Re: Talking Point: As Switch Hardware Sales Slow, How Long Can Nintendo Delay 'Switch 2'?

Dog

@Leo2Kirby Nintendo is never going to make a power console again. Haven't you learned from the GameCube? As the Switch is still selling well they've proven that they don't need speed or power as you claim. It's up to third-party developers with what to do for the Switch, and seeing how amazing a game like Monster Hunter Rise looks, it's certainly possible to create high-quality AAA games on Nintendo's platform.

I do agree Nintendo should let their generation last at least 7 years. I expect they will do that with the Switch.

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2021 Is 'It Takes Two' By Hazelight Studios

@Bratwurst35 @AceMcGyver65 It seems that you two (plus The Game Awards) and I just have fundamentally different philosophies on what makes a good "family game". I believe what makes a great family game is the whenever its gameplay can encourage and unite families into playing and enjoying a video game together, whether if its competitive be it for friendly competition or cooperation. For a great example, look no further than Super Mario 3D World, with its phenomenal level design and controls that allows such family synchronization and togetherness towards a goal, giving a special and unique feeling for each individual that allows the whole family to become closer, a feeling that typical AAA games do not usually reach. Such a philosophy is where I believe Nintendo excels so well at with many of their games, and I feel such a philosophy was better demonstrated in other "Best Family Game" winners and nominees.

As cringe as that one Wii U commercial was, it also demonstrated what I believe how family games should work.

You both are free to praise It Takes Two with its approach to co-op gameplay and for not holding back with its storytelling, as well as it tackles at themes like divorce and the psychological consequences it can have for both parents and children. I don't deny the impact it causes on you both. I get that. But I can't call that a family game. When it comes to actually being what I believe a family game should be, It Takes Two simply does not qualify, as it does not go even close to achieving that special "togetherness" feeling that the likes of Super Mario 3D World or Mario Party Superstars does, at least not for me.

@OnlyItsMeReid The odd thing about It Takes Two is that it works very well as a couple game, but fails tremendously as a family game; as @AceMcGyver65 points out, the whole thing is about divorce and the themes aren't always uplifting.

Nothing short of an absolute blunder by the TGA community.

Re: The Top Ten Best-Selling Games For Wii U, 3DS, Wii And DS (As Of September 2021)

@johnvboy @Rpg-lover @Savino You do realize Nintendo does not report sales of games that aren't published by them, right?

@Dr_Lugae The DS and Wii saw a ton of games and many of them became million sellers.

Here's a link showing that generally most games sold on Nintendo consoles are third-party:

Re: EA Is Bringing Another Legacy Edition Of FIFA To Nintendo Switch

@diablo2 No, the blame goes entirely to EA. We've had competent ports of AAA games on the Switch such as NBA2K, so EA has no excuse for their lack of effort and lack of respect for Switch owners.

Putting more power on the Switch would've made it more expensive. It's not greedy to keep the Switch's power the way it is.

Re: EA Is Bringing Another Legacy Edition Of FIFA To Nintendo Switch

@UltimateOtaku91 The wiki is wrong. Since the Switch follows the 3DS and Wii U, that means it is a 9th gen platform. Power has nothing to do with it unless you want to think the Wii is in the same generation as the GameCube.

As @anoyonmus points out, 2K is able to put out a competent version of NBA2K on the Switch every year despite the weaker power. So why doesn't EA do the same? They're clearly showing a lack of effort when it comes to FIFA on Switch.

And contrary to what you claim, the Xbox Series S is not cheaper than the Switch. Both are retailed at $299.

@Mr-Fuggles777 You missed this line:
"As Nintendo shares the sales of their video games every quarter while most other publishers do not share sales figures per console, this list consists mostly of Nintendo-published titles."

It's dishonest to say that third-party games aren't selling on Switch when they actually are. FIFA 18 for example reportedly sold over a million during the early days of the console.

Can't believe people are defending EA over their lack of respect for Switch owners.

@RainbowGazelle @Benjinat I really don't get this mentality. You get a far bigger resolution and a revamped Mii system and yet still have the nerve to call it "lazy"? Sheesh. Some people just can't be pleased...

@Mando44646 @Low_ink You guys get a first-party game at less than $60 and still complain. And gamers wonder why people consider them so entitled...
