Been eagerly awaiting Cosmic Invasion going live for purchase all day so I'm glad to hear I'll be getting my money's worth out of it! XD
While I haven't played TMNT Shredder's Revenge (yet), I played the ever-living hell out of Scott Pilgrim back in the day and am absolutely overjoyed that the same team behind that gets to make a Marvel beat-em-up and a damn good one at that 💖
Happy 20th NL! I can't even begin to count the amount of times I've frequented the site for all the latest Nintendo news over the course of my life, even before I actually joined the NL ecosystem proper back round 2021-2022. Here's to another 20 years and beyond! (well, hopefully at least XD) 🥳
@Ogbert I feel like there's a pretty simple explanation as to why they're getting it out now rather than next year, though nobody's gonna like it: they're revealing Gen 10 for Pokemon Day and don't want anything drawing attention away from it XD
The DLC releasing so soon after the base game (not even two months out at that) feels fairly icky but between all the new Megas, characters and gameplay tweaks (Level 100 is no longer the pinnacle of power for a Pokemon XD), I'm certainly intrigued by what I'm seeing out of it so far, even if I'm slightly worried it'll basically just be 'Lumiose but greyscale' in terms of area exploration XD
Typically I tend to only select a 1-2 big new games to play as soon as they come out but lately I've gotten into the rhythm of playing smaller, more budget releases in any given year and its opened my eyes to a ton of stuff I probably wouldn't have given the time of day to otherwise like Pipistrello and Balatro. Ultimately I feel like this kind of question boils down to how frequently you are with online video game discussion (as that's how FOMO really starts setting in imo XD) but I'm happy with my current arrangement and don't see things changing anytime soon 👍
MEGA CHESNAUGHT MY BELOVED, MY BOY FINALLY GETS SOME LOVE 😭
These are some ace Mega designs I gotta say (even if they're phoning it in a bit with Raichu's specifically XD) and having an entire DLC area lined up for the future sounds incredibly exciting as well, can't wait to dig into it 🔥
also announcing paid-DLC before a game's release is always funny (in both funny 'haha' and funny 'wtf' ways) but I'm not all too surprised in this case since given how prevalent DLC in general has become with the series, it was moreso an inevitability than anything (plus I'll never say no to Hoopa getting some attention XD).
Adorable and horrifying in equal measure: this really is the perfect Ditto game 😛 Life-sims aren't my cup of tea whatsoever but this is a very sweet Pokemon-ified take on them that genuinely looks like it has a proper degree of effort put into it compared to most of the mobile-centric stuff we've gotten during the late-2010s/general-2020s, consider me intrigued 🤔
@Sylamp Given the generally meh showing they had for Mario's 35th, I'm fully expecting Mario's 40th to be similarly whatever until like 2-3 years afterwards when all the big Mario-related stuff starts coming out all at once XD
well that came earlier than I expected XD This is probably the darkest time we've had in terms of knowing what's on the horizon for Nintendo this past while so I really don't have any major hopes/predictions for this other than Prime 4 FINALLY getting a proper release date and for a new entry in a personal favourite series of mine to get announced (Ace Attorney 7 pls pls pls XD).
HAWLUCHA FINALLY GOT THEIR DUES OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD 😭 Hawlucha is a very big personal favourite of mine from Gen 6 (the first ever mon I got to Level 100 at that) so I've always wanted to see them get some love in terms of new forms and whatnot and this is literally everything I could've possibly asked for out of a Mega: it ratchets up every aspect of base Hawlucha to eleven to give it the ultimate pro wrestling vibe imaginable. I knew we were due for a 'cool' Mega sooner rather than later and I'm so glad it went to one of my favourite mons around 🤩
I had basically zero interest in Hollow Knight for the longest time but between the combination of Silksong finally getting a release date and the strong word-of-mouth regarding it among my general friend group, I finally decided to see what all the buzz (heh) was about and after about 10+ hours of slaying cute and terrifying little bugs, I can most certainly confirm.....that its just as good as everyone says it is XD
Definitely not perfect for me so far (definitely one of the easiest metroidvanias to get lost in for instance 😭) but everything from the combat to the visuals to the soundtrack just screams an ungodly level of polish and finesse unlike anything else I've played, especially from an indie studio as tiny as Team Cherry. Been having a great time so far and would love to have it wrapped up before Silksong comes out (though I can already guarantee I won't be playing Silksong itself for a looooooooooooooooooooong while yet XD).
it wouldn't be Devil May Cry if Vergil wasn't saved for the second iteration XD As a massive DMC fanatic, I rather enjoyed the first season of the show myself (especially from a visual/animation standpoint) though the general narrative/characterisation did make me a fair bit wary as to what kind of direction it'll end up going in and this teaser....unfortunately doesn't do much to alleviate those concerns as of now XD
Still though, the animation itself is just as much of a spectacle as ever and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being in regards to the actual story itself (though it is absolutely one of those cases where it'll either be amazing or terrible with no inbetween 😅).
