Re: Talking Point: The Build-A-Bear Animal Crossing Collection Is A Bit Rubbish

Grahamthecracker

I don’t really know what anyone expected from the character choices... these are the 2 most logical options I see no difference between this and Pikachu and Eevee being the first Pokémon releases. They’re the 2 most recognizable mascots. An argument could be made for KK Slider but Isabelle garnered a lot of fandom from New Leaf. When the game released on the same day as Doom Eternal all the fan art was Isabelle and Doom Slayer.
I can get the disappoint ent with regards to the actual “build-a-bear” process but it’s all online currently so....

Re: Soapbox: The Insect Glaive Is Still Awesome In Monster Hunter Rise

Grahamthecracker

I go back and forth between insect glaive and hunting horn depending on how I’m feeling. It could just be me but the insect glaive in Rise feels slower or clunkier vs World. I only really played World and that has a bit of a different feel all over.
Edit: auto correct does not like the word glaive. (One got changed to glance the other changes to flavor)

Re: Dev Explains Why Nintendo Made Mario's Anniversary Games Limited-Time

Grahamthecracker

@DocRompler yeah this is the problem. They made it so literally the only current legal way to play this game is this thing they only made available for 6 months. I bought it because I never played Sunshine and barely played Galaxy but I honestly waited until I had the chance to get it used. Maybe it doesn’t matter but I felt a little better about it.

Re: Check Out The Reveal Trailer For Demon Skin, Hack-And-Slashing To Switch Later This Year

@OldManHermit yeah Castlevania Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate and the Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate game have basically destroyed the concept of 2.5D in my mind. I don’t mind depth to backgrounds like the 3Dish effect from Shovel Knight or Ori and the Blind Forest or Hollow Knight but when you have a Metroidvania that relies on a sprawling map and revisiting places you can’t have the map look 2D but also go “around corners”. This game may or may not be a Metroidvania I’m just giving my opinion on the 2.5D games I played which involved that genre.

It’s mind blowing to me that they silently released a mobile port of Symphony of the Night but still haven’t put it on the Switch where it could make fat stacks of money for them.
My dream is for them to release a “modern” Castlevania collection. They did that anniversary one, and that to me is a collection of all the Castlevania games I couldn’t get into. But please give me Symphony of the Night, give me all the ones from the Game Boy Advance/DS. I love “Metroidvania” and they feel SO good on the Switch to me.

Re: New Nintendo Patent Suggests A Standalone Switch Joy-Con Could Be On The Way

So I had this weird idea about a possible Switch Pro that I thought would be cool... but then I realized I just backed into wanting them to remake the Wii U which is probably a bad idea.
My train of thought was: if they made a console only unit I’d probably buy a Switch Lite because I’d miss the portability and the Lite is actually a really nice unit. But then maybe there could be some sort of functionality that would make a Lite and a Pro more symbiotic (so I wouldn’t have to have 2 separate Animal Crossing islands) like maybe you could stream from the Pro to the Lite. Aka the Wii U... again...
To be fair to my theory one of the biggest gripes about the Wii U I heard a lot was “but why can’t I just take the tablet controller with me out of the house?” This would be exactly that.

Re: Team Cherry Discord Riddle Reveals A New Hollow Knight: Silksong Character

@sonicbooming I don’t discourage using FAQs but I will say the game is very open in its options to how you play. I didn’t even realize this until I was comparing where I was in the game with a friend and we had roughly similar percentages of completion but our paths were drastically different. He hadn’t gotten the Tram Ticket and while I had spent a lot of my time filling out the map down on those levels he had an entirely different are done that I assumed I couldn’t access.
Don’t know if that made sense but it’s less linear than most Metroidvanias and that’s incredible to me.
Also the controls are some of THE tightest controls in any game and in fact ruined some other games for me when I went to play them again. Namely it’s hard to play Rogue Legacy, another fantastic game that’s kind of similar, because it feels floaty and unresponsive by comparison.

Re: Review: Exit The Gungeon - Fine-Tuned Action That's Less Compelling Than Its Forerunner

Grahamthecracker

I feel like there’s a lot of misunderstanding with this game. It is not a sequel it’s a spin-off/follow up. That may sound like splitting hairs but some seem upset at this being a bold direction to take the sequel. This is not that. This is just them messing around making another game in the series like how Shovel Knight is making Shovel Knight Dig. Shovel Knight Dig is not a sequel to Shovel Knight. All of the wording in Devolver’s descriptions, and even in this review, specifically do not classify this game as a sequel. Rant over.
Haven’t played it yet but I’ve been waiting for this on Switch since it released on Apple Arcade because I’d rather have the controller. 7/10 feels like what I would expect out of this so sounds good.
