Since a certain Rocket League updated rolled out last week, players on the Nintendo Switch have noted the disappearance of split-screen multiplayer.
It's got a lot worried over on social media - with many wondering if it'll even return to the Switch version. There's no need to panic though, as it appears to be an issue on Psyonix's end. Here's an update on the situation, courtesy of the official Rocket League support page. This has also been more recently confirmed by the Rocket League Help Twitter account.
How do I Play Rocket League in Split-Screen on Nintendo Switch?
Split-screen mode is currently unavailable for Nintendo Switch. We are working on resolving this issue.
So there you go - it's returning at some stage. It's not the only "issue" Psyonix is dealing with right now, either. Since the game's free-to-play launch and arrival on the Epic Store earlier this week, there have been ongoing server issues.
On a more positive note, the game has already passed one million concurrent players as a free-to-play title. Have you returned to Rocket League since the free update? Leave a comment down below.

Have I returned to Rocket League? I never left When I see my niece, I play split screen screen with her.
Tried this game a few times over the last year or so. Looks good, and the concept is fun.
But boy did I never even got close to score something.
Oh no, I haven’t tried to play split screen recently enough to notice but I hope it comes back soon. That was a big deal for me.
They'd better bring it back. The whole reason I bought it was to play local with the fam.
never used it - to be fair, since crossplay - if ever a friend wanted to play this game with me, he sat in front of my pc (steam) and i was playing on switch ..... i love splitscreen, but rocketleague is one of the games, where the missing screen - space is killing your fun.
Anything special for people that shelled out a full price for this game?
Psyonix also reduced the amount of XP earned after each match. They also got rid of the weekly wins and replaced them with a single daily win, which doesn't even stack up. The first 70 tiers was a grind to begin with, but that's just going to ruin it for players who didn't have much time to get past 70 before the update.
@Scrubicius They gave out a banner, 2 boosts and gold dieci wheels for people who bought the game.
The crappy company that makes this game will get no more of my money. In fact governments and associations should make companies pay for the crap service they give customers. And before anyone says it I paid for this game.
@Yanina I was like that for a while. Laughing at myself because I would charge full speed at the ball and miss it by a whisker... every time!
I’m still sort of terrible, but at least I can control the ball now and score and it’s my go to online multiplayer game for unwinding when I only have 10 mins.
Just started playing. My issue is that when playing with friends I get the message that I didn't accept the terms yet, which I did. Basically I can't play with friends now.
I deleted Rocket League the moment they got acquired by Epic.
@Yanina I encourage you to keep trying. It took me months of casual, once or twice a week, game play to get "okay". Given the random nature of much of the matches, it is normal to not get a goal every game. While I have over 250 hours and 2 years into the game, I can still go a couple games with out a goal. To me, the design and execution of the game is incredible.
I found the recent update changed the select screen layouts which was frustrating- I am sure I will get use to it but I preferred the original style and layouts.
The physics of this game are just... phenomenally different, just like Fortnite's weapon physics. Whatever's the case, I can't get used to the driving compared to games like Mario Kart and even Gran Turismo.
Haven't played for a while, but id they eliminate the option to buy cool DLC cars like the Back to the Future DeLorean? I still have access to them, which rules, but they don't even seem like something I can buy with my PS4 version. I also noticed on my main unit, the Switch, my progress was set back to zero. I had my purchases, but none of my progress was reflected
I was going to be mad if they didn't bring it back
@Scrubicius people that had already bought the game already got given a bunch of items when it went free
@sleepinglion damn I thought I was just missing something. I also cannot seem to get my cars to jump over to the switch version.
@PortablexombieV2 It helps knowing it's not an isolated problem. I didn't even see an option to rebuy these vehicles. Did your progress reset at well?
@sleepinglion I never payed attention to my progress. I did not play it alot. I mainly played split screen with my kid on ps4. Decided to try it in the switch since it is free.
Having bought this game almost a year ago based on the fact that it was 2 player split screen, I'm really annoyed Rocket League is no longer functioning as intended! A day or so not working is just about acceptable, but it's been almost a month now! Come on Psyonix, sort it out and stop treating your customers on Switch so badly.
@Vestax720 I'm with you. My son and I had hours playing this together on local split screen. I'm left with the impression that those who bought the game have been dumped on in the pursuit of extracting as much cash as possible from new Battle Pass purchasers.
It's a long time to fix something that wasn't broke to start with
@BarryandWill likewise we're a father and son team too, well, we used to be! As a temporary workaround, but not as easy, we downloaded the now free game on to an old-ish PC and now in the process of waiting for a USB controller to arrive through the post. I find playing via a keyboard is near impossible
