,4 were developed for the PS2, when Sony dominated the console industry. The fact that the hardware was so archaic meant any ports would be expensive. P5 started preliminary development after Persona4 (2008) and full development 2011. A very long time from start to release (2016). Part of that early time was probably porting the PS2 code to X86. So again porting it to the Switch won't be a simple task. The Switch has a different architecture with limited resources. Which is why I feel they went with Unreal Engine for SMTV. Which provides support across platforms without having to build & tweak a inhouse engine.

So IMO I think Persona being Sony exclusive has more to do with budget and the industry at the time then anything. Atlus would never have ported to the Wii or WiiU and Japan frankly doesn't care about Microsoft. Not to mention the period where Atlus's parent company went bankrupt and Sega bought them.

I personally want SMT:Nocturne & Persona4 the most.

Re: Sega Laments Poor Performance Of Its Console Releases In Latest Financial Report

KoopaTrooper

The Persona Sony exclusive thing just never made sense to me. Not sure what kind of contract Atlus and Sony have or whats going on there. Releasing persona games on the Switch will only increase sales and build a larger fanbase resulting in future titles selling more.

As far as Sega I can only speak for myself, but the Ages line hasn't released anything that I really care about and I've never been that big a fan of Sonic. Like someone said previously make a new Shining Force or revive some other franchises. Port Yakuza to the Switch. They sold well enough on the PS4 and probably would also sell on the Switch. Get Nintendo to let you make a new Fzero game.

Re: Famitsu Reveals New Details About Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore

KoopaTrooper

This game was completely overlooked in the West when it released for the WiiU. If you can get over the themes here its a really great game with Persona/SMT style battles with the 'Persona's' being Fire Emblem characters. With a typical gameplay loop of walking around town, talking/finding quests. Tackling dungeons with unique themes & bosses. If you like Persona or SMT you will enjoy this game.

Re: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Will Be Censored On Switch

KoopaTrooper

The censorship in this game is just dumb. Some things censored on characters then not censored in other scenes. Then you have the dungeon who's theme is modeling that was completely changed even though it was super tame. Considering the small fanbase for this game you would think they would ignore all the censorship nonsense. Game would get a rating of age 12 or above without the censorship.

Re: We Believe In E3, Says Nintendo

KoopaTrooper

I own a PS4, but was hoping Sony would see a reduction in sales during E3, but apparently they still ran a sale and did great. E3 is like Xmas for gamers to me and I would hate for it to go away. If each company does their own versions of directs at random times I just don't feel it will have the same impact. Good for Nintendo. Love their stance on the subject.

Re: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Officially Confirmed For Switch

KoopaTrooper

Why I'll agree Atlus didn't mislead people it is frustrating when Atlus and other developers can't just come out and squash these kind of rumors. They always are overly vague or even cryptic.

Obviously given the huge success of the Switch they get hammered with Switch port requests and then they tease Persona5S. Can they really be that naive to not understand what fans would make from that?

I don't see anyone's post here acting mad or entitled. There is a difference between hoping something is going to happen and feeling disappointed and acting entitled.

Re: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Officially Confirmed For Switch

KoopaTrooper

Not sure why people voicing their opinion they are upset about this announcement are being accused of whining and being entitled. Fans have been clamoring for P5 on Switch and I think its fairly obvious Atlus promoting PersonaS would make people think that. Its understandable to feel let down.

@VoodooTrumpet Actually I like SMT a lot more then Persona. Not a fan of the social stuff in Persona and SMT is a lot more adult oriented with choices that actually matter in the game. All with basically the same gameplay

Re: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Officially Confirmed For Switch

KoopaTrooper

@Jriibz At this point we don't know if SMT5 is exclusive to the switch. We assume like the 3DS it will be, but until it's released we have no idea. The PS2 had a ton of SMT games. Obviously Atlus felt they would do better with smaller budgets working with the 3ds, but given the scope of SMT5 and the use of Unreal I wouldn't be surprised for it to be on the PS4/5. Personally not a fan of exclusivity. I'd rather play a game on the console of my choice.

Re: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Officially Confirmed For Switch

KoopaTrooper

I just want to know why the series is exclusive to Sony. It doesn't benefit Atlus. The series would sell millions more on the Switch and cross platform would make the series more popular increasing their audience for all future Atlus titles as well. Atlus is literally throwing away millions and millions of dollars. This whole PersonaS thing has even soured me on Persona5Royal. May just wait for a price drop.

Re: Review: SEGA AGES Gain Ground - A Commendable Failure, But A Failure Nonetheless

KoopaTrooper

Don't agree with the review. This is not a shooter, but a strategy game. You have to save other characters and use their unique abilities to clear the level or get everyone to safety. The genesis game was a blast to play.