WHAT A JOLLY FELLA 😭 Not too crazy about the continued Kanto pandering (though admittedly that is very much in-line with the original XY 😆) but Victreebel absolutely deserved a glow-up and what a glow-up it is XD
Its quite fitting that I just started RE2 for the first time today because those teaser images are straight out of a Resident Evil game XD
I'm surprised they didn't show this off at Worlds a few days ago but I'm certainly not gonna complain about a potential new Mega reveal for PLZ-A . Looks like it might be either a Ghost or Poison-type one judging by the images so I'm excited to see which lucky mon gets blessed with a second lease-on-life XD
Happy to see its still coming out this year but November is definitely a fair bit later than I was expecting. Air Riders definitely looks like a worthy successor to the original in basically every way though (never thought I'd see the day where Magolor/Susie get added to a Sakurai-made Kirby game XD) so I'm sure the wait will be well worth it 🔥
Never doubt Sakurai's ability to find a way to do yet another obsessively-detailed Direct for one of his games post-SSBU 😆
I'm glad they're finally going into detail about Air Riders (especially if its still scheduled for 2025 like they claim) but I'm gonna go into this with some mild skepticism as Sakurai is rather notorious for ignoring Kirby games he didn't have a direct hand in developing in his games which may cause Air Riders to suffer by extension but I'd be happy to be proven wrong nonetheless XD
Mentioned it under the announcement article itself but I'd love to see another game in the 'respected indie dev gets a crack at making a new entry in a long-dormant franchise' trend we've seen rise to prominence as of late. Between Streets of Rage 4, Ninja Gaiden Ragebound and Shinobi Art of Vengeance, the batting average for those types of games has been spot-on over the last long while and I'd love to see even more currently-sleeping IPs get the same love personally (plus its probably the most likely way we'd get a brand new Castlevania game so that influences me a fair smidge too XD)
Why they didn't decide to just combine this with the Partner Showcase when they literally just did exactly that the last Indie World baffles me but I'm certainly not complaining about getting another one of these myself. Don't really have any expectations for it myself but I'd love to see another 'indie dev gets to make a new game in a long-dormant franchise' like what Dotemu's been doing with stuff like Streets of Rage and Ninja Gaiden as of late 🙏
My best guess is that Nintendo (understandably) didn't want to give Prime 4 a release date until they knew for certain when GTA 6 would come out and now its just a matter of waiting it out until the next proper Direct for it to finally be shown off for real this time (I've waited 8 years for it already, what's another one for the pile amirite XD)
Kind of a strange duo here where the Western BA has a more sensible composition but the Japanese BA has a more visually appealing look to it 🤔
I think I'm ultimately gonna go with the Western one this time around as I think the darker style suits Hobbit a bit more but they're both equally....whatever XD
@HeadPirate 100% agree with you there; in my opinion the Switch 2 is for those who just want a better Nintendo Switch at the moment and I'd say it won't be until around 2027 (and potentially beyond) where we start to see the real heavy-hitters arrive for the system (I don't think it'll be PS3/PS5-levels of barren until then but still not great either XD)
WE ARE SO F***ING PAC BROS I still remember the legions of Pac-Man fans swarming Bamco surveys requesting Re-Pac 2, so glad to finally see it materialise after all this time 💛
Miffed that this was the big Capcom announcement of the presentation as I have zero interest in Monster Hunter but other than that it looks like another solid entry in the subseries and was a great opener for the show 👍
Might be in the minority here but for as neat as it would be to see current-gen games make their way over to Switch 2, I feel like if that was what the majority of the presentation consisted of then it would wind up being immensely dull personally since you know exactly what you're gonna get from whats shown off without any real mystery/intrigue.
