Re: Feature: Exploring The "Switch Tax" And Why Nintendo Was Right to Use Game Cards

@Tibob it is a vicious cycle, as already described in this article.

Going cheaper for digital could possibly bring its own problems. If you sell it for less digitally, why bother with a physical copy at all? If there's not a physical copy, and that would have to happen a lot, we could have another PSP Go situation where retailers wouldn't even sell the hardware. And I don't know how other people see it but I always prefer physical over digital.

@Tibob Sure, I give you that regarding the Street Fighter II thing. That was just a cash grab, releasing the 700th version of a game that's probably older than their target audience. What im talking about are more the games that are released in multiple platforms like LA Noire will be. Or new games.

And yes, the seller is responsible for making the product attractive to us consumers.

But if it is, we will have to accept that some games may be a bit more expensive than on other platforms right now. And that's not the fault of the 3rd parties. They exist to make money. And I can also understand that they aren't willing to accept a smaller profit margin when the consumer base isn't that big yet.

@Tibob Business does indeed work that way. If you put money into it, you have to make money back. And that only happens if consumers buy your products. That's how it goes. If they don't you can't cover production costs. If you can't cover production costs you can't afford to support a (for now) unproven platform like the Switch. And a few people who buy it in a year or two just doesn't cut it. That would be a big time loss. Big Budget Games work in a similar way how movies do. The big money is made in the first few weeks when people are talking about it, or possibly even buzzing about it when the product is really good. Later on, a few will buy the game/see the movie but that's peanuts compared to what is made initially. So when you want to wait until the price drops, you can just go ahead and don't buy it at all. It won't matter. That's nothing that developed since indie studios became more common. That's a fact. That's how business in the entertainment industry is done.

I'm kinda wondering why a site that's dedicated to the big N would even consider writing remotely positively about the violation of Nintendos intellectual property.

And why would I care as a fan about a project like that? There are only a few possibilities. Either it is terrible and could hurt the brand for people who are not too familiar with it or it's actually good and Nintendo won't do a proper version because it has already been done. Overall I'm absolutely against such things. Because it is not theirs to mess around with. When I create something I don't want others to do with it how they see fit either.

@FTPinkRabbit since I always turn off my Switch, I never encounterd said problems but it is well documented on the internet. If you leave it in sleep mode for longer periods of time, it may start acting up. Things like reacting slowly to input or like someone else replied to me, not getting out of the game anymore.

Re: Nintendo Switch OS Version 3.0.2 Is Now Live

@FTPinkRabbit I think it doesn't consume much power. But that's not why I want that feature. In the case of the Switch it just starts not working properly. And that's probably not that good for the game or the system. So I want to avoid putting it to sleep mode for too long.

Re: The Mega Man Movie Has Begun the Early Stages of Production

@SomeWriter13 yeah, I that's what I said too. Sometimes, pretty often actually people think they got something great on their hands, everyone involved is excited about it but then it turns out to be such a big pile of crap like Warcraft.

Sure "just make it good" probably was intended to say more than that but I reject saying it at all for the reasons I already mentioned. Just because you shouldn't see things only from a consumer or business standpoint. I want Mega Man to be good, but I'm not lighting my torch if it doesn't, you know?
