Immortals Fenyx Rising is coming to Switch this December, and is shaping up to be quite an epic adventure.
Mixing elements of the studio's Assassin's Creed franchise with Greek mythology and a customisable protagonist (who can also fly, Kid Icarus-style), this open-world adventure is looking extremely appealing - not least because Ubisoft seems to have taken a significant amount of inspiration from Nintendo's Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as you can see from the gamplay footage below. This could make the game a surprise hit with Switch fans this Christmas.
Immortals Fenyx Rising hits Switch on December 3rd. Will you be taking the plunge?

It has taken a lot of inspiration from BotW and that is making it awesome!
I will get it for sure but I do not know if Switch will be the right platform.
I really do have high hopes for this game on switch, i have been watching out for it since the beginning i just hope i'm not disappointed with the gameplay.
it sure does , so is genshin impact . doesnt mean they arent good .
But how will it play on Switch? Don't want to get my hopes up...
I think it's looking good and if it's trying to improve some of Botw mechanics then I don't see the issue here.
This is, perhaps, how a new Kid Icarus game should be and, for the moment, this is going to be my Xmas game unless something more interesting comes up.
Yup,this game definitely looks like a mix of BotW and Kid Icarus, which is why I'm pretty excited for this.
Ubisoft's Gods & Monsters Really Does Look Like Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Ubisoft's God & Monsters Is Now Officially Known As Immortals Fenyx Rising
Immortals Fenyx Rising Sure Does Remind Us Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
In any case, BotW was all the open world I need on my switch right now, so instead, I'll wait patiently for BotW 2.
Looks good. Will buy this, but not before i have finished more in my backlog.
Sadly this doesn't seem like a game for me.
Don't get me wrong, it looks lovely and I'm absolutely down for another BotW-like, but the world looks way too busy, like it's trying too hard to have every place full of content.
Also, I heard that the story wants to be more of a comedy, with silly dialog and 4th wall breaking and I hate that.
Most Ubisoft games have a generic feel to them so I will wait for reviews.
Yes. Certainly looks promising and very BOTW
It does look quite a bit like Breath of the Wild and is why I wouldn't mind giving it a go
I’m just surprised it is even launching on Switch (which is great).
I think the Nintendo audience is much more suited to this game also so I hope it runs well and sells well and ensures more Switch support from Ubisoft in the future and more new IPs.
A BotW-like based on greek mythology and looking this good? Give me two, please.
BOTW made such a huge ripple in the gaming world it seems that it will now be its own reference point like WoW became for mmog games so expect games in the future to be described as BOTW-esque like WOW-esque or Metroidvania style. That said; I see in my future many fun hours of unabashed delight playing this game!
I wish games would be lambasted for taking far too much inspiration as opposed to applauded. In the 80s and 90s they got branded as rip offs. These days it's 'perfect sense' commercially. Anyhoo, there is nothing here that captures my imagination because BotW already did. I supposes it's nice for gamers who think Nintendo is for kids lol.
@Rebusmind That’s interesting, my chief gripe with botw is that it’s way too empty, with a lot of dull spots in between the exciting parts. I like how busy this game looks, but I’m hoping the slow down parts are optional, or linked to a power or something.
Am I the only one seeing the irony here? I remember doing the whole "open world ... climb up on turret to unlock new map area, proceed to talk to NPCs and do tasks in said area, rinse and repeat" in Ubisoft games like Assassin's Creed and Farcry years before it found its way into Breath of the Wild.
This is what I'm talking about! Even though it's on the edge sometimes (cough magnesis rune cough), it definitely looks like something that expands on the BOTW formula and not just a cheap knock off of another company's IP... very competition-friendly
Man i need a more powerfull switch lol, Nintendo please bring a switch pro, that can play these games in full glory.
But yeah i loved what i saw from this game. So a day one buy from me.
I only have doubts if i will buy it for PC or switch soni wait till switch videos come up.
I really like the look of this game and I'm going to get it, but this really makes me wish Nintendo would do a new Kid Icarus.
@Kienda it'll be very interesting to see which version sells best
Let's hope it's better than BoTW. BoTW is an old game now 😳
@TG16_IS_BAE I had the same issue with Breath of the Wild, it was too empty in places (especially mountain areas) and I found those parts boring.
The combat in this game looks more fun to me as well.
