Re: Feature: Every Nintendo Console Ranked From Worst To Best

@wazlon @NintendoFan4Lyf The mini-DVD problem could easily be fixed by splitting the game into multiple discs. Third-parties didn't have a problem with that on the PS1 before, and they didn't have a problem with that with the Xbox 360 after.

The Xbox used DVD's, but still got demolished by the PS2 in sales.

I think Nintendo Life is correct with why the GameCube failed.

Re: Soapbox: EA’s Approach To FIFA On Switch Is Typically Short-Sighted

"On paper, EA’s decision to field the B team makes some sense, as did the ‘Legacy’ versions that got released on Wii. In its launch week just 1% of FIFA 19’s physical sales in the UK were for the Switch version (this didn’t account for digital sales, but we don’t imagine them being much better). On the face of it, this indicates that the audience simply doesn’t exist on Switch to warrant putting effort into anything other than a ‘legacy’ (read: old) release."

The U.K. is never a good sample of sale performances on Nintendo consoles, considering that it's Nintendo's weakest region. In contrast, the head of Nintendo's French division was pleased with FIFA's sales. And in Japan FIFA 18 on Switch is believed to have outsold the PS4 version!

EA has no one to blame but themselves. They are not doing their best.

Re: Worry Not, The Sonic Movie Trailer Has Been Fixed Now

@Heavyarms55 Detective Pikachu showed that a live-action video game movie can be done well. That, and making it animation doesn't mean it's going to be good. Look at Pokémon, it's had 21 movies ranging from mediocre to dreadful, yet it's live adaptation blows them all away.

@Silly_G You said this earlier: "I dread this being enormously successful for that will only indicate that the worst is yet to come. Different strokes, I guess. I still enjoy watching some of the traditionally animated Pokémon films from Japan though."

It appears that you're complaining about the aesthetics about the movie and how it is a "b******dization" of the Pokémon IP. If you have this much of a problem with the aesthetics, then the problem is on you, not the movie. The idea that Hollywood does not meet "social, cultural, artistic/literary, and/or historical merit", and "are often disappointingly unambitious in their storytelling" isn't remotely true, there are plenty of fantastic movies that meet one or more of those qualities.

You sure sound jealous due to the fact that Detective Pikachu is positioned to become a financial hit and succeed critically whereas the anime movies have not.

It should be noticed that Detective Pikachu is currently the highest rated video game based film in Rotten Tomatoes, with a score of 69% as of this writing, beating Rampage's 52%. It also breaks the record of The Power of Us, which is at 60%, if we include movies with limited theatrical releases.

AFAIK, only Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie and Resident Evil: Damnation rank higher, but they weren't released in theaters in the west.
