It seems the release date for Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope may have been leaked ahead of schedule.
According to a now-removed listing on the Spanish Ubisoft Store, the Switch exclusive (including a Gold Edition) will be released later this year on 20th October. Multiple Twitter users managed to grab a screenshot before it was removed:
This follows Nintendo's announcement of a Partner Showcase, which will run for around 25 minutes and focus on third-party titles coming to the Switch.
Ubisoft shared a brief update about Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope in an earnings report not long ago, mentioning how the game was still on track for a 2022 release. The sequel announcement was originally leaked last June and then officially confirmed shortly after.
New screenshots of Mario + Rabbids are also circulating on social media - teasing what appears to be a new playable character (warning: spoilers). Are you looking forward to the second Mario + Rabbids adventure? Comment below.

Oh, Ubisoft...
And speaking of “gold editions”, I’m still bummed that the “physical” gold edition of the first game merely included a download code for the DLC when it likely wouldn’t have cost them any more to actually produce a cartridge with the updates/DLC already on it given its modest size.
This is probably real, I’m guessing it’ll show up in the Partner Direct tomorrow.
It'll be nice if that is the release date but honestly I'm more interested in other games right now.
Awesome. I loved Kingdom Battle despite my skepticism prior to its release. Really excited for this and I’m hoping it shows up in the Direct tomorrow!
This is my most anticipated game of the year!!! Tomorrow's direct will be a delight!!!
Looks good.
I have downloaded the screenshots.
Not been so excited about a Ubisoft game in ages. Bring it on!
Ok I guess. August would've been a nice month to release it though.
The original Mario + Rabbids was a welcome surprise. I enjoyed it a lot. I'll pick the second one up once it goes on sale. No point in buying Ubisoft games at full price when they go on sale so quickly.
Probably a good time for a release since there are no other games to contend with it.
Can't wait for the sequel.
The original is the best Mario game on Switch for me.
It did something different unlike Nintendo's efforts.
Never thought I'd say that about Ubisoft or Nintendo.
I can't believe how good the first game is. Currently playing as I'm like 4 years behind on my back catalog, and it really is a great game. I was almost shocked haha
This seems exactly like something that will be announced in tomorrow's 'partner showcase'.
Definitely direct time… some leaky pipes need repair. Need a plumber for the job, but he’s no where to be seen.
I still need to play the DK DLC...
Glad for anyone excited for this one. I really tried to enjoy the first one and I got pretty deep in it too, but it’s one of only two games I’ve traded off on the Switch. Just didn’t have any fun with it, but I love the fact that Nintendo let Ubisoft make something so off the wall, you know?
Still seems wild to me that this series exists at all.
That it's as excellent as it is boggles the mind even more.
I like the main mario games & mario kart but never been interested in these ones
I may skip this one, first game wasn't bad, but the glitches, game breaking bugs, and crashes were irritating.
Not a big fan of rumours and leakers but when a legit website puts it up a day before a Direct, well that graphic for the website exists for a reason.
Will get this one in the spring when it's half-price.
I never would've imagined that a Mario and Rabbids strategy game would be one of my most anticipated Nintendo games. The first one was a nice surprise and a gem that shocked me in how smartly developed the mechanics were, so very much looking forward to Sparks of Hope.
The first entry was probably one of my personal Top Four games for the Switch's inaugural year, behind only Zelda BotW, Octopath Traveler, and Super Mario Odyssey. It was scornfully dismissed when first announced at that E3, but by the end of the gameplay demo, those dismissals had turned to cheers from those in the audience. It caught everyone by surprise, myself included.
Oh yes, I'm looking forward to more X-COM-inspired Mario goodness. Bring it ON.
I really hope the game comes out sooner than that so it will go on sale during Black Friday guaranteed
Mann the graphics tho! Amazing looking game. Thanks ubisoft!
@Silly_G
2.3GB + 1.5GB DLC = 3.8GB would have fitted on the same 4GB card, from an outsider standpoint.
I guess it was easier/cheaper to only order Gold edition boxes with the same, already approved, card with standard build.
3-4 leaks already before the direct, any point watching now lol
@Joeynator3000 really? The first game ran smooth as silk for me…
bought the first game on release date, one of my first switch game... but it has been discounted so many time since that i'll wait a bit...
loved reading about how the italian maker presented his stuff to nintendo.. he's a great guy, a real lover of his subject matter.. so for him i might not wait until it really drops down
I am so looking forward to this! I might wait for a decent Sale as I paid full price last time and it dropped in a matter of months.
Hungry for more. First is a fantastic. Dlc was great. This will be . . .legendary.
Still one of the most surprisingly fun games I've ever played. Never usually into strategy games and find the Rabbids highly annoying but the first one was such a gem. Really looking forward to playing this in the fall!
Seems pretty realistic for a release date. Splatoon 3 takes up September, Pokémon S/V releases in November, and I'm wagering Bayonetta 3 will release in December.
@Bulborb : A real pity considering that Nintendo at least updates their cartridges to include the latest patches in reprints (Smash Ultimate being a likely exception as the game + patches now exceeds 16GB).
From my experience, you can't compare a Nintendo title to a 3rd party title. What N does, doesn't automatically mean that another developer/publisher can also do that. Besides that for N the costs are considerably lower to do this reprint with patches. Especially with 28M units sold and still selling against 2M for M+R
