This weekend brought us another Splatfest battle in Splatoon 2, with Flight going up against Invisibility. Now the results are in, and it's more good news for Pearl fans.
Yep, flight triumphed when combining the NA and EU results - a bit like the battle between Mayo and Ketchup, the team with more votes lost out in the nitty gritty of battles. Check out the results below.
We reached out to the invisible man for comment, but couldn't really tell whether he'd shown up for the interview.
So there you have it - this writer is now 0-2 in Splatfests, so is distinctly unimpressed with the results. Were you on the winning side this time?

Of course.
As splatfest goes on, you will find that Pearl should win most of the competitions.
All because the pros go to Pearl while fans flock to Marina.
Can't help but to be happy about that. All those people obsessed with Marina and hating on Pearl deserve that. It's so weird that they get so worked up because of them. I'm glad that I think they're equally annoying so I don't care who's on what side.
It's so stupid how people just pick marinas side because they don't like pearl but that's where rje worst players end up it seems. It was clear to me last night after a few games that Invisibility was gonna lose.
@In_Ex_Fan Was a winner and made it to king state. 23 snails for me this time, and of course enough turf war till the next one.
I was struck with how silly cute pearl looks performing on that stage with the big hands and the enthusiastic jumps. This game has got some serious character.
Me and Pearl are on fire, Mayo and Flight yeah!
The matchmaking was completely screwed up for me, I constantly got in matches where I was the only person who knew how to play the damn game. Only 20% of my matches even felt half close in team matchups, the rest was a stupid carry fest. I hope they change matchmaking to be more fair in the future. Because [1good 3sht] does not equal [4 average] players, it should be matched up on a 1 to 1 basis, not this team average bullshiznit. Because it ain't working, and its frustrating to sit through.
The people on the invisibility side I played with were awful. This outcome isn't surprising.
I prefer Invisibility, but oh well. I've been on the Winning team 2/3 times so far!
I've won all 3 Splatfests so far. This happened in Splatoon 1 as well where I went 4-0 before going on a losing streak to 4-5 until I started winning again, from there it just went back and forth.
I missed it... 24 hours thats it?
feels bad for all the invisible people invisibly slurping ketchup in the corner
I'm surprised that marina isn't winning
Too bad I was away from home and only had time to play six games going 5-1 for team invisibility... maybe some day I'll choose the winning side!
R.I.P Team Invisibility. Still the better power, though.
@Manjushri That is not something to joke about.
@Manjushri makes sense for lib/dem logic only white people are racists lol I'm half white so based on their logic I'm 50% "racist"
2 for 2 so far (though the matches I played last night went decidedly the other way, probably best for my team I stopped when i did)
I'm now 2-1 (Ketchup, Ice Cream, Flight), and thrilled to have some bonus Snails! Good job out there, Team Flight!
No bias/favouritism, but I've sided with Marina everytime:
Ice Cream (of course)
Ketchup (despise both mayo and ketchup, but a tiny amount of the red stuff is bearable)
Invisibility (you can sneak into places and watch people "ink their Splat Zones")
I swear Splatoon has it out for me...
@bignrules Yay for randomly bringing politics into video games and making mass generalizations!
I was Team Invisible. Looks like we couldn't visualize our win.
I was surprised that the popularity vote was a lot less clearly in favor of Marina (48% vs 52%).
I didn't take part in the first regular Splatfest but for the Test Fire Splatfest it was 30% vs 70%.
I guess the Marina bonus faded quickly and most people are actually voting on the theme of the Splatfest instead of the characters.
Totally forgot that the Splatfest was yesterday but I picked Flight, so 2 Super Sea Snails for me!
I LOVE that we get snails even if your team loses as long as we rank up. I was terrified that losing would mean zero snails but I still got 21 (Inivisibility King rank)
"The team with Pearl/the minority has won every Splatfest and will continue to do so"
Counterpoint: Ice Cream beat Cake.
Both are superpowers that are ruined by science according to an old Cracked article. But assuming that there are no catches, I'd prefer flight.
