After playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge non-stop for the last month, you would think that we would have exhausted our excitement by now, but today's physical release has us itching to buy the game again.
Shredder's Revenge is now available in two physical formats: standard and special edition. The former of these is basically what you expect from a release called 'standard', although those buying it will receive a 24-page game guide and pipin' hot pizza pie key ring alongside the physical copy of the game.
While you will have to fork out a bit more cash to do so, any self-confessed TMNT fan will want to snap up the special edition while they can. Containing everything that the standard copy offers, the special edition adds (deep breath) a randomly selected ninja turtle mask, CD of the game's shredding soundtrack, original key rings and pins, a metal manhole cover coffee coaster and a piece of limited edition numbered artwork.
As if that wasn't enough, those getting this huge collection will receive their copy of the game in a new sleeve displaying some original custom artwork. Check out the image below to see these extras in action.
The standard edition is now on retail for £34.99 on Switch, while the special costs £59.99.
As huge fans of physical media, we cannot wait to get our hands on a copy of this game and start playing it all over again with a randomly selected ninja headband on this time (please be Donny, please be Donny...)
If you want to find out more about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, why not check out our glowing review, in which we stated that the game is 'the best Turtles scrolling beat-em-up ever.'
Are you going to try and get your hands on a physical release later on? Let us know which turtle you are playing as this time down below!

It's pretty cool, might get the PS4 version. I have the Switch CE pre-ordered from Limited Run Games.
Does this work like most Limited Run games - where I wait a year? Or does pre-ordering mean you get it sooner this time - seeing how it is a bigger title.
@Sonos
It's in-stock and shipping today.
My brother sent me a photo of his EU copies of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and TMNT Shredder's Revenge side by side.
@Sonos it's been released in stores. Not just limited run. You can literally buy it today from amazon.
Well hell's bells, I preordered mine from amazon, back in June. It hasn't updated yet, but it says shipping out sept 22. Dafuq!!
Got my regular edition in the post yesterday. Having a blast with the game.
@PhhhCough A
Amazon US or somewhere else like UK, EU?
This article is for the EU PEGI release.
What? My preorder says release days 9/27.
Cowabunga!
(On hold waiting for my library’s copy to come in)
Already got it and it is so damn good!
HOLY COW THATS AWESOME!!! Now I don’t need to get it digitally!
Is the special edition getting a us release or is only the standard edition getting a us release?
@RupeeClock *phew, thanks for the clarification.
Just got back from work, just opened it. Going to have a blast on it later
@Greatluigi don't you mean holy cowabunga? Go for it and hopefully should have mine on either Mon or Tues next week!
What with this and the cowabunga collection being released on the 30th of August, Christmas has come early this year! Happy turtle gaming everyone
Holding out for the seemingly inevitable Shredder's Revenge / Cowabunga Collection Double Pack...
Good luck with the headband. My copy should be here any day. Seriously 90s do not get old.
I was too impatient to wait for this one lol
Which edition is that because all that stuff was not in the limited run editions on their site
Got my copy of the standard edition yesterday from ShopTo.
Although I hadn't seen this Special Edition advertised before today. I think the previous articles about this physical release were either the Radical Edition for £119.99(!) or the Classic Edition for £69.99.
I ordered mine through Limited Run, but this seems to be available plainly through Amazon. Anyone know what the LRG cancellation process is like?
Cuz LRG might take like a year, right? Normally I don't mind the wait, but ..... y'know.
Where's the link to these??
Got it yesterday, loving it, even though it's not Turtles in Time, it's brought so many memories!
@Sonos Be careful if you buy from Limited Run Games. Chances are you won't be able to collect gold coins for the game unlike a non-limited edition.
Interesting that it's out physically in some locations but it's looking like the US version (Limited Run distribution) won't be out till about late September. Considering their size and connections within the industry, it's quite sad that they take so long to actually get their games done and out to customers. Currently, their exclusive games take 6-9 months (sometimes longer) from end of pre-order to actually get out to customers. I was more understanding when they were smaller early on in their existence but they have grown substantially and now work with some of the biggest companies (UbiSoft, Sony, Konami, Bethesda/Microsoft) yet still have the timeline and approach of a much smaller publisher. I really wish they would get those issues fixed.
@Gamer83 You already said you triple dipped on this game. Would this than be your fourth copy of TMNT Shredders Revenge? Or did you triple dip digitally and are now buying physical copies?
"As if that wasn't enough, those getting this huge collection will receive their copy of the game in a new sleeve displaying some original custom artwork. Check out the image below to see these extras in action."
(suggestion of a different version of this part of this article: As if that wasn't enough, those getting this huge collection will receive their copies of the game in new sleeves displaying original custom artwork. Check out the image below to see these extras in action.)
Where can you buy the special edition? Wasn't even aware of this one.
This release is through Signature Edition Games.