I'm moreso hoping to see brand new games for third-party series which have held significance on Nintendo systems in the past (Ace Attorney anyone? XD) or ports for games which aren't readily available on other systems as of now (think collections of older titles and such). There isn't really any one specific game I'm praying for but I hope to be surprised nonetheless ^_^
Even though this is absolutely the funniest way they could've gone about doing a July Direct, I actually really enjoy Partner Showcases for the most part so I'll definitely be tuning in for this!
plus its the most likely chance we have for a new Ace Attorney/Castlevania game to be announced so I'll take what I can here🤞
Its been rumoured/datamined to hell and back over these past couple years but even still I never actually imagined they'd figure out a way to get Mario Paint of all games working on modern hardware XD
The fact they even went out of their way to have it be playable on a Switch 1 via a USB Mouse is absolutely unreal stuff, can't wait to play this down the road and hopefully this opens up the possibility for more SNES Mouse games down the road (the sheer collective shock if they decide to add Sound Fantasy would be INSANE XD) 🐀
I typically have at least one thing to complain about when it comes to licensed LEGO sets such as these but damn, I actually don't have any gripes with this whatsoever: great ad, great build and a shockingly decent pricepoint compared to most other licensed LEGO sets of the past couple years. Genuinely fantastic stuff all around 🌟
@VoidofLight Pokemon Champions might remedy this actually since its gonna be a full-on battle sim with assumedly most previous mechanics returning (we know Megas, Dynamax and Tera are there for instance) so the new Z-A Megas might end up having a permanent home in at least one game going forward 💖
At long last: Dragoniteite will be real XD Its a nice Mega for the mon though overall especially in how it retains the iconic cuteness of base Dragonite while adding some flourishes which harken back to its previous evolutions on top (the big wing ears are particularly delightful XD). Bit sad it was the only new Mega revealed today but they certainly hit the target with this one, no complaints here 🪽
This is made for an unfathomably niche group of people but I'm not gonna lie: I am a part of that audience XD
Very wary of the whole 'toilet humour' bit since I'm not sure why you're putting that in a game about Danger Mouse (unless the show was always like that and I'm misremembering XD) but I'm a sucker for beatemups either way and the screenshots capture the show's visual style really nicely, definitely one I'll keep an eye on for the future🔥
NEVER DOUBTED THE GREAT APE FOR A SECOND BABY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Its unfortunately going to be a very long time until I can get my hands on Bananza due to not having a Switch 2 but as a huge fan of Mario Odyssey, I can already tell that its gonna make for one hell of a console introduction 🔥
Great to see they're casting based off of actual talent rather than relying on prominent celebrities (cough cough Mario Movie cough cough) though picking two very youthful-looking actors definitely has me thinking the plot is gonna pull very heavily from Ocarina of Time and that there'll be two different actors with Link and Zelda for both the Young and Adult versions 🤔
alternatively it could just be like Wind Waker where the cast is overall younger than the norm XD
Given how this was inexplicably playable alongside the launch lineup at the Switch 2 event in April, Strikers being the first post-launch game was more of an open secret than anythng but its a decent pick nonetheless thanks to the added online play of GCN NSO. I've heard Charged is a far better game but getting to experience the origins of Mario Strikers sounds like it'll be a good time regardless 👍
Played Another Code Recollection earlier this year and loved my time with it (though primarily with the second game XD) so a brand new game from the devs behind it (who are basically Cing in all but name) is wonderful to see. The rotoscoped visual style is stunning and the distinction of being a 'textless' adventure game is immensely intriguing (makes me think it'll essentially be a playable silent movie in that case which sounds awesome) so this is an easy one for the Switch 2 wishlist for whenever I cave in and upgrade XD
@roboshort I understand the point you're trying to get across but this isn't really a fair comparison given how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is playable on the exact same system as MKW and also costs way less money 😭
I have to imagine this is the result of a sunk-cost fallacy almost because if I was on the dev team and the intermissions I spent years working on to ensure that all of them flow naturally from track-to-track were ignored by 99% of the playerbase, I feel like I would also be butthurt about it enough to the point where I'd want to incentivise people to play on those types of races specifically whether they want to or not XD
Even still though, I feel like there's such a simple fix for this: when determining the three courses available for online play, give players the option of picking from both the standard or intermission version of those courses at the same time. That alone lets you have the best of both worlds and I'm baffled as to why that isn't the way its structured to begin with 💀

Re: Arc System Works Announces New Interactive Adventure For Switch 2
Played Another Code Recollection earlier this year and loved my time with it (though primarily with the second game XD) so a brand new game from the devs behind it (who are basically Cing in all but name) is wonderful to see. The rotoscoped visual style is stunning and the distinction of being a 'textless' adventure game is immensely intriguing (makes me think it'll essentially be a playable silent movie in that case which sounds awesome) so this is an easy one for the Switch 2 wishlist for whenever I cave in and upgrade XD
Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update
@roboshort I understand the point you're trying to get across but this isn't really a fair comparison given how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is playable on the exact same system as MKW and also costs way less money 😭
Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update