Really like the look of it so far, guess we'll have to see what reviews say. I don't care about the rip off bits though, it's a compliment to Nintendo if people want to reuse their ideas.
This just makes me want a Kid Icarus game in BotW style. Does look neat, I might check it out.
@georgesdandre We seem to be at a point now where BotW is the first open world game ever, invented all the ideas used in it and any game remotely open world or with a cartoony look is just a rehash.
Despite companies like Ubisoft using many of the open world tropes long before Nintendo ever did.
This looks like an open world Kid Icarus game.
I really want to like this, its made of bits of things that I love but there is something about the combat that's putting me off, and I'm not too sure on why.
Looks really good and combat looks fun, also the areas actually look packed with stuff unlike BOTW, this and hyrule warriors will keep me busy this holiday season
I'll probably get this on Switch, if I do get it.
@abe_hikura For me, it’s the slow-down thing. I wish it would just maintain a normal speed.
@Baker1000 Yes, and that's really good. I wish Nintendo did a Kid Icarus adventure game. I didn't like the one in 3DS at all, I tried it a couple times and I couldn't handle those controls.
This is sadly an issue I have with this game. It is way to close to Breath of the Wild.
@ViewtifulJotun look at spellbreak. Seems visually similar. Also: this will probably use the ubisoft snowdrop engine, so look at starlink.
There's taking inspiration, then there's cloning. This seems to be closer to the latter. I'll give it one yike for now, the rest of the yikes will wait for reviews.
I am actually very interested on it, having liked AC Odyssey and of course BOTW. Might get it for Xbox tough (currently on Xbox One x but hoping to upgrade to series x). However, if it features cross-save, I might getting on switch first and wait a couple of months and get it on Xbox during an eventual sale (it is more likely to go on sale sooner On that platform)
If this is even half the game that BOTW was, I'm in. Haven't had any experience on the switch even close to BOTW.
Geez Ubisoft, thanks for keeping your giant annoying timer on screen while revealing gameplay. 🤦♂️
This oops interesting, but I dont think I'll be bothering with this on Switch. I'm not having good feelings of how it will perform.
However, if the Switch version looks and plays this well I will reconsider.
I’m down with devs copying aspects of games and improving upon them but this for me this looks too similar to BoTW. And you know coming from UbiSoft it won’t be as polished and it’ll have too many pointless quests that feel like chores. Hopefully it’ll have its own style in there somewhere and isn’t too copy-cat generic. Also I agree with the comment above. It’s does look busier compared to BoTW which in my opinion may not be a good thing and may remove a true sense of exploration and discovery.
Okay. This has my attention.
Would love a game like this to have co op.
Maybe Genshin Impact will scratch that itch.
Im still interested in this game after the reveal. Seems to check some boxes I was hoping for. Also raises some concern. People who played the demo said the works felt small. Only one area of the map was open but they were able to go end to end in 3-4 minutes. The combat system looks very button mashy.
OMG imagine if this is what a new Kid Icarus looked like!
It's inspired, but not in a poor rip-off way. Looks really good!
Nintendo: All open world games copy us!
Fans: Oh brother...
But what a nice game to have!
I’m assuming the footage was from the PS4 version not the Switch?
I don't know what everyone is talking about, this game looks -nothing- like BotW!! ...
... ¬_¬
All joking aside, I literally almost choked on my water when Kid Icarus whipped out the Sheika Slate and used the Magnesis Rune.
GF will probably want this, so I'm sure I will play it, but I hope there are options to turn off all the hand-holdy bits. Way too much UI there, and the footage during the countdown timer looked like the game probably has forced tutorials.
@Shadowthrone you mean nintendo didn't invent everything? How dare you insult the glorious name of nintendo and zelda. Really though you would think some of these kids had never played other games before. Botw didnt invent climbing, durability, flying or gliding, or open worlds but it seems you can't tell them that. Also seen similar art styles before but we'll just ignore all of that.
Will it be decent on the Switch?
@psychoBrew You should've seen them in the 90s and 80s. They made Commodore 64 titles though I don't remember which ones exactly but we have a few from a collection we got at Goodwill among others.
They are only a AAA company because the others were bought out or snuffed out (whatever way you like to look at it) when EA kicked people around.
Ubisoft would've been a pipsqueak if we hadn't gone to a globalist mindset.
@Mr_Persona I don't recall anyone at Nintendo ever saying anything remotely like that.
I think fans are the ones claiming it in the first place.
