The latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu has revealed that the upcoming Fire Emblem Warriors will feature two brand-new protagonists, as well as the famous Marth.
Twins Shion and Lian will take centre stage in the game, which will no doubt contain many other fan favourite characters in addition to the already-confirmed Chrom and the aforementioned Marth.
We'll no doubt see a lot more of this game at this year's E3. It launches later this year.

Fire emblem warriors looks so boring. With hyrule warriors every character had their own unique movesets, with fire emblem warriors 3 out of 4 characters revealed so far use a sword. There's only so much variation you can have with that.
The twins look pretty bad, like they're simultaneously too vanilla and not vanilla enough. I think it's the ornaments, their design seems a bit too heavy on the details.
Marth is Mystery of the Emblem Marth, which is good.
They could've gone simply with Alphonse and Sharena as protagonists... They're generic but charismatic enough too.
they look generic but the story could still be cool
As one of those stinking latecomers to Fire Emblem, I can't help but think the characters from Awakening and Fates are far more interesting than the the older characters.
@Mijzelffan There's a bazillion classes in Fire Emblem that don't use a sword. They can have plenty of variety if they try just a little.
I just want to see Sacred Stones characters, those are the ones that hit home to me.
@MrGawain I've joined in at Awakening myself, was a game I've completed like 3-4 times As for the characters, definitely more interesting than these two. Brother and Sister? Overly so, it looks like they've been cloned from the same embryo. They look generic and boring, and even use the exact same weapons... (If the image is anything to go by)
Expected original characters judst hope Lynn gets announced soon.
As for Marth I think everyone expected him to be announced sooner then later.
Sold. I love me some Dynasty Warriors.
@Mijzelffan in dynasty warriors there are over 100 characters, about 70% of them uses a sword, they all play completely differently. I trust omega force with huge character rosters, if you don't I recommend you to search for a dynasty warriors 8 or samurai warriors 4 or warriors orichi 3 video compilation showing all the characters movesets in these games.
@Curlynob +1 cant wait to abuse the x button on my controller
I've never been a fan of warriors games. They are just so samey. Love me some fire emblem, but will pass on this
@LinkSword clearly the lords have their favour at the moment though, most of which use swords.
@darkswabber "they all play completely differently" that's just not true, a lot of these characters have the same basic set-up you couldn't tell apart if the moves were hacked onto a blank character.
Just like Dragon Quest Heroes II, with male and female cousins.
I'm almost loving FE Echoes more than Awakening. Definitely wanna see Alm and Celica.
I'm really excited cause i love fe and warriors. Só it doesn't get much better than this. The New characters May be good. Lanna was good enough. And please if koei can make more than 75 play different they can make 20 or 30 do too.
I really like the art style. Reminds me of the pre-rendered cutscenes in Awakening and Fates, which were great.
@MrGawain I thought that too, and then I actually played a couple of the older games. You're dead wrong.

What we all feared.
IS just cares about the lowest common denominator at this point. Thought they'd learn from TMS.
Eh, between MHXX, XC2, FESwitch, and this all potentially coming out within less than a year there seemed to be too many Switch games to hold my interest. Glad I can dump one off the list.
EDIT: Also, this wonderful hypocrisy:
"The reason for this is because if you put a bunch of protagonists together then it’ll be nothing but sword-wielding characters."
And then they add two generic-looking sword wielding OCs.
Would it kill you guys to be honest?
It was confirmed that the game will only have characters from Shadow Dragon with as much (and less) dialogue as Denning from FE7 and the anime tropes referred to as "characters" from FE13/14. Not even Gaiden/Echoes is included.
I was actually going to buy this despite hating the extremely repetitive gameplay of the Warriors series if it AT LEAST had Ike, but no. The worst part about this is easily the reasoning. "To avoid having too many sword users." Hyrule Warriors series allowed you to choose different weapons, yes? Why not allow, let's say Sigurd, to choose a between lance or a sword? It doesn't even have to be every main lord - just include non-sword users such as Hector, Ephraim and Micaiah, as well as some of the more popular sword users like Ike, Roy and Lyn - all of which use a sword differently. Put Sigurd on his horse to represent Genealogy, too. Those are just a few examples of a gameplay diverse cast, and they're just protagonists. They could include a magic horseback user such as Cecilia from FE6 or Reinhardt from FE5, or armoured characters such as the Black Knight.
But no, screw you, you can play as our oversexualized pandering tropes such as Tharja and Camilla, and characters you don't even try to care about such as Virion.
Rant over.
I rather have Hyrule Warriors ported over to Switch in an ultimate HD edition like Mario Kart 8, that includes all DLC!
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if the game bombed at this point. At least it would send the message to not bite the hand that feeds you. Probably wouldn't get more series spinoffs, but since they seem to not want me as a consumer I don't care.
Hey, who thought it was a good idea to put Patroklos and Pyrrah in my Fire Emblem?
Wow they look so generic. I'm really excited for this game, however, I hope they don't put too many similar characters in the game. That could be bad.