@MetaRyan Pearl would top her cake with mayo. Of course she lost.
@Dev A pretty face can only get you so far.
I chose invisibility, but I forgot it was this weekend.
Of course I was on the winning team! Flight is a power for badasses. Not quite superspeed, but still pretty cool, lol.
@justin233 @SneakyStyle The first hours were awful for me. Almost every single matchup my Invisible teammates (which really felt like that) and I were painted up to the corner. I can break through, but without the rest of the team pushing, it was really all for nothing. Checking Splatnet2, my longest losing streak was around 12 battles, it was ridiculous! I even noticed the level spread was too huge sometimes. There were matches where I had single digit levels on my team going up against Flight teams of only 30's and 40's! Just like Splatoon 1, it seems the standard Turf War matchmaking that keeps the low levels together doesn't apply to Splatfests. Sigh. Things got better by the end, but I feel the heaviest damage was done in the beginning. But yeah, matchmaking needs to really be looked at right now.
Protip for Beginners: In Splatfests, don't concentrate on inking your territory before engaging the other team in the beginning of the battle! That standard Turf War strategy DOES NOT WORK in Splatfests! ALWAYS rush to meet the other team in the middle! You may get splatted, you may not, that's ok. Use the fresh respawn to ink another path to the middle to rejoin the team. And, situation depending, use the last 15 seconds of the battle to ink all the turf you can see. I've had so many losing battles that turned into winners just by making a final 10-15 second push for turf.
@Jumpman
Ah, creepy!
I dominated winning 9 out of 12 matches for Invisibility. But had a wedding, and couldn't contribute more. Bummer.
2-1 so far, lost the Ketchup fight, but won the other two.
@LegendOfPokemon Haha, same for me, i joined Flight, did one battle, and thats it's, slowly gaining them snails yo!
I'm 1-2 in Splatfests... I chose Ice cream, ketchup and invisibility... Not going good for me...
I played mostly in a squad, and on the whole the calibur of player was genuinely very good (I was on Team Flight), most matches were supremely close each time, including two 0.1% victories.
Team battle is where it's at, baby.
@Hillis actually you couldn't peep on people since invisibility would be impossible without being blind. You need light hit your eyes to see things. And when you're invisible, that doesn't happen.
@SneakyStyle How are they supposed to do that?
So if you end up being unlucky doing some matches with bad players and keep losing, you will be flagged as a bad player as well.
That is going to be way too complicated and makes match making even worse than it already is. Unless you are fine waiting 30+ minutes until the perfect balanced match is found? LOL! /shrug
Like others already said, you just choose the popular side with Pearl haters which seems to attract most of the bad players.
There is nothing Nintendo can do to that.
Never played a single match....... too busy☹️
@masterLEON Everything you describe was EXACTLY my experience this Spatfest, too! Every detail.
@Sean161 You can go to Murch, the urchin kid, on the side of the lobby area by Pearl and Marina's studio. He can open a slot on a piece of gear (max 3), reroll existing abilities on gear, or scrub the piece of gear of all abilities (giving you ability chunks) for one snail per go, which would otherwise cost about 20,000 cash.
You can also order new gear, or variants of existing gear with different main abilities, through Splatnet2 on the Switch app and complete the purchase through Murch, as well.
@Sean161 Snails are special currency. Murch pulls them out of the shells, and gives them to Spyke, the grown-up Urchin in the coffee shop near Murch, in exchange for gear services. Spyke eats them. All this isn't shown nor said explicitly. But we all knows what's up.
@Sean161 Well, when you go to Murch to scrub, reroll, etc. he will use one of your snails instead of cash. This is automatic, you don't do anything else. However, I recommend expanding slots first because I believe you have to be a certain level (30?) in order to pay for it in cash. The other actions can be paid for if you really need to.
Scored 16 shell things, though I'd be happier if I could just convert them into cash or EXP. Splatfests seem too short to allow folks on differing schedules to enjoy it. A full Fri, Sat, Sun would be ideal.
@Kalmaro well you know how their logic goes if they don't like the outcome your a racist and work for the russians
