I play Fortnite mainly on the Switch. I enjoy the single player battle royale. I don’t build. When you have minimal defenses, I feel it’s more fun that way. Once you win, you just want to keep playing.

I must say, though, they need to sort out their server issues. But I understand somewhat given the stay-at-home orders due to COVID-19. I switch to another game when connection problems persist.

I’m confident that with his imagination, talent, and humility, he will be able to surpass Stardew Valley’s unexpected (and very much deserved) success. It could be with these 2 games. Or other games in the future. But he will.

Nintendo needs to sort out their shiitake mushrooms. This is my first Animal Crossing game. And I’m sure a hell of a lot of other people’s. GET IT RIGHT.

Initial impression: I feel okay about the service. Although I do recognize that the price can be steep for some.

At $16 a year (for Premium), it would have been great to have a direct connection between HOME and Sun/Moon/UltraSun/UltraMoon.

Gotta keep my Bank alive.

And every penny Concerned Ape earns is well-deserved.

I have never played this game series, but people being so excited for it makes me feel hyped, too. Can't wait to play.

@jamesthemagi I doubt it as well. Companies will hold onto the way they make their money. Another reason why we should always be vigilant regarding their predatory practices.

I’ve always wanted to play Wonderful 101. Hope it does come to the Switch eventually.

@Supadav03 I don’t think it removes the social aspect at all. What if I don’t want to hunt for Pokémon that only have 1% chance of appearing? What if I want a Pokémon caught in a specific Pokeball, but I don’t have any more of those Pokeballs? What if I want a shiny Pokémon but don’t do any shining hunting or don’t have the time to breed for a shiny?

And then there’s online battling. Now online raids.

The social aspect will persist, I reckon.

Having 2 versions feels... outdated. To me, anyway.

How about they sell just 1 version of the game in the future? That’d be a real, positive step forward.

I don't think this teaser is at all compelling. It didn't make me feel like watching the movie. Hell, it didn't even make me look forward to seeing the full trailer.

I have to say that this 2-minute trailer made me more excited than sitting through yet another typical Hollywood-fare trailers with mega million budgets.

@Tharsman Sorry for the confusion. Yes, $30 for both story and new areas with ability to catch Pokemon. (Assuming DLCs in the future will remain this price.) I know they're a company and wish to make as much money, but I just don't feel right about limiting other players who don't purchase the DLC from getting the additional Pokemon only through trade.

@Tharsman That's true. I just wish they would get out of the idea that they must release a new game every year. (I know, capitalism.) This way, they could take more time making a new mainline game. I haven't put a lot of thought into it yet, but I think I'll be okay with 2 or 3 rounds of DLCs as long as all Pokemon make it in eventually. At the same time, maybe it's just me. I'm not sure if most Pokefans are willing to fork up $30 or however much just for more Pokemon. Hmm.

Asking for people's opinions:

Do you think there will be paid DLC Rounds 2 and 3 so that all of the Pokemon can be in Sword and Shield eventually?

@Friendly I hope we can all migrate to Home, either free of charge if we just renewed Bank or make up the difference if we already have Bank for some time. I don’t plan on keeping both.

But if we transfer all our Pokémon that are not in SwSh to Home, they may be stuck there for a while—until they can be moved to the new games again.

This I’m looking forward to. But damn if I’m setting myself up for disappointment.

I know you can get the Pokémon through trading. I watched the video. But to get the Pokémon YOURSELF, that’s behind a paywall.

So the reason they prevented the rest of the Pokémon from being available on the main game was for DLC. Not because of “balancing” and other BS reasons. Even then they’re only going to add about 200 Pokémon.

Everything is unfinished. Including the Direct.

A Pokemon Classics Collection... but only on mobile devices!

And here I am still crossing my fingers for POKÉMON SNAP 2.

Pokémon Home better be worth it.

@BlackenedHalo I'm excited for that one... even though I heard it didn't review very well.

I'm still holding my breath for ports of Final Fantasy I through VI.

The absolute highlight for me, without question, is "Fire Emblem: Three Houses." I had my doubts going in because I felt I didn't have much experience with strategy RPGs. I ended up loving the game immensely, but what I love even more is the fact that it inspired me to try out more strategy games in the future.

I look forward to playing Witcher 3 on the Switch after I finish DQXI (40 hours in--I looked up to see if I was halfway and it's not even close!). Frankly, I don't care about the inferior graphics. My lifestyle fits the portable mode. If companies want to make even more money, they'd strive to port their games on the Switch. No more begging from our end. Either they want money or they don't.

@Alztru You bring up a great point. I think they avoid asking the more difficult questions in order to maintain access to those who work for a particular company in the future.

@jowe_gw The Wild Area is the best thing about SwSh. (It does get repetitive after a while, though.) But you’re right, they do need to fix the online situation. For example, it’s so frustrating when you want to join a raid but that particular raid is no longer available. And then after you get that “no longer available” notice, the list doesn’t even refresh automatically. It’s a mess.
