ACNL dailies/weeklies, Pokémon Art Academy, and Pokémon Pearl for singleplayer, maybe Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, too, should I get too burnt out. ACNL and Minecraft for multiplayer.
Transferred the Pokémon I want to train to my Ultra Sun file (doing an Eeveelution run) so I can get started on this adventure now. Also the usual ACNL dailies/weeklies, and probably some Minecraft and/or Mario Maker 2 for multiplayer, maybe some Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn for singleplayer if I can squeeze it in.
@kevin74 I've tried that but it doesn't work for me at all. If my glasses aren't sitting perfectly straight I get dizzy, it already suffices if they slide down a tad.
Not a fan of the design, the colours are fine and I like how smooth it looks but it's a bit clunky. Also... as someone who wears glasses I instinctively check whether a headset/headphones provides space for your arms (glasses arms, not your extremities). Having them pressure-sandwiched between your head and ears isn't only uncomfortable but it hurts. It's my main concern with these devices and honestly I'm already in pain when I look at this one.
ACNL dailies/weeklies, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. Not sure what multiplayer will bring yet as there are too many good options right now - looks like it'll be Mario Tennis Aces' co-op event, Minecraft, and/or some Mario Maker 2. Co-op buddy can't decide yet and I'm down for all of them. XD
What?! That was the last straw! I will never buy any Nintendo products again!
Nah, silliness aside, I really loved this feature. It's a small touch but strangely fun and charming. I do hope that it will make a comeback soon though it won't be a dealbreaker if it didn't, sad as it'd be.
@SegaBlueSky Home button light functionality will be added soon enough. From what I know the foundation is already there so the question is when games are going to be updated to implement new features utilising it (e. g. multiplayer invitations etc).
Yes! I got it for online co-op with friends only and it's been sitting around on my shelf ever since. Glad to hear the day's come and I can delve into it with my buddy. This should be a fun ride.
Man, I was hearing this game's music the whole time while reading. This article hits me right in the childhood. <3

Pff, amateurs. I've hurtled towards the ground in all lessons! Don't let a virtual instructor tell you what you're allowed to drop like a hot potato; you gotta live a little! Make your own horrible decisions! Be free, little plane, be free!
That moral compass sounds like promising stuff. I've never been a fan of those stark black/white moral choices you'd usually see so here's hoping this will be as good as it sounds.
I've said it before but I'm so looking forward to Luigi's Mansion 3. Otherwise I'll merely get Ring Fit Adventure and Pokémon Sword/Shield. Somehow the entire year's been rather light in terms of notable releases for me with a whopping three games (Yoshi, Luigi, Pokémon) but at least it means I get to make some progress with my backlog.
... Let's pretend I am not drowning in said backlog.
There's a good chance I already have these (I'll be playing tournament mode either way) but... I still cannot get over Chain Chomp being playable let alone wearing hats. I love this so much. That being said I'm very glad they didn't make alternative costumes/colours a one-time offer.
I'm so down for Luigi's Mansion 3, otherwise I'll only get Ring Fit Adventure out of these. Eyes on Harvest Moon's Mineral Town remake but I plan to get an in-depth look before making my decision as I always do with HM/SoS games.
I've been in a release drought since Yoshi's Crafted World back in March so I'm really looking forward to LM3. I can't wait to dive into its multiplayer, LM2's is still such a blast for my friends and me so I'm itching to see what its sequel brings.
@wazlon Here's hoping you'll be able to get a good rest. Get well soon!
The usual ACNL dailies/weeklies, plus Scribblenauts Unlimited (3DS), and Super Kirby Clash are set in stone. Otherwise... there might be some Minecraft (Switch), and once I'm done with Scribblenauts I'll either finish Pokémon Alpha Sapphire or Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn.
Why limit it to Christmas? Heck, it might leave even more of an impression if you put this on and randomly stand by their bedside, waiting for them to wake up. Or wake them up by screaming "Pika pika!" at their face or something.
@Daniel36 To be honest I'm glad they included regional games because the entire point was to showcase bad box art and this makes for a bigger pool to draw from while also providing entries which many people might not be familiar with - obscure games is where it's at as you already said yourself. But that's just my humble thoughts here.
As for those entries, I... I don't even know what to say. Most of these can be justified to some degree at least, even that poor monkey getting clobbered with WiiMotes (which still doesn't make them any good but you can... kind of see where they were going with it), but that Real Madrid lettering is the most atrocious thing I've seen since our design-focused subjects at university.
