@glutenfreegamer I totally understand. Maybe not for the same reasons, but maybe. This is one of those games that Switch is perfect for. You can play in portable mode so the wife and kids don't see this and wonder what is wrong with me. Bayonetta is a perfect example of this. How embarrassing that would be to explain to the wife and kids. Played the PS3 original before kids and when my wife was gone on a business trip. It is still an embarrassing game alone, but the gameplay is fun.
@coxy100 and others who only shop through Amazon you are eliminating retail competition. I understand you are finding yourself the best deal, but Amazon is not going to continue cutthroat pricing when all of their competition is gone. They can subsidize their business using AWS (cloud computing) that was subsidized by tax dollars as they slowly dismantle their competition. I used to feel the same way about Walmart and now they may be the only survivor against Amazon.
@Damo I actually started Advance Wars using Wii U Virtual Console before seeing your choice or the article about the best games. I completed it back on the Advance around 15 years ago, but thought I would take it for another spin. It was my favorite in the series that came to the west. Just finished off Wario Ware from that era too. The sad part is I own all of the original games, but bought them again on the Wii U because I love supporting Virtual Console and I love the Wii U. It's a sickness - I know.
I read Julien's comment and I can only hope it is just a kid writing such an uninformed remark. For those of us that have kids or those that have had to deal with the health issues mentioned above I can only say that there is nothing wrong with a 14 year old wanting a playground.
My daughter is in to it a little bit. I was a little too old when the original cards were released so I had to learn the game alongside her. I agree that it is an expensive game to invest in - luckily she only plays at the house so it doesn't matter that she doesn't have a competitive deck. None of the premier events are anywhere near my house. I refuse to Drive an hour to go to any of these events.
Shout out to all the people who donate their time and gifts to make these wishes come true. I didn't get to watch the whole video, but I hope Nintendo helped out their fan too. Makes you think about not taking this short walk we have here together for granted and finding meaning beyond our own pleasure and selfishness.
I have this game on the Wii U. One of the few I think, but I collected all Wii U release for North America. I had never opened it until my daughter who was 5 at the time wanted to play it. It is a pretty vanilla racer and even my daughter's interest waned quickly. Not the worst game I have ever played though.
Now it sits on the shelf and I have been tempted to drop it for $150, but my complete retail collection means too much.
Posting a "Do Not Feed the Troll" sign in front of the cage.
Amazon is out of control and will eventually take over retail and digital avenues if we allow it. They are just getting greedy now they want more money on top of a Prime subscription for this.
On a side note - anyone who games on the Xbox they announced that Game Pass will now include all Microsoft Studio games at launch. Gamers rejoice!
This is relevant Nintendo news. Prope built a few things for Nintendo systems and Nintendo directly. Also Square Enix makes games for Nintendo systems.
I enjoyed Monster Manor on Streetpass although Ultimate Angler was a let down. I haven't had a chance to play Rodea on the Wii U yet.
My guess is that Square Enix will have him working on mobile games, but I could see some of those coming to Switch.
To piggyback on my last comment - we might not be the target audience like some other parents because we don't buy our kids $900 phones and $500 tablets. These are change compared to what some crazy parents buy their kids.
I'm still skeptical. Retailers will buy initial shipments so it definitely won't be dead in the water, but translating that in to sales to end users might be hard. They need to take a brand new approach to marketing these. They can't rely on their normal channel. I think the initial price point is a little staggering too. I was all set to talk the mrs. In to buying these until I saw the price tag.
Only concerning thing as a parent is that I would be scared to let my kids out $300 of hardware in a cardboard contraption, buy my kids are only 3 and 6. Otherwise this would appeal to many parents in my community.
Skimmed the Japanese direct hoping some more games might be hiding out over there. Only difference appears to be Stardew Valley. I'm actually more diasapointed to see no Amiibo or 3DS announcements, but not really surprised.
Yawn. 2018 the year where ghosts of the past appeared. These games have all been played. Is there nothing of significance that is new? Here's hoping we get a major announcement for the second half of 2018 at E3.
Voted LOZ. I haven't had a chance to play XC2 otherwise I might have voted for it. I'm still playing XCX. I love the artwork a lot more than the new one.
