Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Price?

Gryffin

@RealDoctorWho42 I agree with you if your point is regarding whether or not they respect their customers. But they're great at business decisions with the objective of increased revenue and stock value. They're a very smart capitalist organization. They invest exactly as much money as needed into a game to sell they're target number of copies. Like Mario Golf: Super Rush. It could be better, but an extra 10% or 20% investment would not net an equivalent return. Same with whatever the new Mario Party is called. It's essentially a port, but it has only 5 stages. Why? Because another 5 stages wouldn't sell more copies, and also they might sell more stages as DLC, which WILL be effective because they know they're audience is willing to pay more.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass Price?

Gryffin

@Darkyoshi98 That's completely false. Sony and Microsoft give at least two free games every month, and they're almost always relatively new. And, they have discounts for subscribers. Nintendo release like one rom a quarter that isn't worth playing anyway. I've never been opposed to the $20 price, since that's basically paying for online play. But this Expansion Pack cost should literally be a crime. If Nintendo cared about their customers, they'd release the Expansion Pack for free. They're roms of games that are at least 25 years old, and it cost them probably $2 to port them. Heck, the NES roms are running on the same emulator as Animal Crossing for GameCube.

Re: Metroid Dread Report Volume 9 Outlines Some Tweaks To Key Features

Gryffin

@TheBigK it can be very frustrating. A lot of people recommend Fusion over Super for this reason: it's practically linear in comparison. I used a guide or forums several times to finish Super Metroid. Save states were also extraordinarily helpful (Wii U). One thing I know for a fact, when you find the quicksand, just open a guide.

Re: The Point & Click Sale Discounts 10 Games On Switch

Gryffin

I haven't played many point-and-click adventure games because I typically find them extremely obtuse and the puzzle solutions arbitrary. For example, I was very excited for Primordia because I love the aesthetic, but I didn't enjoy it at all. I'm not sure I solved a single puzzle without looking up the answer. HOWEVER, a few days ago, I started another adventure game on Android that I'm g loving. Tormentum: Dark Sorrow. It's on PC, Mac, Android, and iOS. The world is so interesting. I love the artwork and mood and sound. There are some interesting decisions regarding loyalty and betrayal. And most importantly, the puzzles actually make sense, mostly. I've had to look up two items I couldn't find. Very fun, highly recommended.

EDIT: Literally just finished it. Excellent game.

Re: New Pokémon Legends: Arceus Trailer Reveals Brand New Pokémon, Kleavor

Gryffin

Top 6 Pokémon. I used that one Pokemon selector website a while ago; don't remember the name. You'll notice they're all from Blue and Silver because those are the ones I've played. I also played about half of Black but didn't finish it. And now I can't find my cart There were definitely a few Pokemon I loved in it though. But a lot of them were grass type, which was super frustrating because I don't need like 6 grass type Pokemon and don't have a dozen hours to train them just because.

1. Vaporeon
2. Scizor
3. Magmar
4. Charmander
5. Haunter
6. Lugia

If I were to keep going, off the top of my head, I'd say Hitmonlee, Ampharos, and Mew.

Re: Best Castlevania Games On Nintendo Consoles

Gryffin

Aria of Sorrow is the only Castlevania I've played through, on my masterpiece of a console Wii U. I enjoyed it. Afterwards, I bought Symphony of the Night on PS4. It's impossible. I think I'm an hour in and I can progress no farther. I've never understood the appeal of unnecessarily difficult games.

Re: Splatoon 3 Gets A New Trailer, Story Footage And Has A Crab Mech

Gryffin

I think that Splatoon is one of the best games ever made, and certainly one of the best multiplayer shooters. I don't have a Switch, so I haven't played Splatoon 2 yet. But knowing what I do about it, and what I've seen of 3, the game is getting too complex. For those who have played both 1 and 2, what is your opinion? For me, the additions don't seem to add much to the gameplay; they just unnecessarily complicate it. Do you feel that Splatoon 2 is objectively better than 1? Do you feel that the new weapons and perks have improved the experience or competition? What is your opinion on 3 so far?

Re: Nintendo Reveals Three More Classic Boards For Mario Party Superstars

Gryffin

I think they're probably capping the board count at 5 because then they can release more boards later as either paid or free DLC. It's a win/win for Nintendo because the cost of making more boards for the base game wouldn't be offset by the additional sales the inclusion would earn. Then Nintendo can release more boards as paid DLC for obvious reasons. Or they can release them as a free update to boost player morale about their purchase and also re-insert themselves into the news cycle for a bump in sales. The decision is purely strategic.

Re: Nintendo 64 And Sega Genesis Expansion Pack Announced For Switch Online, Launches This October

Gryffin

Nintendo's pricing practices are unethical. They're releasing a handful of decades-old roms, which required no additional effort for their Switch release, and asking for more money. I'm guessing another $10, like many of you already have. They're charging more because they know they will get it. The one truth about companies in a capitalist economy is that they will charge whatever people are willing to pay. They're a publicly traded company and their mission is to make money; I get that. But this is unethical. I truly feel Nintendo does not care about their customers.

Re: Random: Xbox's Phil Spencer Reveals His Favourite GameCube Game

Gryffin

I love Phil Spencer, and I've never owned an Xbox. His strategy has singlehandedly changed the medium. Xbox is now and forever will be backwards and forwards compatible. With game pass over the cloud, you can even play X|S exclusive titles on an Xbox One. It's an egalitarian approach. No matter what you own or where you are, you can play Xbox. The others are falling behind rapidly. Only Sony's fandom and exclusives will keep it alive, but not forever, unless they adapt quickly. PS Now has to catch up in streaming quality. Though they're finally offering 1080p, it doesn't even run well enough to support 720p. And it doesn't have mobile support yet. And they probably need to include their exclusives like Xbox is. Sony has a totally different business model, but I think they're being very quickly outpaced and out-innovated by Microsoft.

Re: Best GameCube Games

Gryffin

@I_commented thanks for the encouragement. I think I'll give it another shot when the time is right. Always too many games to play am I right?
