Is ‘secret yuri romance option’ now a bonus? Why not just write it into the actual script as just as valid a choice as the guys instead of treating it like a ‘tee hee you can kiss girls’ secret?

Yeah, it's a bit odd that it's an "option" to have a same-sex romance, rather than just part of the game. Also makes it a bit either/or.

But it is an Otome game which is basically romance bishonen even though most men over the age of 15 don’t look like that.

I’m more bothered that the yuri option looks like she has a receding hairline. Some folks don’t know how to draw short hair on a woman.

I prefer man + man relationship especially with shirtless six pack dudes. 😛

Hello, writer here and I absolutely agree! Back in 2012 when I pitched the game, I was a little nervous to do a gxg route because of

1) bi/gayphobia backlash toward the team or dev
2) my family finding out I was bi (I was dating a girl and in the closet at the time)

Still I wrote the route for myself as a little treat, not expecting it to be included but it did get in. It's sadly a little shorter compared to the other routes. I'm still kicking myself for that and I wish I was braver. We didn't get backlash, but my family did find out, and the result was terrible and the damage is probably irreversible. But their phobia is their problem, not mine.

So yea the criticism is very valid and I really wish I wrote it as a full fledged route back then. After the release I felt more comfortable so I wrote more GxG routes like Cute Demon Crashers and the all GxG game Dorakone.

Now there's WAY more inclusive and LGBTQ content in games and I'm so happy for it! And I'm open about my identity now so I'm much more comfortable with myself.

No worries! A lot of devs in the late 00/early 10's were a little hesitant including queer content for various reasons (scared, still questioning themselves, backlash, too personal, etc) so some went with secret routes or LGBT minor characters etc. I'm really glad there's more open rep and content, it's been wonderful to see!

(I no longer write or work on games but now I get to enjoy all the amazing diverse games being released.)

Yuri, grooooss. I like romance stuff, but hard pass on any yuri game ever.