I end up picking up everything they release for gold coins because I have so many. I filled up my 3ds sd card with the 3d movies that should have been free for everyone (kid Icarus, pikmin, Kirby). I still have gold coins expiring too. As I look around my office and see posters, calendars, and other various Nintendo items I earned back in the day it really makes me sad that they don't even give enough cool gold coin stuff that I can spend mine on.
I am a Christian and he has outright called God trash, and the people who believe in Him, from what I remember. Sega is operated by the Yakuza most likely so this is actually a fairly moderate promotion compared to the other promotions they could have run where people have money extorted, people killed, or welfare scams.
I have one puzzle left to complete and no one by me has the pieces when I streetpass. I really need this. Buying pieces is worthless when you only have a few missing pieces because you can go weeks or months without buying a new piece (only repeats).
I had actually read the rumors about Toys R Us getting ready to file bankruptcy about 1-2 weeks ago. They had been meeting with legal advice back then which normally means one thing. Along with suppliers asking for cash guarantees in holiday shipments the writing was on the wall.
So I took my family in to shop. Store is about 30 minutes away so we don't go all the time. Kids were able to pick up Splatoon gear (ink/slime guns, splat balls that look like squids, and some amiibos). Best you store to shop at. I used my $5 off reward and it offset the mark up on some items. I can afford to pay an extra few bucks here and there to keep an amazing store open. My kids are going to be sad when they have to look at a website to see if they want a toy or not. It will also be sad when that item is more expensive than even TRU because no competition is driving the prices down.
Many of you have already forgotten the days where Nintendo and Amazon were not doing business together (also happened with Disney, Warner Bros, etc...). Amazon could surpress sales of companies they don't like doing business with and there wouldn't be a Toys R Us, Gamestop, or Best Buy down the round to allow purchases once they are all gone.
I have read too many comments wishing the demise of Toys R Us and Gamestop today. Seems to be from people who truly don't understand how a retail store operates and needs to function to make money. These companies are not your friend they are there to make money for investors and to pay staff so they can survive. For everyone buying in to the Amazon way of purchasing you will be sadly shocked when all retail chains have crumbled and you are forced to pay whatever price Amazon is charging. It is already happening on many goods. Amazon has already started variable pricing based on supply and demand for goods that are hard to find in retail.
I agree the Wii U feels like the better purchase here. I know you can't take it with you, but if you have a Vita it sounds like that experience might be superior.
I actually am bummed by how many great Wii U games will never be relived on new consoles because the touchpad was so integral to the experience. Nintendo needs to release a visual touchscreen gamepad for the switch when it is docked.
Thanks for the article. I travel a lot on business. Most flights are 5 hours each way and I do end up with terminal time and hotel time. I love my Switch for hotel room because I can plug it in to the HDMI port and get playing. It is just too bulky for planes and terminals though. I still prefer my 3DS when out and about. I have only seen one Switch in the wild though. It was a kid about 7-8 years old and he had at a table in a restaurant. It looked like a wonky tablet until I realized he had the Joycons hiding in his seat while it was off.
I trust that if Nintendo implements them they will be unique and fun. Please not the lame screenshot method that PS4 has, and something different than XB1. Maybe when you choose a user their earned accomplishments show up in a 3D trophy room that can be arranged. Just something different. I feel Switch is the odd duck for Nintendo recently. I miss all the fun Nintendo stuff that is not present on Switch. Downloading Eshop title screen, fun music, game stats app, ability to alter menu screen, etc.... It has no Nintendo charm and no no sophisticated looks to compete with Microsoft and Sony.
I don't like an achievement system so that I can complete a game in an arbitrary manner. I like it though when I can compare with other gamers and see how we are similar by the games we played and what we did in them.
What is amazing about Famitsu readership is that they have a lot of 20-30 year olds reading. A generation that is usually more hesitant to invest in magazines.
I was more excited at this six month time frame with my Wii U. Far better line up of big games compared to a lot of indies. We all know how that went. There would never be another season of games like the Wii U launch. Only game that has really made the Switch superior to the Wii U is Zelda and the fact that the Switch can be taken in the road or played on the tv.
My hat is off to this courageous archiver. They are definitely racing the clock and storage limitations in their quest. @dazza Also great Blade Runner quote in the article.
