Re: PowerA Is Gunning For The Switch 2 Pro Controller With A New Pad

JetmanUK

@MarkSeteth72 I was going to skip the Pro 2 and stick with the Pro 1. The annoyance of no wake was just too much. Add to that the headphone socket, Chat button and general 'feel' and it's an upgrade I do not regret at all. Yes it's pricey, but that's Nintendo (and to be fair most gaming) these days.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Gets Another Switch 2 Patch, Further Improves Performance And Visuals

I've been enjoying this game and it's great to see they are supporting it really well, after clearly putting a lot of effort into the port. I hope it sells well for them.

My only real criticism is the ray tracing, I'm glad it's there and it works well a lot of them time, but when it looks like a kind of popping and fizzing it's quite distracting. I get that it's due to the use of less rays, and cuts were inevitable, but I wonder if the Nvidia hardware present in the Switch 2 can do a little better. Anyway, that aside, still an awesome version of this game and a Switch 2 essential!

Re: Digital Foundry Breaks Down Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 On Switch 1 & 2

My copy from The Game Collection arrived today, not a bad price for physical, in spite of all the complaints I don't feel ripped off.

I only played the first Galaxy back in the day, and not all the way through, so these games are quite new to me anyway.

I am glad that they are technically quite sound, although you would expect them to be anyway.

Re: Review: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (Switch) - Cracking Karting, But Struggles To Keep Up On Switch

JetmanUK

I've been playing this on Switch 2 and I think it's pretty great. For me if they just up the res (1080/1440? I can't see 4K on S2, let's see) and fps to 60 for the Switch 2 version I will be happy, it already looks pretty nice otherwise. As it is right now it's still very enjoyable, if you let your self not get stuck in Digital Foundry land.
I haven't played in on my Switch 1 yet so I can't comment on how it plays on there.

Re: Site News: So, Where's Our Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Review?

JetmanUK

I'm playing the Switch 1 cart on Switch 2, it plays really well. I'd say the only upgrades it requires are higher resolution and 60fps. Textures, lighting/shadows and geometry are fine as they are, up the res and frame rate and it will feel like a really nice version for the new hardware. I recommend it, I've enjoyed it a lot so far.

Re: Game-Key Cards A "Sales Strategy Decision", Says Resident Evil Requiem Director

JetmanUK

@Shepdawg1 100% agree.

The way I see it is that every GKC release is the equivalent of the old code in a box release, and much preferable to that, a real win actually.

And to reiterate I would prefer carts to be real carts with the game on, but even on Switch 1 we got part games which required downloads and codes in boxes. The issue I guess is how widespread the GKCs are. But yeah, I'm ok with them. Bored of the hate actually, and the click bait.

This is not a contradiction to the Star Wars devs comments about the carts being too slow for their game. Or to the Final Fantasy guys words either.

These comments are with reference to their particular Resident Evil game and their circumstances with regards to the business surrounding it. I see no contradictory comment here.

Videos are on YouTube proving that loading from cart is slower than SD Express, which is in turn slower than the internal storage, we need no further proof, I believe that the Star Wars dev was telling the truth.

Re: Review: EA SPORTS FC 26 (Switch 2) - A Fantastic Football Game, Once You're Used To The Frame Rate

JetmanUK

I'm going to do something very unpopular, defend EA, on this one at least.

Port last gen PS4 version at 1080/60 to Switch 2 - Ripoff! Legacy crap!

Port current gen version and it has a wobbly frame rate - Lazy Devs! Crap port!

Port current gen version, complete with all features and most of the graphics settings, but at 30fps - Lazy devs no 60fps no buy!

I personally hope it's just less familiarity/time with the Switch 2 hardware that is the issue and that optimisations can be made to FC27 with it still including all features/graphics of this year's version, but at 60fps.

I do think they are remiss in not offering a 120hz/40fps mode, and that could still be the way forward if 60fps remains off the table in future versions too.

I have it preordered on the Switch 2, in spite of having other options, let's see how it actually plays when in hand. I have played the Switch 1 FC 25 on the Switch 2 and inspite of that also being 30fps it plays absolutely fine, so I forsee no issues for me.

Re: The Force Isn't Strong With Star Wars Outlaws On Switch 2, Initial Impressions Suggest

@Cotter1 I have used the 'Contact' link on here to inform them that the article needs to be updated. I would just hate for a game where it appears that care was taken in porting could received such bad press, which will no doubt be shared all over and therefore result in poor sales, that would be a real shame.

I already had this game pre-ordered, with hope more than belief, but now I have belief, It's gonna be good!
