Re: Rumour: Switch Pro To Offer 'Surface-Style' Tabletop Flap, USB 3.0 And Ethernet Connectivity

Facelord

@Dirty0814 Yeah, Super Switch is perfect, I think. I do have to mention, though, that the chip supply problems that are hitting the XSX/PS5 are also partially hitting Nintendo's Switch supply, but significantly less, thankfully. They don't share the same 7nm node, but they would both require substrate and all the other physical materials that go into these chips.

Heck, we've got issues with getting computer chips for cars these days! Crazy shortages. I'm honestly stunned Nintendo has Switch consoles in stock almost all the time at my local store, they did a dang good job keeping stock during all these shenanigans. I give it an 80% there are Super Switch shortages for the first three months, and I give it a 60% chance that they resolve their shortages before Microsoft and Sony do.

Re: Former Metroid Prime Lead Designer Targeted With Abusive Messages

Lame response from some bozos, but honestly, wouldn't they just use some upscaled emulation just like with the Mario 3D All-Stars trio? Same thing, similar principle. I've already got the Prime Trilogy on my Wii U, and with Wii remote controls, so I'm not really interested in a Switch port of the trilogy. Maybe if they're 1080p 60FPS and it's $40, and on one cartridge, but that's not how Nintendo rolls these days.

Re: Video: Here's Zelda: Twilight Princess Running On An Xbox Series X

@rushiosan I don't remember the fairy sounds when waggling, but I actually dig the lack of free camera. Not having to fiddle with a stick to use the camera felt so much more intuitive, like with Ninja Gaiden.

I've been playing PlayStation Move games lately, like House of the Dead 4 and Resident Evil 5, and I really, really miss games feeling like games. Controllers as toys FTW! Bring it back! ;~;

Re: Video: Here's Zelda: Twilight Princess Running On An Xbox Series X

Facelord

@rushiosan I strongly prefer the Wii version over the Gamecube or Wii U versions. The Wii remote controls were some of my favorite implementations of motion controls ever. Aiming with the bow felt great, and I was much more engaged by swinging the remote to slash than pressing a button. I also liked TP's swordplay far better than Skyward Sword's.

I would've bought the Wii U version, but the lack of Wii remote support destroyed it for me, zero interest. At this point, my favorite way to play TP is through an emulator, 4K60FPS, with a Wii remote.

Re: Super Seducer 1 & 2 Refused By Nintendo Due To "Explicit Content"

Facelord

@Kr96 Regarding closed platforms, duh. Regarding quality, Steam and the Switch have allowed significantly worse games, from an objective perspective.

They can choose to reject games that they dislike, I can choose to talk smack about them over it. Rules are rules, they didn't break guidelines, their game is just disliked by most people, me included. From a principled perspective, they should've been allowed a platform.

Re: Super Seducer 1 & 2 Refused By Nintendo Due To "Explicit Content"

@EarthboundBenjy Hurr durr muh soggy knees! These games are cringe pick-up artist FMVs. They're cringe, but it's nothing to get triggered over. If it's not for you, it's not for you.

No need to go labeling things, I was shocked when I showed the trailers to some chick friends of mine without context and they wanted to play it. My kneejerk reaction was "noooo, that's cringe, these are bad! Play a real game!" but instead I just rolled with it.

It's not for me, but the suppression of stuff that meets ratings board standards angers me. Freedom of speech and expression is infinitely more important than your feefees.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo And The Industry Needs To Get Serious About Game Preservation

Facelord

I bought my first Xbox with the Series X because of the back-compat. Did not buy a PS5, have zero plans to until they take the Japanese market seriously again AND let me play my PS1/PS2 Classics bought on my PS3. Until then, I see the PS3 as a dead-end and buying the PS4 at launch as a mistake.

PC and Nintendo systems are always a guaranteed thing for me, but the PS3 is my favorite console ever because of all the PS1/PS2 games they support. Killing PSN for the PS3/Vita convinced me to buy a second Vita and second PS3 system just for... modification and backup purposes. Kinda sucks that I'd need an OG Xbox and a 360 for full library support on their end, but it's totally understandable and I strongly commend Microsoft's efforts. My XSX has sorta surpassed my Switch and PC since getting it, it's so cool playing 360 games I missed in 4K with rock-solid framerates.

Re: DOOM Eternal's Part Two DLC Will Be Unveiled Later This Week, Teaser Trailer Goes Live

Facelord

@Bizzyb Give it time, that's what I'm doing. I recently bought the Doom 64 Limited Run Games collector's edition, would be glad to see Doom Eternal get the same treatment - especially if it gets Super Switch enhancements.

I've beaten Doom Eternal like a dozen times, regularly play it on Nightmare difficulty at 4K120FPS and 1080p240FPS with my 6800 XT. Dropping to 720p or below at 30FPS is gonna be painful, but I did the same for Doom 2016 and had a blast. I love the Switch.

