So I played this at a kiosk at Target the other day and halfway through the 15 minutes I started feeling queasy. I blamed it on the cable forcing me to be too close to the tv. I really hope I can play this when I get round to buying it… Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart was the first game that would consistently cause motion sickness and I really hope this one doesn’t do the same as I’m more interested in this game…
Tetris Effect is incredible but I need to give New Tetris for N64 a shout cuz it’s the only one I can remember that had the square making mechanic and I absolutely loved that. My brothers and I played that game SO much. Also I really liked Tetris DS with the various Nintendo game themed levels.
@JayJ yeah I really like an upper placement for my joysticks. The Wii U pro controller was great for this and also the fact that it had Nintendo style buttons meant that A and X are still the same distance from the stick which I feel is an overlooked bonus of the Wii U Pro controller.
This happened to me with Chameleon Twist. But the weird part was in that case I had entirely convinced myself that was the N64 Yoshi game. So my memory was controlling Yoshi and using his tongue to attack but having control over his tongue (it seems like a gameplay mechanic that would be applied to Yoshi in a 3D space) but no it was Chameleon Twist all along…
I’m glad they’re making this. I was a little upset that they only made a Nendoroid for BotW. I have the Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword Link figma figures and they’re great.
I feel like there’s a lot of focus on the visual upgrades. But there’s definitely something to the platforming that has a different tone. I felt like I got some Rayman vibes off of this. Like the “New” series felt like it was just the old 2D Mario games with modern graphics but this feels like they’re actually doing something with the flow of it.
The Bond comparison might be the best sample of this with movies. Like the OG Bond movies are great but coming out of what action movies are today: your Marvel movies, your Daniel Craig Bond, it can be a tough sell to go back and watch Sean Connery.
I’m glad the votes are showing in support of the music. I would really miss it if this stopped. Fallout in particular always made me happy with the old timey music juxtaposed on the wastelands.
I stumble onto fandom every now and then and it is the most annoying experience to use on a cell phone. Whether that’s by design to get you to accidentally watch the videos/ads or if they’re just out of touch thinking that the video doesn’t take up much of a computer monitor (meanwhile taking up half of my phone’s screen) either way it’s a terrible experience every time.
I stand with Ollie. Mewtwo will always be my go to for collectibles and things. It was the first ultimate Pokémon. Especially back when psychic type was wildly OP and then here was this Pokémon that was meant to be OP. I remember just going back and basically sweeping the Elite 4 with it over and over and using him to wreck most of the Pokémon Stadium content.
I have SUCH fond memories of this game. Not having had a PS1 I did not know where Castlevania had gone with it’s direction, I got this game for my birthday one year and was a little reluctant because all I’d played was Castlevania 1 on NES and Castlevania Adventure on GB but I absolutely fell in love with it and it has now unfolded into being one of my favorite genres all due to this game.
The difference between this and other companies using similar logos is that the other companies using similar logos aren’t making gaming consoles… I feel like that’s grounds for a lawsuit.
@samuelvictor are we talking the Goombas or the Toads not being mushrooms? Also I think a fascinating part of the original story from the English manual is that the toads were transformed into everything by King Koopa. Like I’m fairly certain the bricks you break are technically toads.
I seem to remember this as a regular thing for the French there’s lots of computer terminology that has its own unique French word vs being a French sounding variant of the word most other languages use.
This actually makes a lot of sense. Because I think anything that’s NOT Switch-like would be a huge mistake but if it’s too Switch-like you get into Wii U territory.
If I could buy Fire Emblem Three Houses with some ugly box art for $20 I’d do it. I wonder if the strength of digital sales is impacting this. Like they could reprint a game with the Player’s Choice tag but it would still be limited vs having to also drop the price of infinite amounts of digital sales.
I played it for a little bit, got a little hooked for… basically no reason. Once I realized I was just caught in it’s loop of doing daily quests I put it down. The free-to-play elements have you hitting walls of power scaling with the enemies I remember being caught in a spot where the world was at a level that I was barely able to survive in but the materials I needed to level up required extra hard bosses. I would’ve preferred playing on the Switch but a 2 year delay is absolute insanity. Also I know maybe this game isn’t the place for it but I wanted a more masculine character in it, like I know the audience and I get that anime has a certain style but can’t there be someone like Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist.
@nocdaes this is the trouble I have with headphones and ear buds in particular. I really want to know what it sounds like before purchase but that involves putting it into my ear and there’s no situation where that seems okay for anyone involved.
@eaglebob345 yeah I don’t quite understand how PS3/360 era games aren’t running natively on the Switch. The only thing I can think is the cartridge space which for some games they do additional downloads. Though that’s a whole other can of worms.

There’s so many at a similar price point that have much more detail and accessories.
