@GravyThief Honestly, kudos to you for being big enough to say you were wrong. Our world would be a better place if that happened more often with we humans. I also thought it was going to be a tough sell at that pricetag (was expecting 250) but I've been pleasantly incorrect too!
@memoryman3 I don't mind the Inklings, but I 100% am in favor of Daisy being a real, actual character in the game. I think Nintendo needs to use her more. A strong female character who already exists (and wasn't created just to be "a strong female character" for sales' sake) and such a contrast to Peach. She could be a speed character more than Peach is, with a distinct moveset and maybe not the average Peach Fluffy Dress-but-in-a different color. Give her the Mario Strikers outfit or something and make her UNIQUE. That is my biggest wish for both Smash Brothers and the Mushroom Kingdom cannon going forward. Daisy deserves to be out of the Peach shadow like Luigi has out of Mario's!
@legendwaker Seriously! Little Jimmy can wait a month and a half to play Mario and it will be even better when he opens it Christmas morning. It's absurd to think he can't wait. Sheesh. This world today is insane, needs a freaking game released December 20th or something? Ridiculous.
$20 a YEAR? NICE! I'm thrilled they are keeping it affordable! You bet I will be on board, as long as the service is halfway decent. I don't play online very much, but at under $2 a month that's a no-brainer.
I knew no one (in real life) with a Wii U, so MH wasn't as much fun as it could have been. Now that I have Switch owning friends? Yes please. And it's portable MH in HD? Sign me up!
I wish it wasn't pixel art (just feeling personally burned out on that style right now) but this looks right up my alley otherwise, so I'll definitely keep my eye on it come release! I think sports games combined with RPG elements is a great thing, as displayed in the old Mario Golf games Camelot used to make.
Garbage. One old fighting game doesn't sell so they don't release feature rich original content on the system while still putting everything they make on other consoles?
Looks pretty cool! I myself don't do Indiegogo, only Kickstarter, as with IG you can take the money and run even if you don't meet the goal. With KS you can still take the money and run, but only if enough people support you to make the goal. That extra level of pressure to deliver tends to make me less wary. Anyways, hope they do well with their campaign!
The E3 you're referring to, 2015, showcased the following games:
Star Fox Zero
Skylanders SuperChargers
The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes
Hyrule Warriors Legends
Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Fire Emblem Fates
Tokyo Mirage #FE
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer
Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival
Yoshi’s Woolly World
YO-KAI WATCH
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash
Super Mario Maker
While there's no Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey in there, I'd argue that is a pretty darn sweet showcase overall, and there are definitely games on that list that "people want to play." It was also the Muppet year, where the video had the puppet Iwata/Miyamoto/etc. which was perhaps one of the greatest Directs we've ever gotten. But I digress. Even non-Muppet fans had plenty to see during that E3 Direct.
@Evenmoresteven
"Are they really not going to show ANY 2018 stuff at all?"
There will probably be 2018 stuff. They rarely only show immediate releases at E3 time (in video form at least). Expect teasers (at the least) for some 2018 Switch games. It would be a surprise if there wasn't.
The whole program is pointless at this stage, so I just move on with my life and enjoy Switch games instead. Maybe one day they'll change it for the better, but if not, oh well. I'd rather they focus on creating amazing experiences like BotW than digital coin freebies.
I'd love to see this, especially as a series of "Deluxe" line games that include the DLC, ala Mario Kart. As long as it's balanced with new games (which seems to be the case, so far) it is a great idea since the Wii U didn't reach too many gamers.
@KIREEK Totally agree, Color Splash was amazing and deserving of a bigger audience!
It looks interesting, and I want to try it. That said, I'm not going to use this as a placeholder for a "real" Pikmin game. It just isn't. Let it be a fun side-thing, I say, so long as it doesn't delay REAL Pikmin 4.
@coolaggro Oh. I thought the point was to paint walls and floors and stuff? Maybe that's why I lost every single match, I didn't even understand the game, lol. I did spend one match doing nothing but trying to get ONE kill, and I managed it, along with 11 deaths.
@waluigifan1 I'd say it looks more like a Rich Man's Wii Boxing, and Wii Boxing is a Poor Man's ARMS. Seems like what Wii Boxing could have been if it wasn't Miis, no style, and inferior tech.
@Jukilum True, true. I just hope it has a low bottom tier because I could barely aim straight in this game, lol. I did, however, SUPER enjoy walking around painting walls in my little corner where things didn't immediately slaughter me!
