I'm nearing the end of act 2 and honestly, the game needs some balancing. It does't feels like I beat the boss because I learned the mechanics most of times, it feels like I lucked out and got a good pattern.
I won't complain about the damage because honestly bosses doing 2HP damage is fine, but them jumping from animation to animation with little to no breathing room is annoying, increasing the transition from animation to animation by half second would help a lot. A little telegraphy would also help too but that's a problem they had since the first game so I doubt they'll fix on this one.
The more I play the more I find the game to be mean spirited towards the player for some reason.
This isn't like the first game that was hard but also rewarding, this one feels like its punishing you for the sake of punishing you, like you aren't allowed to enjoy the game or something.
Cool, they bought a fight with literally the entire industry. Let's analyze this, suppose you have an assist fighter like Marvel Tokkon and 2XKO, Nintendo can sue those games now. Games like TFT and other auto chess? Nintendo can sue those now. Your RPG has a Summon System? Nintendo can sue you now. Do your game have some semi-automated AI companions that you can swap out, like FFXII? Yeah, Nintendo can sue you now.
Pretty sure that's illegal in a lot of countries, not the MIG cart but the acting of hard locking the hardware.
I know that because I worked with machines that had GPS with blocking system, once you installed them you were required to contact the company that made it so they would register and activate your machine. Problem being, suppose you need to move the machine a little to right where it was originally, not too much, just a meter or two to make space for something else, they would brick the machine until you contacted them again.
Thank god they lifted that weird requirement, it only took a couple of lawsuits.
Ew, a handheld PC that runs Windows. Can't wait to see people yanking that out for SteamOS and see their games run better and their batter last longer.
"Double the budget of BD3" - Literally not the consumer problem. "Tariffs for retail packaging" - Again, not our problem, and this also means digital oughta be cheaper since you don't have to account for tariffs.
Unsure how this will play once its out, but it does open the possibility of Nintendo opening a GamePass/PS Plus catalogue, but instead of paying a subscription you rent the game just like you used to do in the long distant past.
In all honesty, in the recent years the stock market has suffered an influx of morons with money, they do not care about the company they are investing nor do they know how the company operates, they just want money and will sell their shares at the first opportunity.
I mean, isn't this the standard business practice? Plus they've got a lot of experiences like that, Palworld isn't the first game to "fight" against Pokemon and it won't be the last. Digimon, Monster Rancher, Medabots, Yokai Watch, SMT, plus a lot of other games that, lets be honest, had way much more of a backing both inside and outside Japan than Palworld has. Why burn future collabs with an established franchise over getting some quick money with some flavor of the month game that has yet to prove it wasn't some one hit wonder?
Could, but honestly the basic formula is fine, it is what sells the game. The main problem is that GF don't know how to polish their games, nor do they accept any kind of assistance from other studios.
Pokemon Clone seems right on the spot. Unlike other games in the monster collecting genre like Digimon, Monster Rancher, Medabots, Beyblade, Yokai Watch and so on this one is much similar to Pokemon than it is different.
"We hear you, we'll do nothing about it and you'll thank us in the end" People are already justifying this lame excuse, if you don't plan to revisit the franchise just say it loud and clear.
Well, given that Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario + Rabbids, Cadence of Hyrule and even Super Mario RPG got greenlit I guess the problem lies on Jupiter's pitch.
Just a reminder that Tamagotchi was still quite a popular toy in Japan when the Pokedex released. The Pokedex looked like a deluxe Tamagotchi, having access to all pokemon and all animations from the games, just give it the feeding element, the minigame element and maybe a battle element and you a have a functional competitor to the main games.
Now you can see why Nintendo was worried about this.
Now here's the funny thing: Neither Nintendo nor CMA are at fault here, it lies completely on MS and their stupid 10 year contract that strictly states that CoD will run with "content and feature parity" on present and future platforms.
So yeah, if PS5/XSX can run at 4k60Hz they NEED to make a Switch port that can run the same, which, as we all know, is not possible in any feasible way.