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

Facelord

"It's time to normalize-"
No. Bruh, you just posted cringe. Who the F doesn't quit games before finishing them? It's literally the norm. No one finished all their games, not unless they have a grand total of seven games in their library.

The only thing I wanna normalize is embracing tradition, rejecting modernity! Also Minish Cap is like six hours long, I once beat it in one sitting. Felt like 2-4 hours, I didn't skip a buncha content.

Re: Review: Haven - It Takes Two To Fully Enjoy This Space-Age Love Story

Facelord

@jcboyer515 I call them Soyny and Microshaft, those are also good. PC and Nintendo are where it's at this gen. I got an XSX right before Gal Gun Returns was refused a release on the platform, not my kinda game but I only got the system because I thought with GGR hitting the system it was a sign Microsoft were less prudish than Sony. Nope! Adult children, that's what they want us to all be.

Re: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Frame Rate And Resolution Detailed

Facelord

@sixrings We don't need anything, but I'd love a Super Switch. 1080p 60FPS in a Wii U port is fine, but games like Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal struggle on the Switch. More power is absolutely welcome, my Switch feels like a total shrimp next to my XSX and PC with a 5800X and 6800 XT in it.

There's no way they'd call it a "Switch Pro," by the way, that's just a PlayStation branding thing that people wrongly assume will apply to the Switch revision. 70% chance it's called the Super Switch, 30% chance it's something weird as heck like "Switchii".

Re: Hey Anime Lovers, Funimation Is Seemingly Teasing Its App For Switch

Facelord

Funimation is one of the reasons I pirate a lot of the anime I watch, they're terribad. Bad localizations, adding political propaganda where it didn't originally exist, not paying many of their translators, etc.

I generally buy anime on Blu-ray if it's not published by Funimation or Crunchyroll, but if they had a hand in bringing it over, they don't get my money. Wish the Switch allowed local media files like the PSP or Vita. Heck, the 3DS had a music player.

Re: Review: DOOM Eternal - This 'Impossible' Port Is Nothing Short Of A Miracle

Facelord

@RootsGenoa I only ever set R3 as my grenade button on Switch. A for melee/use, left bumper for jumping. I change the heck outta the controls, and thankfully Doom Eternal lets you remap the controls however you like.

On PC I've modified all the weapon keybinds so they're easily accessible in a fraction of a second, it helped me beat the game on Nightmare and shred through all the Master Levels and everything. On XB1 I'm using an Elite 2 controller, so I have jumping, dashing, flame belch and chainsaw mapped to the paddles, but I may change out chainsaw for grenade swap. I highly, highly recommend trying out the Super Gore Nest Master Level in Classic Mode, it's SUCH a thrill! Possibly the most hardcore Doom experience I've yet had.

I would've snagged a Switch copy if they released it on cartridge, but for now I'm either gonna wait for a big sale or for a limited physical release. I really dig having 2016 on the go, but I ended up regretting not having a DRM-free cartridge. Bought it for like $30 on a sale. ;{

Re: The First Review For Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Is Now In

Facelord

@twztid13 Ryzen 5900X and a 6800 XT should do the trick, already got a nice B550 mobo, a 1TB 5GB/s PCIE 4.0 SSD and 32GB of 4000MHz DDR4. I expect to run many next-gen titles at 1440p 120FPS, but upscaling these days is pretty spectacular. My Ryzen 2700 paired with a Vega 64 and a 1080 Ti already do a pretty good job at 1440p 120FPS on my TV, but I need HDMI 2.1 and the extra VRAM and performance would allow me to dunk on the PS5/XSX.

5900X is actually overkill for 120FPS, I'm getting it for smoother 240FPS on my monitor; occasionally my 2700 is more of a bottleneck for 240FPS than my 1080 Ti. 6800 XT outperforms an RTX 3080 in most games, even outperforms the 3090 in a handful.

Re: The First Review For Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Is Now In

Facelord

@Sensible You say that as a joke, but I'm gonna gonna get an XSX if 120FPS is common on it, and I'm dropping over $1,400 on a GPU, CPU, mobo and faster RAM/SSD this year for a 4K 120FPS gaming PC to go along with my new 4K 120FPS TV. The PC's gonna be twice as powerful as the new consoles, should be able to do upscaled 4K 120FPS in most games next gen.

My Switch will still get a bunch of my playtime, though. Switch/PC master race!

Demanding 120FPS or even 60FPS in all Switch games is unreasonable, but wanting a stable 30FPS is perfectly fine. I thought the demo ran alright, but the prior Hyrule Warriors on Switch ran better and looked a lot cleaner. Hope that Super Switch releases soon and has nice upscaling.

Re: Poll: Do You Play Your Switch More In Docked Or Handheld Mode?

Facelord

I would play more in handheld mode, but my left Joy-Con stick drifts and I'm too autistic to bug Nintendo Support about it. I use the Pro Controller and an SN30 Pro Plus in docked mode about 70% of the time, undocked I play games that don't use the left stick or I use a wireless controller. Not ideal, but eh.