Almost certainly buying both, so I just want to hear release dates mostly!
Also would like to hear about offline Splatoon 2 options, because I got WRECKED in the Testfire and it wasn't much fun. But if they include a robust single player or offline-co-op or something, I'll be able to train so maybe I can actually enjoy online multiplayer instead of being torn to pieces and it not being much fun...
I haven't played a BMX game since the old PS1/N64 days, but just looking at the graphics style of this makes me have fond memories of Tony Hawk Pro Skater (pre-ruining) and makes me really want a new Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Glad to hear this is a good option for 2D BMX fans!
@telecaster24 Oh I'm not surprised, definitely. Simultaneously, this sort of thing will remove me as a customer of the game for now. It is what it is, and my reaction gets to be non-surprised but firm.
Lame. This is the sort of thing that will cause me to reconsider a purchase. Ah well, plenty of other things to play. I wish the company all the best, regardless.
I'm so glad this game got a demo, I think people will try it and see what all the fuss is about and then grab a copy. It's just a joy to play! I'm really looking forward to giving 4 player mode a whirl when my friend brings his Switch (and JoyCons) over at some point.
Zelda is amazing, but Snipperclips is the perfect compliment to it that makes for a truly stellar Switch launch. A definite case of "quality over quantity!"
"Do you think Nintendo is cooking up a cloud storage option"
I think expecting anything "normal" on the subject of online from Nintendo is a bad plan at this point. History has shown the two realms (online and Nintendo) rarely overlap. So no, I don't see a cloud solution coming. I'm hopeful for just an update that lets us save saves to the SD card. And even then, I'm not getting those hopes up!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Fair enough, but also fair (I think) is that BotW is a Wii U game not designed and built for Switch from Day 1. Let's see if Mario Odyssey has any issues like this, and if so, I give your worry all the fair credit it deserves. Otherwise, it's a win all around because it shows the Switch will be just fine.
@Tsusasi And that's fine. It's hard not getting a ton of news, but I'd rather get less news than not-useful-psuedo-news, lol. I don't need to read an article about Uncharted 5 NOT coming to the Switch in place of simply no article about the Switch. Let's talk about useful things even if they aren't Switch related or something, rather than essentially "not-news" things just because they have the word Switch in them.
I am officially ready to be finished with the "This game isn't coming to Switch" articles. We don't need to know what won't be coming. We need to know what will. We can expect the things not announced to not come, no post about it needed. There are enough negative sites online about Nintendo being doomed.
I feel like we've lost sight of what the word "inspired" means. If something looks like it could have been pulled directly from what it was "inspired" by, it wasn't inspired by it, it was copied from it. Not that I'm going to make a case for that being good or bad, I just feel like we need to get the word inspired back on track... Otherwise the little word will lose all meaning.
Ah if only Nintendo would let them license F-Zero! Seems like it could be another situation like when Amusement Vision worked on the series, and we all won as a result.
I don't really consider anyone capable of seeing the future, so to me this is "Random Company Says Words" but if it was true and Switch managed 40 million, I'd be pleased. Of course, as long as I get Mario Odyssey in my lifetime I'll be pleased, ha ha. So... Bring it on, Nintendo! (Oh and Snipperclips too. Man, that game catapulted to the top of my list after the Treehouse Live on it!)
At this stage of the game I'm not buying anything on the Wii U no matter what the sale is. Console will be gone in another month and a half, so my money sits in a pot with the word "Switch" scrawled across in magic marker.
Games games games. Games will sell the console more than anything. They need to show games, and focus on them. Release stats or whatever after in boring text format.
@Dangerous25 Agreed, Color Splash is FANTASTIC. Totally above and beyond my expectations, which were "Why isn't this game like TTYD?" But while it is not TTYD, it is still a joy to play. So much great humor.
As for Y-L, I don't consider any confirmation it's coming to Switch true confirmation until it's out now, because it was "confirmed" for Wii U as well. So that trust has been broken, and only way to repair it is to actually release a Switch version, and not like 6 months after all the other versions please.
I'm most looking forward to the Switch launch. As long as Nintendo stays "doing well" enough to keep making games, I'm happy. I don't need them to be in first or whatever. Just okay enough to be Nintendo.
I'm happy for Europe to get a lot more deals than we in the US! Well, I guess I'll keep hanging onto my coins and hope that the Switch brings some things I want to spend them on.
