Re: Analogue Pocket Will Be Available To Order Again Next Week, But There's A Catch

Chris77

@Damo yea I get that. I guess it's coupled with knowing what the volumes are. If they are saying the first 100k in batch 1, second 100k after and so on then fair enough. That would show what the component squeeze really is.

The risk however is that they are producing 200 at a time. I was out of mobile reception first time round for about 3 minutes and that was enough to miss the first round, so minor bitterness on my part. I'm happy to wait, especially if it's another quality product, I'd rather get it in 2022 than 2023 of course.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Price, Games And Features

Chris77

I misunderstood the pro-rata part. I was expecting to pay a pro-rata cut of the upgrade fee and then roll in to the annual fee once it's all up for renewal, I guess it's more money in the bank for Nintendo this way. I'm also OK with the charge, I just wasn't expecting to pay over £50 today (my sub is up in early Jan). When you break it down £60 by 8 people for the year is OK. The whole system doesn't feel that modern, and this upgrade part doesn't seem handled that well, but if they use the funds to upgrade stuff then it's not so bad.

Re: Review: FIFA 22 - Another Match Abandoned

Chris77

Legally obliged to put fifa out on the switch, its a shame as they must make a few quid but it wouldn't hurt to make some improvements. I have 18, which includes the WC, and bought 20 when it was digital for £11, and that will do. Remember when they actually changed stuff up? Fifa 97, with indoor tournaments, road to WC 98 etc. Even the PS/Xbone are cash grabs on ultimate team.

Wouldn't mind a hockey game though, no sign of that hitting the switch.

Re: Yes, Switch OLED Works With Your Old Dock

Chris77

It's nice but not essential, dock and joy con compatibility is a good move. As much as I love my New 3DS XL splitting the hardware and making some games exclusive to the higher end doesn't make much business sense. The 3DS showed that. This makes more business sense. Also don't see how they will fit 4K games on the cartridges at this point. It gives the Switch family a boost before Christmas and helps drive towards 100m units sold.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 3rd)

Chris77

@MajorasLapdog I was going to try and 100% this but a couple of the vaults were ridiculous so I abandoned that as life is short and the games backlog long. Great game overall though, I think I took around 50 hours to finish the story. Might go back to it at some point when that DLC is on sale.

Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Has Been Delayed (Again)

Chris77

I am good with waiting a bit longer for a better game. It's one they don't want to ruin for the sake of a few months. I suspect this will be put out for the Christmas schedule now.

If TT could make a new Lego city game that would be good as well. Still the best Lego game.

Re: Monster Hunter Rise Ships Four Million Units In Opening Weekend

Chris77

@NEStalgia That's good to know. Funny enough I've tried demos on the 3DS and WiiU and each time came away thinking it just wasn't for me. At least with the Rise demo I got the hang of some pieces. I doubt I'll complete it but the world looks cool and the bits i could get the hang of played well.

Re: "Nintendo Isn't That Smart": Pachter Says Nintendo Should Scrap Switch And 'Only Have Switch Lite'

Chris77

This chap is clearly saying stuff, as usual, to grab headlines. The figures speak for themselves. I think the Switch sells about double the amount of the lite and just overtook the NES lifetime sales.

The strangest thing though is to call Nintendo not that smart. They've been going over 100 years, have billions in the bank and even failed products generate profit (ok not the virtual boy). I wonder what he thinks about all those companies and products which lose money hand over fist before failing under crippling debt. Maybe he really means they are unpredictable and can actually read the market much better than he can over a long term period.

Re: NPD Analyst Thinks Limited-Time 3D Mario Games Will Be Sold Individually On Switch

Chris77

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't release these individually. It would negatively impact the 40th anniversary remaster which will include Galaxy 2. The bulk of revenue on this is probably with older Nintendo fans who've bought this now. If they need a revenue boost in a year or two then it can return for a final run, like the NES minis did.

Back in the 3DS days if you were an ambassador you got the GBA games which everyone thought would be released commercially in time, but never were. Nintendo might be looking at the looking term commercial opportunity rather than saturating things now.
