After recently getting a gaming-capable PC after several years without, I was browsing Steam and fell down a rabbit hole of porn/adult games that are actual, you know, games and not just a cheap excuse to look at boobs and butts. This does not appear to be such a game. Nothing wrong with looking at boobs and butts of course, but there are better ways.
@RupeeClock There were a lot of these half-assed PC ports back in the days before console developers regularly brought their own games to home computers and I was weirdly fascinated by them back in the day. I remember owning a number of them, including the notorious Mega Man PC game from Hi-Tech Expressions and a completely unplayable version of the original Street Fighter, but I never knew there was a port of Castlevania. It looks suitably terrible.
I like the idea of an arcade, but instead of just being a delivery system for old games we already have access to it should have stuff like a crane game filled with stuffie versions of island residents and other mini games where you can earn tickets to exchange for unique prizes.
I've plugged at least a hundred hours of my life into every Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind. I have not even come close to completing the main quest in any of them. I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
The best thing about the comment section for articles like this is how all the people who need to be on my ignore list just come right out and tell on themselves.
@TheUltimateFaker I feel the same way whenever I see grown-@$$ adults complaining about the shows on Cartoon Network. Like, calm down guys. Sometimes you're not that target audience and that's okay, let the kids have their fun. Sheesh.
Finally got around to playing Super Mario 64 on 3D All Stars. It's my first ever playthrough and I'm quite enjoying it despite some frustration with the occasionally janky 3D platforming and camera of a 25 year old game. I put it aside though the moment my copy of 3D World arrived though. I'm happy to be playing through it a second time.
@Foisted_Bread While you have a point, there's a difference between doing something that's been done as in a very similar idea and doing that exact thing. I agree the law should be less restrictive, but the law as it stands is pretty clear and she violated it.
It's likely their games haven't been selling well outside Japan. The fact Snack World sucked couldn't have helped, but I was looking forward to Yo Kai Watch 4. Ah well.
EA gives us an overpriced remaster of a twelve year old game and when no one buys it will no doubt use that to justify not being serious about putting games on Switch. Ah well, Nintendo has never needed EA and I for one don't need them either. I can get EA games on PS4 or Xbox if I really want to, but can hardly think of any EA games lately that I actually want. Ah well.
@ReaperExTenebris I can't speak to female statues, but there are paintings in the game with breasts on display. Art is art and many of the greatest works of art display nudity. If you can view it in a museum there's no reason not to be able to view it literally anywhere else.
@Chibi_Manny That same guy later clarified that he was joking. As are pretty much all of the people making these tweets. It's art. No one is actually offended by this.
@muscpt I totally agree and I certainly don't consider stuff like this to be spoilers. While I try to avoid spoiling thingd for others if I can help it, I find spoiler culture in general obnoxious and there's really no pleasing that crowd. Mention something they consider a spoiler in the headline and they'll gripe about it, perhaps rightfully so, but then bury the spoiler and they'll find a reason to gripe about that too. Very tiresome.
Articles like this are just proof of how big a deal Animal Crossing has suddenly become. I doubt this guy even believes a single word he's written, he just knows, like that other boring hipster troll guy from earlier in the week, that writing an article like this and slapping a provocative headline on it is an easy way to get some rage clicks right now.
@RupeeClock It also helps that Raymond is a new villager with no available Amiibo card.
I'm not sure why Nintendo didn't have a new run of Amiibo cards ready to go for this game's release. Missed opportunity to make some money on their part. This whole market wouldn't exist if they had and will collapse whenever they get around to it.
There's no denying Miyamoto's huge influence on Nintendo as a company and video games in general, but I do honestly believe Nintendo will be fine without him. I doubt his influence on the company in recent years has even been anywhere as big as it was in the 80s and 90s.
@g_ruz With special events covered through the end of June I imagine the next update will be coming in July. Being a summer update I'm guessing it'll likely bring the summer fireworks shows and diving as well as special events through the summer and one or two other things, like hopefully the coffee shop, though they may be saving the coffee shop for a fall update. July update might bring the rumored nightclub?
I mean, these are nice and all, but I'm fine with my island basic mess with crap just plunked down wherever. It's not that I'm not creative or whatever, I'm just lazy. 😝
@Cosats Yeah, the Switch is basically what a lot of people thought they were getting when Nintendo first revealed the Wii U gamepad. Hardly anyone, including Nintendo themselves, made good use of the second screen. It was only useful in that the response to it likely inspired Nintendo to release an actual hybrid console.
@GameOtaku Yeah, only four games were ever released that were exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS, which makes perfect sense because who would want to limit sales of your game to a model that only a tiny fraction of the user base owns?
@Quix I didn't mention that stuff because it's good stuff, no complaints there. I don't even care about the folders and themes personally, I just find it interesting they give us something no one asked for while we still don't have features people have been asking for since the system launched.
Three years after launch we still have no themes or folders, but oh hey, you can bookmark stories in the newsfeed now. Surely somebody, somewhere, wanted that. Surely.