I am in the minority in the fact that I feel the offerings have been disappointing. I'm hoping for a better future with less indies and cheaper prices. As I played Hello Kitty Kruisers with my daughter on the Wii U contemplating if it made more sense to sell the rare game or continue on with such madness I came to a realization. Now instead of buying a phone/steam port on a disc I can pay the same amount and only get a cheap download that feels even more of a rip off. At least on a cell you can go f2p for Voez and Gear.Club, but on the Switch you get to pay for that privilege. Ok, back to Hello Kitty. I can't think sell it on eBay and make my daughter cry.
Nintendo has HMDI also. "Hundreds More Dissapointments Incoming" when a SNES mini can't be found anywhere by real consumers. It should be TMDI for "thousands", but it didn't feel right since there are only a few hundred SNES minis that they are sending out. Don't feel bad my fine patrons because each store you visit looking for a SNES mini will have an ample stock of Animal Crossing Amiibo waiting for you to take them home.
Only makes sense for Capcom to support Switch if they can develop games and make enough profit to be worth their time. They can port games between Xbox, PS4, and PC and make good sales. Those same games will not work on Switch due to hardware limitations or until they can develop a way to get more power out of the Switch. It is hard for a company to support that going forward unless they are guaranteed huge sales.
@acridskull Not sure if you are claiming I am sexist because I wrote "naughty nurse". In all actuality I could have meant a male or female nurse. I have a few friends that are nurses (males and females) so I generally think of nurses as either gender although I still prefer to be helped by a female nurse myself. If it is a naughty nurse then even better.
I have so many gold coins with nothing to buy so I have been blowing them on the videos (Kid Icarus, Pikmin, Kirby) so my daughter can watch them on my 3ds. It is understandable why Nintendo offers more rewards for digitally bought games because they make more profit off them and it is their own store they are supporting. It is way cheaper to have a customer use their digital service than releasing a game physically through a supply chain.
@ban Mario Bros. did not have a water level. To be clear it didn't have any levels beyond the pipe level. I guess Super Mario Bros. and onward is the "modern" mario games.
These budget models are just confusing for parents. Had a friend almost buy one for his son until I told him the game he wanted wasn't going to work on it. I had been looking to buy a 2ds XL for my daughter and my wife is questioning why we can't buy the cheap one.
I don't see Nintendo making this work any better for one solid reason. Social gaming where you voice chat is not as big in Japan. Same reason the system has like one app. If it doesn't help their business in Japan then they will not develop it. End of story.
One of the main reasons that the Switch has been hard to play on unless I am playing with my kids is because it lacks any social network. Miiverse helped me feel part of something bigger than just someone playing random people online. Also Nintendo should integrate the friend system to show what your friends are playing on mobile and 3ds too. I understand why the Wii U would be excluded, but it would be nice to see what other online games I could connect with my friends on other than just seeing their recent played Switch library.
Always baffles me that people get so upset with opinions that don't match their own. Instead of understanding that everyone is different and even expresses themselves differently they send obscenities and hurtful responses. I like reading opinions different than my own because it helps me to establish my own opinions or even enter discourse to understand the other person. Keep em coming @sligeach_eire . I'm personally looking forward to news that Starfox 2 will be released through some sort of VC. I already have a SNES and most of the games included with the mini. No need to buy one or go through heartache of missing out on one.
I agree with the complaints that it is sad to see these Sega classics being compromised to play on the lowest common denominator cell phone. We can only hope they play better than the recent Mega Man mobile disasters. Yet everyone needs to take a step back and realize that Sega is going to make a lot more money through these cell phone ports than any console they would release these on. They make money by ads or by the users purchase and it is a continual revenue stream for the near future. A very smart idea from Sega. Nintendo would be wise to follow suit if they were not in the console business and saving all of their retro games for the forthcoming online service.

I understand why the Wii U would be excluded, but it would be nice to see what other online games I could connect with my friends on other than just seeing their recent played Switch library.
Re: Star Fox 2 Dev Is As Shocked As You About The Game Coming To SNES Classic Edition
Re: Sega Forever Aims To Revive The Company's Past On Mobile, But Could Come To Switch
