From developer Spotlightor Interactive and publisher indienova comes Candleman, a 3D platformer leaping onto Nintendo Switch next month.
Candleman doesn't look quite like your usual platform game, with its pretty art style and use of lighting helping it to grab our attention right off the bat. In fact, the lighting acts as the game's main mechanic and players will need to use Candleman's flame to guide them on their journey.
The titular character isn't the strongest of protagonists, though, and can only burn for ten seconds at a time. You'll need to light up the environment around you to overcome the world's challenges and obstacles, all while managing your limited skill as best you can. We've got a selection of screenshots for you to check out below.
Features:
- Unique low-light gameplay;
- Beautiful, dynamic lighting effects;
- Challenging levels with a smooth difficulty curve;
- An immersive fairytale that highlights everyday issues.
The game is scheduled to launch on Switch on 3rd October, with pricing set at $14.99. You'll be able to download it directly from the Switch eShop.

Candle's weakness = blown away by wind or soaked in water.
Better watch over the candle during playing.
I wonder if the game have a conflict with antagonist like typical 3D platformer games.
"This candle's on fiiirreeeee"
Here, allow me to help you with the phonetics on that byline:
"This candle's on fiiiyaaaaah"
This looks very interesting... I will probably get it at some point, but it may be on Steam for graphical reasons.
Excellent. I was hoping this would come to switch
Looks gorgeous, definitely keeping my eye on this one
Looks interesting. I'll hold off in Hope's of a physical release one of these days.
Feel shame for that tagline!
@ThanosReXXX - That's the opposite of helping!
@Paraka How so? Mine's phonetically correct, at least.
And besides, I was only kidding.
Okay, this actually caught my eye. Looks intriguing!
Pretty sure you’re not meant to capitalise every word in a headline or title. Only the important stuff, and the first and last words.
Pro-Tip!
I don't know... Looks pretty boring. Nice, but boring.
Ahhh, this one's was actually pretty good on iOS. The low-light setting was really refreshing, and lighting was superb. One of the few actually memorable mobile games I have played.
I like the concept and the artwork. I would like to play a demo to see if the puzzles are ones I would like.
Getting Little Nightmares vibes but more melancholy than creepy. I'll keep an eye out for it!
Looks interesting.