@TheWretchedCrow The guy who decided that TMS had reasonable series representation, apparently.
I'm guessing they're our Lana and Cia in this game.
I'm sure there'll be a rich amount of characters for this game with different weapons. Don't forget some characters use axes and bows in the games. And heck, if HW had so many characters including the DLC ones, this should as well. It'll be nice to be more familiar with characters from games either never brought outside of Japan or ones I just havent played due to their rarity.
@CrazedCavalier Honestly with how mad they went with HW's DLC, I'm certain they'll save the older characters for the DLC.
Those worried there won't be enough characters or attack variations in Fire Emblem Warriors obviously never played Warriors Orochi Hyper 3 on the Wii U. And who cares if the new main characters look generic? No one's going to use them anyway.
Dynasty Nintendo Warrior ??
@Angelic_Lapras_King I don't want to pay $60 for the chance down the road to pay more for a few characters I find appealing.
@AlienX Same here, we could at the very least get Ephraim along with Hector as they're not the usual trend of sword lords.
I mean heck Ephraim has shown himself to be just as popular as Chrom given he won against him in the voting gauntlet for Heroes.
@AbsoluteZer0Nova They started developing the game long before that, before even the Famitsu Warriors crossover poll where FE took #1: http://www.siliconera.com/2017/05/30/fire-emblem-warriors-will-mostly-feature-heroes-shadow-dragon-awakening-fates/
It's too late for them to correct any mistakes.
They should have lovable rogue Dorcas in this game, with his GBA facial expression intact. His wife Natalie can be a DLC character
@WiiHawk Might want to reassess that. Story mode.
@MrGawain
I'm afraid I disagree. The cast from FE7 and FE9, for me, had a lot more personality than the Corrin-obssesed characters of Fates. Awakening could be, there are some memorable characters.
@Luna_110 To me, Fates' cast is hit-or-miss; Awakening's is entirely miss. The main stories of both games suck so you have to go to the supports.
@Anguspuss @Curlynob Sign me up! I'm so ready for this!!! I've been asking for a femusou since foreveeer, can't wait!!
I can NOT wait for this game to launch!
Why did they think only Awakening, Fates, and Shadow Dragon characters were the only ones that could be in this game? I mean, the FE series is WAAAY more diverse than Zelda in terms of characters. This greatly disappoints me.
Well, at least I liked the characters from all three of those games. I know it's cool to hate those games, but I found so many of the characters enjoyable (and no, I did not start with Awakening; my first FE game was Fire Emblem on the GBA).
@MegaVel91 In story mode on Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper, you could battle as any character you've already unlocked. Story events still unfolded regardless. Fire Emblem Warriors may not work that way, but I'm hoping it does.
@Senpai_Bruh
Yeah, Sacred Stones was my first, but I still enjoyed the characters of Awakening and Fates. It also helped that support conversations were easier to do (and not limited) in those games, so you could see the characters interacting more.
I'm hoping to see Tiki get confirmed, but I have a feeling she's going to end up being DLC.
@TheWretchedCrow I just laughed cried and became green around the gills all at the same time by your comment. Oh SCV...why Bamco...why?
I don't know why people are so surprised that this game may only feature characters from three FE titles at launch. In the trailer, all those swords in those orbs are from shadow dragon, awakening, and fates. They already told us at the very beginning.
I wonder why nobody since the announcement wished to see the best "love interest" of Genealogy of War, Aira/Ira. (loves the type of character she started).
@Arnold-Kage If Lynn is "casted" for the game, I can say goodbye to my hopes.
@Sakuraichu Where did you read about the game makers stating they would only use Fire Emblem I and Kozaki-made characters ?
@SnowFox It could make the game more diverse. (+1 if they use her "young" age)
@MrGawain But, but... why? Just because you don't know them enough? (joking)
This gave me a urge to watch the Story Mode from Echoes, I hope I can find a good play trough on YouTube.
This is one of my most wanted games. Can't believe it's coming out this year. I hope Alm and Celica are on the roster as I think I'm actually enjoying Echoes more the Fates.
@WiiHawk Considering how the story mode in Hyrule Warriors worked, you had to complete the stage with the default character before you could do it with the others.
Hyrule warriors was fun, but I don't know if I buy this (when I have a Switch). And if I do, I probably skip the dlc. I like Fire emblem, but I am not a gigantic fan.
@Rei
I understand and hope you get what you wish for. But for me Lynn the poster girl of the franchise simce she was the first lord I've ever commanded in the first FE game I owned
@MegaVel91 And Fire Emblem Warriors will more likely work like Hyrule Warriors, I suppose. But with the vast number of characters from which they can pull, I'm hoping we get more of a Warriors Orochi style system.
@MarcelRguez This is not Mystery of The Emblem Marth (That's the one that appears the most). This is Shadow Dragon Marth, the one with the shield on his cape and is a prince. Mystery of the Emblem Marth has an orb on his cape and is a king.
@HaxorViper Oh, you're absolutely right. I was picturing SD Marth with Brawl Marth's long hair, for some reason.