@BenAV Untitled Goose Game caught my eye but I loathe stealth games and mere stealth sections (BotW's aggravated me to no end if this is anything to go by) so I'm on the fence. Mind telling me how heavy this game is on having to be stealthy? The review mentioned it not being that mandatory.
I'll be doing my usual Animal Crossing NL dailies/weeklies and Minecraft multiplayer things. Mario Party The Top 100 for singleplayer, maybe some Super Kirby Clash and/or Kirby's Dream Land 3 (SNES Online) for multiplayer, though I'd like to squeeze some Overcooked 2 in as well. Still the biggest blast I had in multiplayer that, it's such an amazing game.
@Doggedfrog Maybe New Horizons will be your chance to get her back into it? That being said, your profile pic is absolutely adorable!
Switch Lite is a nope for me. I do have a regular Switch and while I'm kind of forced to do my gaming in handheld mode these days being able to play on a TV is a must-have for me, especially when visitors are over. I have no reason to buy a second console especially if my current one has more - and very notable - features (no clamshell design on a portable-only device doesn't help either but that's no full-blown argument against either model since that's not what I buy Nintendo platforms for).
Personal stance aside, I do hope everyone who gets a Switch Lite will have a blast with it!
@dartmonkey Thank you very much for checking and for updating this article!
I own both LG Eevee and LG Pikachu, but somehow only LG Pikachu offers cloud backup for me, Eevee doesn't. I haven't checked whether it actually works because I feel like this must be some sort of mistake and don't want to take any chances, but the option is there (says save isn't backed up yet and when I click that it shows the usual upload/download cloud backup save screen). Which makes it all the more quirky that Eevee cloud backup works for ShinyUmbreon since it doesn't for me (as should be the case). Can't say I'm doing anything questionable/use anything unauthorised with my consoles or accounts either so no idea what's up with all this.
Addendum: Eevee was played not too long after release, Pikachu was played for the first time after all or almost all updates had been released. Eevee has been updated and they're both at the same version (both up-to-date), also Pikachu was a Poké Ball + bundle. These are the only differences I can think of.
As others have pointed out already some of these games do have cloud saves. I can second Minecraft having them and now I'm wondering whether official sources say they didn't.
@ShinyUmbreon Funnily enough it's LG Pikachu for me whereas LG Eevee doesn't have cloud saves on my end even though neither should. I have no idea how this happened, both games are up-to-date and bought new, in original shrink wrap, in a brick and mortar shop.
That's because he's grown up - look, he has teeth now! I guess instead of mocking him for not winning major competitions this could be used as a bromide how you should enjoy the journey and never give up and all these things.
Silliness aside, congratulations, Ash! Good to hear that he finally managed to score a big win.
Changing the song depending on file name is a fun touch. The GB totakeke version reminds me of old point & click adventures like Zak McKracken on PC with its beat, I love it. I also adore how off-key the modern versions sound in places.
That being said, thanks to having grown up with finding this little melody here and there (starting with Mario Paint, of course), it's strangely exciting and almost comforting to see it in modern games. It's like your ears were going "Hello, old friend, how's it going?" whenever you encounter it. It always makes me smile.
The usual Animal Crossing NL dailies/weeklies, Super Kirby Clash, and Minecraft are set in stone. Otherwise there might be Overcooked 2 - gotta 4 star those new DLC levels - and maybe Kirby's Dream Land 3 via SNES Online for multiplayer. Hard to say whether I'll be playing Story of Seasons this weekend since I've been neglecting it in favour of non-gaming hobbies lately (I know, utter blasphemy) but the urge to continue is only getting stronger. I love this franchise.
Honestly the concept sounds great to me. It'd be nice to see other games support these peripherals in the future since I don't replay stuff once I'm done with story mode and there's only so much you can get out of one game. But musings aside, this has my attention.
... Though I do have to join the "Who directed this and cast these two?" choir...
Man, I've been keeping an eye on this game since its reveal. I'm so hoping it'll get online co-op since that's the only way I can play multiplayer and I'd love to play this with my buddy. We've had such a blast beyond words with Overcooked and this looks like it has a very similar appeal (hilarity through chaos).
