Surely we can have both, right? A game with tightly designed strategy combat but also complemented by deeper social sim elements and an involving narrative.
I guess having a Fire Emblem title without the series’ signature gameplay would just feel… wrong. And that’s coming from someone who’s predominantly a Three Houses fan with only a passing interest in the rest of the series.
Regardless, it won’t be an easy task for another FE game to reach Three Houses’ sales numbers and popularity, unless they do the same thing again. The whole game seems to have been made with social media discussion in mind, from its Harry Potter-esque setting to its controversial character motivations, I’ll be surprised if future entries match its level of discourse.
There’s only so many live service games a person can reasonably play, and chances are it’s gonna be one of the well established ones instead of whatever new Fortnite wannabe these companies put out.
They’re definitely setting themselves up for disappointment by not realizing that.
So… where does this leave the Switch 2 release date speculation? Sure, they could announce the games for the latter half of 2024 at a June/July Direct… but it does seem likely that they’re saving the good stuff for an eventual system reveal.
Harsh as it may sound, this game to me feels like it’s straight out of the bland era of Mario that plagued the Wii U and 3DS years. Clearly just something made to capitalize on that Mario movie hype.
Is anyone gonna talk about how this patch is a whole 5 gigabytes? Surely there has to be more under the hood to justify this, GameFreak’s optimization can’t be THAT bad.
Super Mario Odyssey definitely, I’ve actually avoided looking at any gameplay of it for the past 3 years or so just so I can re-experience it as freshly as possible (though, there’s only so much I can forget about such a memorable game).
Is this game worth getting? It looks fun but really basic and a tad stiff. I can enjoy simplistic RPGs as long as the world and characters are enjoyable, would this be the case here?
Not being able to alter the patterns in clothing items is such a weird omission for a game that’s about designing “your own” outfits. I don’t know if this was a feature in the previous games, but it certainly feels lacking here.
What a great start to the music collab! Deco’s songs are a bit hit or miss for me but this one managed to exceed expectations. Now, the PinocchioP one has me REALLY excited, can’t wait for when it drops!
November is PACKED for JRPG fans!! That Star Ocean remake looked really interesting to me despite having no experience with the series, so I’ll probably get that before Mario RPG and P5T.
A whole lot better than the last two, yeah sure most of the announcements were remasters and ports but there were some pretty big new games too, great Direct all around.
This is just sad, there’s so much potential for an actual Miku RPG game in a style similar to this one but this is what we got. Unfortunately it seems like Crypton isn’t really interested in doing more than the bare minimum for Vocaloid games, even the Diva series has stagnated at this point :/

Re: Poll: So, What Are Your First Impressions Of LEGO's Zelda 'Great Deku Tree' Set?
I can’t imagine displaying this thing and then having to clean when it inevitably gets covered in dust, there’s so many delicate little pieces 😰

Re: Splatoon 3's Latest Splatfest Chucks Cute Baby Animals Into The Ring
It’s funny to think that none of these animals even exist in the Splatoon world lol

Re: Pokémon Presents February 2024: Every Announcement, Full Livestream
I’m just glad they’re taking a year off, now let’s hope this Legends Z-A comes out late into 2025 and not in January.

Re: Disney & Epic Creating New Entertainment Universe Connected With Fortnite
@solarwolf07 They could give Mickey an assault rifle and it’d still feel like sanitized corporate shlop when compared to Epic Mickey
Re: Disney & Epic Creating New Entertainment Universe Connected With Fortnite
Disney games peaked with Epic Mickey and it’s been all downhill since then.

Re: Feature: 16 Best Nintendo Switch Soundtracks Of 2023
Little Goody Two Shoes was my favorite by far, all of its tracks are extremely hummable and boast a lot of variety. Truly an under appreciated gem.

It’s… a roguelite?? Now that’s way different from what everyone was expecting. Not bad, just different.

@TimeGuy And Arven’s Masbostiff from Scarlet/Violet! Such a memorable pup!
Re: Feature: Our 17 Favourite Dogs In Games - Canine Companions & Memorable Mutts
No Eraser Dog from Mario Maker? He might have erased Peach’s castle in the story mode but who could be mad at him honestly
