UK high street retailer GAME is celebrating Euro 2020 by giving away exclusive Pokémon England Futsal trading cards – and it should come as no great shock to learn that scalpers are already selling them for massive amounts online.
The first of the exclusives, Eevee England Futsal Promo Card, and the second, Grookey England Futsal Promo Card, have already been released, with GAME reporting plenty of demand from fans to secure them. The third, featuring Scorbunny, will be available from tomorrow (18th), subject to availability and whilst stocks last. All of the Pokémon in the range are seen wearing England national team football shirts.
It would seem that the first two cards are now unavailable, with prices on eBay already on the rise:
To get the latest card – which is available online with selected bundles and throughout English GAME stores – you'll need to spend £15 on Pokémon Trading Card Game product.
While the four England Futsal Promo cards are only available to GAME customers, there's a fifth special card on offer, too, which features Pikachu.
To be in with a chance of getting it, you need to register your Club for The FA Pokémon Youth Futsal Programme. You see, the cards are part of a collaboration with England Football to promote Youth Futsal and "encourage participation in this highly skilful and exciting version of football."
But that's not all:
GAME is also offering a second promotion – a chance to encounter and battle Gigantamax Sandaconda from 18th June to 18th July 2021. This GAME exclusive will be available across all stores and online, with no purchase required. Get your special code to receive a Dynamax Crystal in Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield – whilst stocks last. Using this Dynamax Crystal will create a special Max Raid Battle available in your game where you’ll be able to face Gigantamax Sandaconda and attempt the Max Raid Battle as many times as it takes to win, or until midnight on the day that the Dynamax Crystal was used.
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is having something of a bumper period at the moment, with 3.7 billion cards being sold in 2020.

It is vexing when people are buying something not out of genuine desire for the product (amiibo's, games, trading cards etc.), but just for scalping. Stuff like this ruins the joy of collecting most of the time. Especially when they are being given these cards for what appears to be free.
Those prices...the Eevee is cute but not that cute.
Ever since the next gen consoles released, scalpers have been more prevalent. Don't buy Pokémon cards from these people, it's not worth it.
I hate people sometimes
Does anyone play for fun anymore?
Something that was a fun hobby in the 90's, turned into nothing more than a money-making scheme at the expense of genuine fans.
What a world we live in.
they wearing England kits so what those cards do? They never win a title perhaps?
Hopefully the anti-scalper bill will go through soon, and these ***** will need to get a real job as opposed to operating as second rate con artists.
Never pay a scalper, folks.
@Iggy-Koopa I read threads about scalping and you will be surprised how many people respond with "Well if I do not care about money why not buy what I want from who I want."
So there you go, wealthier people do not care what scalping does as long as they get what they want. After all "iTzZ mY mOnEy!!! DuUuUhHh!"
I have no problem paying money for things I like at higher prices, BUT not from scalpers, only for retro stuff.
@Northwind I have not abandoned collecting amiibos and limited editions etc yet, but I must admit that I have been tempted to do so multiple times, so I can definitely sympathise.
@abdias Ouch, that cut a little too deep.
@Zuljaras "So there you go, wealthier people do not care what scalping does as long as they get what they want."
I can understand why they think that, but I wish more people understood that just because you can afford something, doesn't mean what you are buying is worth that price. Until they get that mindset, we stuck with the results. =(
@Zuljaras Ah well, let them waste their money. For everyone else though, these parasites are a pain on the arse (to put it mildly).
@Iggy-Koopa Yes but those are the people that feed the scalpers. They are the main reason that scalpers exist. And they will continue to do so as money is no obstacle for them.
It's really not Nintendo's fault that you let society get to the point where wealth inequality is so extreme that the vast majority don't have a living wage while others have such extreme wealthy they literally can not spend it so they are willing to pay $100 for a card give away or $20 for an empty paper bag from McDonalds.
This is only getting worse. If you can't blow $100,000 and not even notice, you might want to accept that in a few years NOTHING of limited quality will be available to you, ever.
Just auto replace the word 'Scalpers' with 'C*nts'. Job done
@fox_mattcloud only sometimes?
Yet another reminder of why I have loved the GBC versions of the TCG, and why we need a new one on Switch more than ever (as opposed to the F2P crap on PC/tablets).
Have they not learnt that scalpers ruin the fun. Where are the days when you just give away free cards with no catch. Now you put it behind a paywall making you spend at least £60 just to have all 4 of the available 5.
