Re: Review: Mega Man 7 (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)

KillScottKill

Nowhere even close to an 8. This game's flow is constantly interrupted by a bunch of boring, unskippable BS. The intro scene that takes FOREVER. Every time you get a new item, etc. Then there's the unnecessary amount of collectable junk like the Rush Search and the Proto Shield.

There's also the fact the game is divided into two - only allowing you to pick from 4 robot masters at a time, a huge no-no. Completely destroys what made Mega Man special on the NES - choices!

Then there's the terrible theming and plot structure. Have you BEATEN this game and read the excruciatingly awkward ending where MM is like "I'm not... just... a normal.... ROBOT!" ? Just awful.

The only things I give MM7 credit for is A) Introducing Bass, a much needed parallel character to Mega Man who should've been in a much earlier game, B) The bolt system, simply because it made acquiring items like E-Tanks much more practical, and C) The widely unknown about VS. feature if you have the password to access it.

Re: Watch Dogs Wii U Release Dates Confirmed

Pre-ordered on Amazon.

Again, some of you need to grow up. This is a solid entry to the Wii U's library and a worthy own. I couldn't care less who played it first. It will all look the same when I'm looking at my collection in 10 years.

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Super Mario Platformer?

KillScottKill

lol @ anyone picking 64. Take off your nostalgia gogles; that game hasn't aged well at all.

Mine is SMW on SNES because the controls are perfect, the styling is appealing, it isn't too long for a SNES game, and, best of all, it has a save feature unlike its predecessors.

Galaxy 1/Sunshine are close second places. That's when 3D Mario really got good.

Re: Video: The 10 Best Zelda Games As Selected By You

KillScottKill

1. The Legend of Zelda
2. A Link to the Past
3. Twilight Princess
4. Majora's Mask
5. Ocarina of Time
6. Wind Waker
7. The Adventure of Link
8. Skyward Sword that no good piece of garbage

Just home consoles. I also really like Minish Cap and A Link Between Worlds. Link's Awakening is also solid.

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Legend Of Zelda Game?

KillScottKill

1. The original. Not even close. The Legend of Zelda on NES is the consummate video game. Open world, esoteric, imaginative, challenging... It had everything.

2. Link to the Past

3. Twilight Princess (GameCube - the Wii version sucks)

After that, it's all pretty meh. Ocarina of Time is the most overrated game. So many design flaws and filler. Majora's Mask was better IMO, because it brought the same mechanics but wasn't afraid to try some new things and get away from the formula. Wind Waker, especially the HD remake, is gorgeous and has some fun dungeons, but I can't forgive how much of that game is just time wasting on the ocean. For a world so beautiful, it also lacks a lot of personality. I wish a console game in that style existed on the lands of Hyrule. And Skyward Sword... Just, no. Egoraptor nailed why that game is so massively overrated. As uncreative as the New Super Mario Bros. series, but with a terrible control scheme.

Re: Nintendo UK Store's Kirby Hypernova Pack Aims to Suck You In

KillScottKill

People who say the 2DS is uncomfortable have clearly never held it before and are solely judging it on appearance. The 2DS is the most ergonomic handheld console I've ever touched before. Say it looks funky all you want, the 2DS is more functional than the 3DS and 3DS XL - especially the original 3DS.

Re: Nintendo 64 Titles Heading to the Wii U Virtual Console

KillScottKill

@Dpishere posts like this are so asinine. It really confuses me what is running through people's brains when they try to make this point.

How about this:

The Wii U VC has save states, the Wii VC does not.

The Wii U VC has Gamepad, and thus off screen play. The Wii VC does not.

The Wii VC on Wii U doesn't support GameCube controllers (yet), so you have to play N64 games with the far inferior Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro. N64 games on the Wii U VC would assuredly support the Pro Controller, which is far more preferable.

For those who don't use credit cards, Nintendo eShop cards are far easier to find than archaic Wii Point cards.

How's that for all the reasons as to why people would prefer N64 games being ported over to the Wii U VC?

Re: Wii Owners Are Upgrading To PlayStation 4, Claims Sony

KillScottKill

Completely believe what he's saying, but I think that 31% number is more telling of the 360 owners who flipped - that's where Sony is really stealing customers, at least in the U.S. and U.K.. Microsoft's blunders with the XB1 in 2013 created a lot of ill-will and a lot of gamers eager to jump into the new gen opted for the PS4, indicated by its much stronger sales point than its direct competitor.

Another thing to keep in mind is just how many people had the Wii as a secondary console to their PS3 or 360 in the last gen due to the much different experience it offered and the fact it was so practical and affordable. It's only natural that consumers who fit into that mold would contribute to this kind of statistic. The question is, will these same people someday own or Wii U along side their PS4 or XB1?

Really, the Wii's massive install base has evaporated. A large part of that is families who don't own a single of the three new consoles, because they've found other things to use their time with. Mobile gaming is a much sturdier alternative now than it was at the start of the last gen, so a lot of the casual gamers that were sucked into the "Wii factor" and the allure that Wii Sports caused are now twiddling their thumbs on smartphones, hence the yearly explosion of things like Angry Birds, Temple Run, and Flappy Bird.

I also think what you're seeing in the fallout of the Wii's success is that generation's children growing up and breaking out of family gaming. I suspect there's a large abundance of middle and high school teenagers that upgraded from the Wii with family to the 3DS by themselves, as shown by the massive popularity of that console.

Re: E3 2014: Reggie Fils-Aime Reaffirms Nintendo's Commitment to the GamePad

KillScottKill

@Hotfusion this is an excellent point. I haven't seen too much about Gamepad failure, but you can't help but wonder if it ever becomes an issue someday with the oldest Wii U's that were shipped at or near launch. Sometimes consoles just fail and you have to replace - ask the countless 360 owners from the last generation. The Wii U setup basically doubles the odds of massive replace/repair costs because you have two things that can fail; the console itself and the Gamepad. Luckily Nintendo has a good track record with this sort of thing, but double the odds is still double the odds.

Re: E3 2014: Reggie Fils-Aime Reaffirms Nintendo's Commitment to the GamePad

KillScottKill

The Gamepad is hit and miss. As a piece of hardware, it needs a lot of improvement. It's range of function when offscreen is terrible and they need to start prepackaging the strongest battery available for new Wii U's.

In terms of gameplay, it all depends on the game. I didn't mind using it at all for SM3DW and WWHD. Then there's stuff that insists on using it in funky, unnatural ways like Nintendoland. It works fine as a second screen, a mini-map, a quick menu to edit inventory etc., but please, for the love of God to Nintendo and all developers, do NOT make me hold that thing up to the TV to where I HAVE to look at both screens at once to play your game.

Re: E3 2014: Devil's Third Confirmed As Wii U Exclusive

KillScottKill

I get it. People are excited that there's an M-rated exclusive coming to Wii U.

Really though, the gameplay looks clunky and the graphics are way behind. Hopefully this gets a lot of fine tuning before it hits shelves. I'd hate to see a key exclusive get slaughtered in reviews.