Kirby's Dream Land 3 because I've always wanted to play this and I've also always wanted to play platformers - especially Kirby ones - with my co-op buddy. It's been such a delight so far, I can't wait to continue <3
@BlackenedHalo I'd definitely love to see Kirby's Fun Pak(/Super Star) sometime, Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Super Bomberman 1 (would love to see 3 as well)... basically whatever would offer online co-op because there aren't many options if you're a Nintendo nerd who doesn't do PvP, doesn't play shooters, and basically sticks to first/second party games. And since my childhood gem number 2 is already there (Yoshi's Island), having gem number 1 as well would be amazing; this being: Terranigma.
Has anything been said what exactly its online mode entails? As in, will you be able to play through the entire main story in online co-op or will it be a separate mode entirely (think special quests/missions/whatever)? I do know that the former would make the most sense here but I've grown wary when it comes to online/co-op features after certain disappointments.
@Octane Honestly I might've picked EU had they used this version instead. Thank you for sharing this; I did feel like something was off there, namely like I've seen better PAL box art around for this game.
I adored Kirby Clash Deluxe and went for 100 % completion back then. At first I thought this was going to be a mere port (I was a bit too hyped and busy live commenting on everything with my friends) but was pleasantly surprised to find out it's not. The fact that it has friends only online co-op is like such a dream come true for me. KCD handled microtransactions well by not making you feel like you're forced to spend anything - also no stuff like loot boxes or gacha - while limiting how much you can spend in total, plus spending yields a permanent bonus on how many gem apples you get per harvest instead of merely providing a one-time thing, and it looks like they're going for the same concept here so no complaints from me. Played Super for a bit with my co-op buddy last night and had a blast.
I get that people are sick and tired of microtransactions due to their implementation - and so am I, trust me - but this is a case where it's not a trainwreck. But anyway, you guys keep on hating without giving it a chance to whomever this applies, I'll go enjoy this game.
C'moooon, gimme something nice! There are still so many first- and second-party franchises where I'm sorely missing a new entry - doesn't help that I'm in a game drought right now with absolutely nothing of note for me between Yoshi's Crafted World (late March) and Luigi's Mansion 3 (end of October). There's been lots of third party games last time which is genuinely nice for people who are into that but alas, I am not one of them.
It's free so hey, might as well go grab it. Thanks for the info, I really wish Smash would use a Switch News channel so I do appreciate having these articles at least.
Met up with some friends in ACNL today which was very nice. Other plans this weekend are Minecraft for multiplayer, Story of Seasons and Luigi's Mansion (3DS) for singleplayer.
Hope you have a nice weekend, everyone, and happy gaming!
Please get a physical release in Europe. Please get a physical release in Europe.
I've only played Mirai DX so far due to a lack of non-Nintendo consoles so I am definitely interested in this game. I've been yearning for an actual, good rhythm game (not those rhythm-based action games which seem to be a thing lately) and Mirai was good stuff.
@ummyeahnintendo As stated in the article it's 20 $ for season pass which includes three DLC packs, not just one single DLC (can't remember how much Carnival of Chaos costs as a standalone). Every DLC and free content update this game got so far has added a unique mechanic which does affect gameplay so it goes a bit further than just being a few cosmetic changes, too, in case that's of note.
@Deltath I do admit that I find it hard to tell which one is the English and which one's the Japanese pronunciation going by transcription alone so we might be talking about different things here. To elaborate, the pronunciation which feels utterly wrong to me is what you(/I've always) hear from English speakers, that long, emphasised 'oh'. What I use is the Japanese pronunciation; those 'o's do differ between English (way longer, "rounder" - think "oh" instead of "o-") and Japanese (short, not as "round"). It'd be a longer vowel at least if it were "Youshi" which it isn't, it's a short one, pronunciation differs, and it's clearly audible in those voice clips as well.

Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate Offering Free Spirit Board Challenge Pack To Switch Online Subscribers
It's free so hey, might as well go grab it. Thanks for the info, I really wish Smash would use a Switch News channel so I do appreciate having these articles at least.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 31st)

Re: Overcooked 2 Dishes Up Carnival Of Chaos DLC On 12th September
@ummyeahnintendo As stated in the article it's 20 $ for season pass which includes three DLC packs, not just one single DLC (can't remember how much Carnival of Chaos costs as a standalone). Every DLC and free content update this game got so far has added a unique mechanic which does affect gameplay so it goes a bit further than just being a few cosmetic changes, too, in case that's of note.

YES!!! I am SO DOWN for this, I freaking adore this game! <3
Re: Poll: How Do You Pronounce These Nintendo-Related Words?