Review seems to complain about the graphics a lot, but considering this is a port of a old arcade game it's not like they were going to overhaul the graphics.

Re: Japanese Trailers Show Off More Details Of The Upcoming Sega Mega Drive Mini

KoopaTrooper

Hopefully Sega addresses the complaints people had with Nintendo's system. Short controller cables. Also I hope unlike Nintendo, Sega/M2 will offer a lot more visual settings to make the games look better on a HDTV. Also the ability to add more games.

Like a few have mentioned. I would love for a real working slot and the re-release of Genesis mini carts including cases/manuals. Not sure how much of a market there is for this, but I would be on board.

I also wish Nintendo & Sega would put more effort into getting some of the 3rd parties on board. It's a shame all of these retro releases have basically the same games. I want some of Capcoms, Konami's, Data East, Sunsoft, etc 16bit titles. And some of the more obscure titles.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Indie Collaborations And Crossovers We’d Like To See

KoopaTrooper

I just want a Zelda game done like Binding of Isaac. With item synergies and tons of items/dungeons. Except add a central hub like a village to upgrade armor and even character stats. With the hub having dungeon entrances as well as hidden passages to other dungeons.

Given BOI's top down view and the fact it was inspired by Zelda it would be a perfect fit IMO.

Re: Nintendo Reveals The Best-Selling Indie Games On The Switch

KoopaTrooper

Nice to see Hollow Knight. Best indie on the Switch IMO. The complaints about the difficulty are expected as not everyone wants a challenge, but the hardest content is optional and most bosses only took me a few times to figure out. However this game is very much one where you have to learn the bosses moves and dodge. You can't tank the bosses like many games. That being said the game is gorgeous, the controls are tight and precise and it offers a ton of content.

Shame Into The Breach is not on here. Amazingly addictive game and one of the better games out there. Check it out if you are not familiar.

Re: Sega Says Its Retro Release Strategies "Can Be Opportunistic As Well As Strategic"

KoopaTrooper

Sega Does What Nintendon't

I really see no reason to complain here. Sega is offering a lot of their retro games on many platforms. Even if every title doesn' t make the cut it's still way better then how Nintendo is handling their retro library. I'd much rather have the option to buy these games then not. I just hope they continue to increase the library and hunt down more 3rd party licenses. Konami and Capcom need to be involved and Sega should hunt down licenses for defunct companies like Data East.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Maddening Stance On Retro Gaming Is Driving Me To Piracy

KoopaTrooper

I've never seen a company so against giving their customers what they want and making money from it. As much as I love Nintendo's games they seriously need to change their ways. After the failure of the WiiU I expected them to come out swinging with the Switch. Now we have no VC, No Miiverse, silly app needed for voice chat, paid online, no Netflix or other streaming apps and a lousy 3 NES games a month. Makes one think Nintendo is trying to lose customers.

Re: Poll: Six Months On - How Do You Feel About My Nintendo?

KoopaTrooper

I used to check Club Nintendo monthly, but now I've just given up. Nothing but horrible discounts on games I already own. Why not just have one 15% off any game and for more points at good one like 50% off any game. The way this is setup a big time supporter of Nintendo, who already has most of their games, will never get any rewards and their coins will just expire.

If anything this program rewards those who don't buy a lot of Nintendo games and can take advantage of their questionable 'deals'.

Re: Review: Contra III: The Alien Wars (New 3DS / SNES)

KoopaTrooper

@Kirk Agree 101%. M2 and Sega made some amazing 16bit ports with 3D, extra features, unlockables, mulitplayer etc. Hopefully they are selling well, but I have little faith in gamers that they are.

Nintendo just throws them out there as is. Would love to see Super Mario World, Fzero, EarthBound and Contra in 3D. Maybe even for side scrollers open up the sides of the screen more.

I've bought all these games on the SNES, Wii and WiiU and will not be buying them again on the 3DS without any kind of enhancements. Nintendo should show these games and its consumers a little well deserved respect and love.

Re: Talking Point: The Limited Edition Battle With eBay Scalpers Can be Tackled More Efficiently by Nintendo

KoopaTrooper

Limited edition should mean they honor all preorders period and afterwards no more will be made. I gave up on Nintendo limited editions. Wanted the MM 3DS and had a horrible experience trying to get one within mins of its announcement. With the current state of affairs I've resigned myself to never getting a limited edition again. You would think as much as Nintendo is hurting in annual sales they would realize they are shooting themselves in the foot here. Plus I;d love for the scalpers to be stuck with their purchase.

Re: The Nintendo 64 is Now 18 Years Old in Japan

KoopaTrooper

You know in hindsight I'm glad the N64 was ROM based. Have been playing Majora's Mask again with instant loading and made me think how much I've grown to hate loading screens. Go into a room by accident, loading screen, go back, loading screen, trigger cinematic, loading screen.