@Crockin I'm convinced Zipper is secretly Don Resetti. I was thinking Mr. Resetti at first, but no way does he have the patience or the temperament to do this Bunny Day mascot crap without completely losing his s***.
I always wonder what the point of these is when all three covers are just the same image, but framed differently. Anyway, only the Japanese cover has the full image, so that gets my vote.
@Pip_Pipston Yeah. Everybody seems to like the Sakura items way better than the terrible Bunny Day ones, so it's really unfortunate that Bunny Day wound up getting in the way of Cherry Blossom Season for so many people.
@Juga Yeah, seriously. There were a number of missteps that made Bunny Day such a chore, but the items you have to craft being such gaudy, worthless crap is probably the biggest. If it was actually cool stuff worth having, that would salve the disappointment somewhat.
@Wazeddie22 Oh also, if you love this one I think you would've really loved New Leaf. Mind you, it seems to me this game will eventually outstrip New Leaf in terms of content, Nintendo is just determined to dripfeed it to us.
@Wazeddie22 I managed to get the Bronze Trophy for the fishing tourney, but C.J. never said anything about it so I assumed I hadn't made it until it turned up in the mail today. The points supposedly carry over to the next tourney, so you should pick up a trophy next time.
@Burning_Spear Yeah, maybe five days of this and half as many Bunny Day items to craft would have been good, especially since the Bunny Day items are ugly and everyone seems to hate them. Hopefully Nintendo has people paying attention to players are reacting to all this stuff, because if this is the template for all other major holiday celebrations... ugh.
Jumped into the game. Everyone's wearing those fugly Bunny Day outfits and I had to collect and trade a bunch of eggs to make the Zipper Bunny Wobbly Toy all so I could get my final prize, a Bunny Day Wand... recipe. That was sure worth two weeks of buildup. See ya, Zipper. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.
I think the only real problem with the Bunny Day event is that it went on for way too long, but clearly when Nintendo were planning all this out they weren't expecting everyone to have so much free time on their hands.
@dkxcalibur There's been a note about it on the island's message board since last week and when there's new messages posted a bird will be sitting on the board as indication. Of course, the game does nothing to explain any of this. The game leaves a ton of stuff for you to either figure out on your own or try to look up online.
Sorry you missed out on the Fishing Tourney, but there'll be another in a couple months.
@link3710 Yeah, I suppose a lot depends on how much American and European publishers care about releasing their games simultaneously in Japan. For a lot of these companies the Japanese market is a distant third to the US and Europe, so it might not be all that important to them to wait, but I guess we'll see.
@UmbreonsPapa Yeah, item durability is the absolute worst aspect of any game that includes it. It wouldn't be so bad if the gold tools were unbreakable, but even THOSE break after a while. They take so long to unlock and then other than to score the Nook Mile achievements there's no reason to ever craft them again. What even is the point of gold tools if they break? They're just a waste of one of the game's rarest resources. Hopefully Nintendo will deal with this eventually, either introduce a new unbreakable class of tools or make the gold tools unbreakable. As it is there's no point to the tools breaking to begin with, it's just a petty annoyance.
It seems crazy to me that Nintendo would go to the trouble of making the Amiibo cards compatible with this game and yet not have new sets of the cards ready for sale at launch. I guess it wouldn't Nintendo if they didn't pull some sort of bonehead move, other than great first-party games doing things that make no sense is what they're best known for.
@brendathecat It doesn't work, it's a total myth. Some people claim it works occasionally, but this is just random chance giving them a good island after they've tried it. I can't seem to find it again, but there's a guide out there that shows the exact percentages of getting any one particular island any time you use a ticket and it was like a 20% chance of getting anything other than an ordinary island with your native fruit and a less than 10% chance of actually getting something good, like Tarantula Island or Money Rock Island.
There are no tricks or secrets to get around this, all we can do is hope that Nintendo eventually adjusts the percentages to improve our chances and make doing the Nook Ticket Islands more fun.
I purchased Gunbrick because Bomb Chicken was, well, the bomb and Boot Hill Bounties because I think it looks neat. That's all for me this week and I probably won't even get to either of those games for a while yet because I'm still too obsessed with New Horizons.
@Harmonie Okay, I haven't heard about that but I have no reason not to believe you.
Anyway yeah, the dialogue that's been popping up, which seems to have been added after the game's release, is a hopeful sign but we shouldn't get our hopes up we'll see any of this too soon because, as you said, we have no way of knowing how the current crisis might be affecting Nintendo's plans. Luckily I'm the patient sort. I can wait and in the meantime we still have Earth Day to look forward to later this month.
@Benji80 So you edit out the animal abuse. As someone else pointed out, a version of the film that does that exists and is actually the director's preferred version. We can't change what happened when the film was made, but taking out the offending footage and genuinely acknowledging it was wrong to do things that way seems sufficient to me. The director seems genuinely remorseful for having killed animals in his film.
