Re: Retro-Bit Puts Super Retro Boy On Hold Following Game Boy Trademark Renewal

Chandlero

@impurekind Unfortunately, international patent and copyright fights are a complex matter. If you are not a big company with the right money resources, you should simply stay out of it.

However, the "boy" part, the design and even the retro-bit logo are just asking for problems..

By the way, I am looking forward to my GameShell. I am hope that will work out

@NinjaAceTrainer: I cite:

"Dr Richard Graham, lead technology addiction specialist at the Nightingale Hospital in London, welcomed the decision to recognise the condition. [...]

He said he sees about 50 new cases of digital addiction each year and his criteria is based on whether the activity is affecting basic things such as sleep, eating, socialising and education."

@MegaMari0: Better would be: "in an alternate reality where Rare still creates good games"

By the way, why shouldn't Nintendo release a remake of Diddy Kong Racing in this universe? They should still have all the rights to the game. Just some (most?) characters belong to Rare. Maybe, this is a complicated legal mix...

"In a parallel universe where Nintendo didn't sell Rare to Microsoft [...]"

Repeating doesn't make it true...

Nintendo didn't sell Rare. They just didn't buy Rare at any time. Yes, they had got 49% stake, but they never increased it and didn't buy Rare when Rare was searching a buyer. Then Microsoft did it and obviously Nintendo had to sell the rest of the stake.

I am not happy when someone shortens this to: Nintendo sold Rare.

Re: Amazon's 2017 Best Selling Games List Topped By Nintendo Titles

"vindicating Nintendo's decision to release the game on its outgoing console"

What? The vindication comes now from Amazon sales?? Not releasing a finished WiiU game would have been a slap in the face for all Nintendo fans. Just because Nintendo (and Nintendolife) ditched the WiiU very fast, doesn't mean that all consoles stopped working.

Re: DLC Review: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - The Champions' Ballad + Expansion Pass

Chandlero

@Ensemen Yes, it is a lot of work but Nintendo is not a small indie developer. They developed the Switch port of BotW in a year, so new playable characters in 9 months is possible, in all means.

On the other side, I personally didn't expect new characters or new gameplay. However, I did expect some story elements. Or at least an explanation why Link has to do some crazy stuff on the Great Plateau...

Re: Nintendo "Spending A Lot Of Time" Considering YouTube Livestream Monetisation

Chandlero

@Steven_the_2nd: That is a funny picture. But do you know how much Nintendo gets? Is it a fixed amount of 5$ per year and low percentage of the rest? Or is it a high percentage? It would be interesting to know.

By the way: Send me a link of your videos. If I like them, I will gladly donate you 6$. I always donate since I use an ad blocker and I am willing to pay directly for good work.

Re: Nintendo "Spending A Lot Of Time" Considering YouTube Livestream Monetisation

Chandlero

@Octane Of course, you are allowed to stream as much as you want. You just are not allowed to make money with advertisement. Donations are no problem at all.

EDIT: Sorry, I misunderstood you before, I think. Of course, you are right if the whole channel is in the program. In this case, the streamer needs another channel or has to switch to registering each video to the program.

Re: Nintendo "Spending A Lot Of Time" Considering YouTube Livestream Monetisation

Chandlero

@ennan If you put time and effort in a script and even alter the gameplay footage, then you don't need Nintendo's permission to earn money from your videos. It is all about the editorial work that changes the sources. The same holds for movie reviews, song covers and so on.

And to be honest: Most Let's play videos don't have a script and no editing involved. Therefore, the Creators program is a nice thing: You can just play and upload without legal problems and earn money.

Re: Natsume Staff Discuss the Beginning of the Harvest Moon Series

@KingMike: The game was even localised for Europe with German and French text in 1998. It is interesting to see that there was indeed some interest in such a game. The publisher for Europe was Nintendo itself.

By the way: The EU game cover is the best of all and the whole reason I bought the game in 1998
