Monster Hunter Rise hasn't yet had quite the same bombardment of quirky crossover quests and gear as its Nintendo-platform predecessors, but Capcom has nonetheless kept the free updates and additional content flowing. The next free addition is a bit of a beauty, too.
As you can see in the trailer above, an upcoming Event Quest reward will be an "Ammy Costume", a layered armour set for your Palamute. This is, of course, Sun Goddess Amaterasu from the brilliant Okami, a title Nintendo gamers may know from its Wii and more recently Switch iterations. The hugely stylish adventure RPG is a bit of a favourite here in NL Towers, so combining that with Monster Hunter Rise is rather exciting.
That'll arrive on 30th July, with more 'Capcom Collabs' to come in August and broader Autumn / Fall. There are also weekly event quests to look forward to, of course.
Let us know if you're planning to earn this Ammy Costume when it arrives later this week!

I’ve been waiting for this since the palamutes were revelead. This is amazing!
Yessss! If anything’s gonna convince me to buy Rise, it’s this!
Wow. Was holding off on MH:Rise, but this is very tempting.
Nice! Still need to start this bad boy up, it's been sitting on the shelf a few weeks
Bring it to Stories!
I am loving Monster Hunter Rise so this will add to the enjoyment. Capcom is my number one favourite game company right now.
Yessssss. And then smash bros, right Capcom?
Now this is a cool skin. Might rock out with this.
Does anyone know how long this event will last?
Very nice addition !
I love monster hunter rise!!!
I love okami!!!
Both of them beloved games.
Very beautiful layered armor.
Good timing for me, as I only recently finished Okami for the first time. Gonna have to go back to Rise and unlock this costume.
Capcom is on fire!
@DomGC that's exactly the same for me. I just can't get in to it and feel I'm missing out somewhere. I've fallen away from MH:Rise but this looks cool so will be coming back for this.
Too many games, too little time!
Finally. This was too perfect not to include.
How does this event quest work? If i missed the week where the event occurred, I can’t longer take the prize later?
***** yes!
Count me in. Okami is possibly the most beautiful game ever made
@DomGC Let's say I bought the game in November. Will I still be able to take advantage of this event? I was going to buy the game these days, but things went wrong. If it's a permanent event, fine.
Considering I designed my Palamute to look like Amaterasu when I first picked up the game, I think I'll be giving her this Ammy costume and never taking it off!
@DomGC I don't remember any "fake credit rolls" before Gale Shrine...?
Awesome news! We need more cool doggo layered armor on this game. Wolf Link please be in the pipeline too
Love this, I think Amaterasu will finally replace the golden retriever armor I've been rolling with this whole time.
@AndrewSalin I think they stay in the game, you just speak to the mail cat in the centre of the village and download event quests.
This is seriously making me consider taking the plunge on Rise when I was only really considering getting Stories once I'm done beating Skyward Sword... Are these quests timed or anything? I don't want to miss out!
So a skin is enough to get people to buy or try a game? Man that's nuts. I mean Rise is awesome and I totally recommend it but wow.
New content? Meh...New skin?? Aw yeah, gimme that game.
My first thought was that you hunted the wolf from oakami. In my defense I haven’t played the game in awhile
@ATaco ookami has so much impact for us in early years.i think it's normal that people want to buy this game because AMATERASU BABYYYY
@templag I mean yeah I love Ookami but I want a sequel more than just a skin for my doggo lol
@ATaco we have to admit that mhrise already at the end of its cycle. Gotta enjoy what we have i guess
I don't play Rise, but it's neat to see this! =)
@DomGC I've heard similar things but the world map isn't complete in both instances and there are still various story threads that are nowhere near completion. Not to mention Ammy's goal is to get her 13 powers back which doesn't happen until well after both those bosses. Basically, I really don't know what to say to the people who get to either and think they're done.
Also the game is approximately the same length as Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword (25-30 hours) so it's a pretty standard length compared to some Switch games. I say give it one more chance
Does anyone use Palamutes?
While not a Rise specific comment, I wish Capcom would have given us the ability to scan in a Palamute amiibo in to Monster Hunter Stories 2 to receive a Palamute sent to our stables. I hate that they are locked to endgame content. Why would I try to get all the Palamutes if I can't actually use them on my team during the actual game? I don't usually like to play RPGs after the end credits roll. The games are so long as it is and I've usually moved on to another game after I'm done so these cool Palamute are just sitting in my stable at level 1 with no use. Instead it would have been nice if Capcom had included the ability to scan a Palamute amiibo for those of us who bought one to just get a standard Palamute rather than just useless stickers these Rise amiibo give in Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Come on yall, they would be stupid not to do this.
Wow that’s awesome.
Adding Ikami into Rise is a great touch. I love both games, so it is a good combo.
Ooh, now that is nice!
Makes me al.ost want to get Rise just for this. However Monster Hunter isn't for me. I played a ton of MH World, my 1st MH, but it just takes far too long.to get into for my tastes.
I no longer play MH, but this is beautiful. As much as I really love the art style of Okami and Okami Den, I'd definitely like to see an Okami game that looks like that as well.
YES FINALLY! I dropped off the Rise wagon but I'm jumping back in for this update!!
