Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback

Problem is, the problem he wanted to solve might happen, keyword there being might, and on top of that it might happen 1000 years from now.
That's how stupid it is, there was no need to summon Eternatus at all besides the fact plot needs to happen.

Fixing the plot is simple, just change 1000 to 10 years, show us how much areas unaffected by Galar particles are underdeveloped, like Spikemuth. Makes us understand why he wants to the stupid thing and why the urgency.

As an RPG, Pokemon has barely any plot and in most games it only kicks in during the finale, usually between the 8th gym and E4. Basically only Gen 3, 4, 5 and 7 had storytelling, basic as it was but it was storytelling nonetheless.

And the plot wasn't so bad either, Gen 3 had us face two teams that wanted to reshape the earth because there wasn't enough space for pokemon and people, Gen 4 had us face a team that wanted to
reshape the universe because life was unfair and the universe would be better if there were no emotions, Gen 5 had us face a team that wanted monopoly of Pokemon and Gen 7 had the whole thing with Aether Foundation and Ultra Beasts.

Gen 8 plot is abysmal in comparison to that, "I will summon Eternatus to solve an energy crisis that might affect us 1000 years in the future".

Half of those complaints wouldn't even be there if GameFreak wasn't so stubborn in the first place.
I get it that Pokemon target audience is kids, but that doesn't mean the game has to be dumbed down. Give us gym leaders with better AI and teams, give us good post game content, a plot that doesn't kick in during the last stretch, also a decent plot, and so on.

Hell, gym leaders don't even use held items that aren't berries, why should I use it?

Re: Soapbox: Can We Please Retire The Phrase 'Lazy Devs' Already?

CielloArc

Given the fact that almost 20 years ago people used to work in conditions we would consider nowdays to be "toxic" and still managed to deliver a game with almost no game breaking bugs I think "lazy devs" is the perfect term to use.

They aren't incopetent nor unexperienced, they are just hoping to ship a flawed product and fix it late with patches and stuff, if that isn't "lazy" then I don't know what is.

Now, in GameFreak's case being lazy just mean not shipping a product that blows up fans expectation. They just recycle assets from 10 years ago and make a new game. Recycling assets is fine but it has been almost 10 years since the franchise entered the 3D realm and Pokemons still don't have decent idle animation, pokemons are just a blank slate in battle. Compare that to Mario, Kirby, Zelda and other games Nintendo put out, you'll see Pokemon is dead last in terms of polishing and innovation despite being released almost yearly.

Re: Talking Point: The Metroid Dread Credits Debate Is Sadly Common

CielloArc

I don't even think this should be a debate at all, most people in this industry sign a contract stating any work they do is property of the company, also they have to work a certain ammount of time or meet a certain quota of contribution to be credited in the game.
It's not like MercurySteam stole their work and used it without permission, also even if they don't appear in game credits they can still put their work in a portfolio, as long said work doesn't violate any NDA.