I still don't get it, its not like the HR will play a game just to verify if your name is on the credits, and most gamers will simply skip the credits.
I could understand if they didn't give out any credits and people complained, but this time they are complaining about even generic credits?
I mean, its not like the guy was a consultant or an active member of Remaster development, the assets he made are still property of Retro and his credits are still on the original release of Prime, crediting everybody again seems redudant.
I haven't seen the video, and now I probably won't, but if the video had anything related to the project, be it concept images or even concept gameplay screens, that wasn't made public by Nintendo then Nintendo has legal grounds to issue a copyright strike since this is clearly a break of NDA.
Even Sakurai has to ask permission to show things on his own channel.
I know people like to point fingers at Nintendo but sometimes Nintendo is right, like it or not.
"TPCi is NOT giving Game Freak the necessary support" I think that quote couldn't be more wrong even if it wanted to.
Sure, TPCi sets the schedule, but this ain't GameFreak's first launch on Switch, and when both SwSh and PLA run better than this you know Gamefreak just did the laziest job possible and called it a day.
@wanghosom I will simply point at Monolith Soft, they had to develop their own games while also helping other people, such as the teams developing BoTW 2 and Splatoon 3, develop tech.
In the last couple of years they've got not only XC3 on their plate but other games too, and XC3 still managed to be one of the best looking games on Switch.
So yeah, looking at this anyone would say that GF is lazy, they don't even use anti-aliasing.
Oh boy, can't wait for Switch overheating news. Because that's all this "solution" will do, consume resources to do useless checks if it is implemented poorly, which it will be.
Nintendo's approach is actually the correct one, if your pitch meeting starts with "It's like X meets Y" your project is doomed from start because the very base is just a jury rigged copy.
Not that you can't copy what other games did, far from that, but if don't have a solid identity of what your game should be and what you want players to experience then your game will be just another clone in the wall.
I mean, no one calls Hollow Knight a metroid clone or Shovel Knight a Ducktales clone, despite those games being heavily inspired by said games.
I just love how people are going "Nintendo is after mods and homebrews" instead of, y'know, using their head a little bit, read the article and realize this is just a counter measure for online cheating.
Never called it a "Smash-Killer", however, I did call it a cheap knockoff, because lets be honest its all these kind of game are: a cheap knockoff with not even half the mechanics nor the charisma of the original.
I've seen this before many times in this industry, the knockoffs fade, the original remains.
I get his point and his take on Blockchain tech, it is the most correct one tbh. However, said system could also be made without blockchain tech at all, just look at Steam's marketplace for once, there you can buy and sell items from games and also cards.
I think combat is fine, it has worked fine for 20+ years and it will work for 50+ more, however I think some tweaks are necessary. Incorporating more multi-turn moves like, Fly, Dig, Solarbeam and Hyper Beam are a must, maybe reintroduce Z moves or even the Strong/Agile style from PL:A.
Or it could be Nintendo R&D department testing super scaling tech. I mean, Switch Sports seems to be using AMD Fidelity FX kit, it would not be surprising to see them also testing Nvidia's kit, especially DLSS and NIS.
Well, if compared to other Nintendo games I often found pokemon lacking two things when the main series jumped to 3D: visual direction and polish.
Legends Arceus has good visual direction, but by god it does lack polish, so much. It is one of the main reason people say GameFreak is lazy, their games often lack that final polish, as if they know the product will sell and shouldn't invest too much time in it.
@Frailbay30 It is less about the piracy itself and more about the fact Team Xecutor made profit selling devices that allowed Switch to be hacked, which is a violation of copyright. If it wasn't for this minor detail the case wouldn't even stand in court.

Actually, Creatures Inc. handles the TCG and all merch related products.
If anything Creatures Inc makes TPC more money than Gamefreak ever will.
Re: UK Charts: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Sales Almost 50/50 Across Switch And Switch 2
Makes sense.
Is it a good game? Yes.
Is it good enough for a $70 price tag? No, not by a long shot.
