Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has been in the headlines a lot recently, hasn't it? We got three brand new DLC character announcements in the form of Jenny (who you can play as now), Hugh Neutron, and Rocko. And following the DLC's announcement, lead artist, character designer, and programmer Thaddeus Crews has requested that people stop using a particular term when talking about the game.
Well, given the news swirling around this fun fighting game, the lovely Alex decided to hop online one morning (BST time, of course) to see if he could play with anyone online. And he did! Alex did manage to get in a few games and had a ruddy good time with it too! It's good to see that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is still a laugh with others — and it looks pretty stable, too!
Also, we never thought we'd hear anyone say "Is Garfield like, a glass cannon?" Thanks, Alex. That alone makes the video worth watching, plus Nigel Thornberry's smooth moves. You also get to see Jenny in action!
If you're one of the people who played with Alex, drop us a comment! Or just share your thoughts on All-Star Brawl with us.

From what I heard no one really played the game, that or matchmaking just sucks but I don’t think that’s the issue.
I’m so disappointed in nick for getting these talented devs, and just sidelining the game the way they did.
Smash Killer had like 190 active players on steam the day they revealed more characters coming.
So yeah, it's dead.
I feel like Nick All-Star Brawl is too little, too late. My interest in the game faded pretty quickly, and the recent DLC characters have not revitalized my interest in the game that much. If people still like it, more power to them, but the lack of content, voices, and crossplay killed my interest in the game pretty quickly.
Yes, who is playing Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl? Not many from what I can tell.
Also, “Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has been in the headlines a lot recently, hasn't it?”
Has it? All I can recall is the dlc and “Smash killer” headlines in recent times.
Going free to play might save the game, it has to compete with Multiversus now.
But they're changing money for three new fighters instead.
It's fifteen minutes of fame came and went, and the dlc's might not be enough to put it back in the limelight.
I got the game for Switch, don't play it very much. Waiting for more. But i see a market in it. Waiting for voiceacting, which was announced.
Other than being a successor to Slap City, the game doesn't really merit anything remotely unique. It just sort of...exists...
Never played that game to beginn with. Didn't see a reason to play that instead of SSBU. Also the fact that I don't know any characters beside the Spongebob characters didn't help either
I still quite enjoy it. The online died off pretty early on, but I convinced a buddy of mine to buy the game so we could play in lobbies together. He and I have had a ton of fun with it. Jenny is probably my new main. Very happy with her inclusion, and I'm looking forward to Rocko. Kinda wish they went with Jimmy Neutron instead of Hugh since he's the flagship character, but oh well. At least he got the game trending again. Even if it isn't very profitable, would be cool if Nick kept supporting the game to generate positive press. Still holding out for some Fairly OddParents representation.
@mariomaster96 If you haven't seen Avatar, you're doing yourself a great disservice. Drop everything, log on to Netflix or Paramount Plus and watch it right now.
yooo this is the video where i SD 3 times in a match, not my proudest moment
it was a super fun time playing and i kinda wanna pick up the game again now, but its just a shame that theres usually no-one online to play with
@Not_Soos I hate to say this, but I was recommended to watch avatar once, I mocked the show, thought it would suck, top silly, and had a anime like look to it….Biggest….Mistake….ever!
I love that show, avatar is just, Ah, good eating.
@Snatcher There's also The Legend of Korra if you want more Avatar
On topic: I'll probably pick this up later once all characters are released...definitely want to see how Rocko plays
The game is good, but the lack of voice overs for characters and items makes the game generic. Developers take a long time to release content.
Smash killer killed itself by thinking it would be fine to just add voice lines whenever they felt up to it.
@Bizzyb Watched that too, I loved it, avatar is still first to me but Korra did some pretty different things!
I still don't understand how the game lacks voice-overs. Besides that, I watched the video and it's definitely not for me.
It is one of those games that you are glad it was made but you don't really have any interest to play due to better options.
I think hardly anyone even plays Smash Bros anymore.
At least my friends online, when I log in to see what they're playing, Smash bros doesn't even appear on the list of games played (for many years...).
Smash Bros (seems) already abandoned by players..... I constantly play Mario Kart 8 online and I love looking at the profile of the players I've played with....there are hundreds a week....and Smash Bros must have appeared in the "recently played games" list at 2/500 players.
So imagine Nickelodeon? Dead.
@Not_Soos I am more surprised that @mariomaster96 doesn’t know who the ninja turtles are.
This vid is a swing and a miss.
It is great game, but the devs did not get the backup they needed. The game and modes there is are of high quality. And I am content that they will support the gas long as possible. This is quite sad...
Still waiting on them to add Asami.
Looks OK but the lack of character voices is a deal killer. Same goes for the same franchise Kart Racing series.
1) I love nickelodeon characters! Great to see them in a game together.
2) No voice acting?! Im just learning this, completely ruins a game.
Id always intended to eventually check this out but its for the characters and the voices are at least as important as getting the look and animation right. Oh well!
At the end of the day it’s a fun game but isn’t getting the development attention a game like this needs to thrive: Free to play. Regular content drip. More polish. Outfits.
It’d be a shame to let the game die ‘cause its bones are good. But it’s not looking good.
What makes me want to not download this game it makes some great, silly, energetic characters in the toons seem like soulless toys on screen rotating and jumping unconvincingly. Voices would actually help greatly.
This is one of those games I still intend to buy and play…. Someday. Probably. You know how it goes.
Update: I finally got it! For $9.99 at Target lol
There's no content in the game. No options, no modes, no stats. It's as bare bones as it gets. It's too bad because I really looked forward to it before I bought it and ended up collecting dust
@mariomaster96 I agree game definitely can be stale at times. Also have never heard of the Ninja Turtles? Lol been around way before SpongeBob.
@Fie0212 I have ofc heard of stuff like TMNT or Avatar but haven't watched a single episode of those series