I've got this one ordered as well as the Radical Edition from LRG.

I've ordered through these guys before, they're very good and the quality is excellent.
That's a pretty cool edition there. I have the big boi coming from Limited Run Games some time in the next two years, but you got some cool stuff there I wouldn't mind having in my set, like that metal coaster or the pins.
I feel like it should have had all four masks, though, but that's just me. I'd be a bit blue if I didn't get my favorite turtle's mask... which, come to think of it... right now, it's Donnie, but in the 80s and 90s, it was Mikey, so... which one would I want here... hmm...
@Jacoby
Bought it digitally for all 3 consoles and pre-ordered a physical verson for Switch when LRG put them up for sale.
@Gamer83 Awesome! Sorry for keeping track, I just like your enthusiasm for this game. It is a great game.
Already ordered mine from LRG.
@Freek Thanks for the heads up!
Digital is great and all but TMNT is proof that you should always buy physical. We have no idea when these games will be delisted from online stores due to licencing issues.
@Pirate1 Hey as I’m a professional librarian can you tell me which library you go to that stocks Switch games? I’m just curious. My home town library in Fairbanks, AK used to have Wii and PS3 games to borrow.
@Jacoby
I also have the physical copy of The Cowabunga Collection ordered for Switch, PS5 and Series X. A bit insane but I can't help myself.
Been enjoying the digital version since launch. Will definitely double-dip as I need this for the physical collection. The COWABUNGA COLLECTION has been pre-ordered since April physically from Best Buy so my 10 year-old self is all set!
@Gamer83 Each to their own and all that, but why the shell do you need four versions of the same game?!?
@Sonos
Not sure how it works if you are not in the UK... but I got mine yesterday and its amazing..... I also have got stuff from limited run and they take tooo long, 9 months for Scot pilgrim.... signature games always had said it will release on the 29th July....
I want to find this for the U.S. so that my nephew's can get a copy of the special edition. Does anyone know where I can find that? I couldn't seem to find nothing but the Standard Edition on Amazon
@Nitwit13 a number of the libraries in the Chicago suburbs. I belong to one, but there’s a website you can search a bunch of them, place holds and have the game/book/etc sent to your home. So there’s a couple hundred switch games available, albeit some with long waits.
@Tipehtfomottob
Have friends who game on different platforms and I wanted a physical version as well.
@Gamer83 Fair enough, thanks for the response.
Too radical a game to wait for LRG to ship, so I double-dipped and ordered a collectors edition from Signature Edition/Merge Games in jolly ‘ol England.
It made it over the Atlantic and arrived today. A very nice little set, AND I got the Donnie mask!
Just the one I wanted 😄
I’ll try the game out with the kiddos tomorrow. 💜🐢💜
@gameboy1975
Looks like you can still order from Signature Edition Games here:

Don't know if I'd say it's the game of the year. But I will say it's MY game of the year. I wasn't prepared for how good this turned out to be. It was the spiritual successor I never knew I wanted.
I'm pretty sure sequels won't happen, but I would gladly hop on them if they were ever made. And there's so much material to work with. They could use either the comics, the 2003 series, or maybe even the live action movies as source material.
@Teksetter
Much appreciated man, thanks.
