Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has Embraced DLC, But Must Resist The Worst Industry Norms

Chandlero

@electrolite77 It totally agree.

Xenoblade 2 costs 60 EUR/$. That is less than I paid for Secret of Mana more than 20 years ago. And that doesn't even include inflation!

So therefore I can buy Xenoblade 2 for 60 EUR and play it. If I like it or want to play more after the end, I can purchase another part of the game. That is very fair. And I still have the option to choose not wasting more money on the game.

By the way: I don't see the logic behind buying the season pass upfront. Why are you buying an expansion pack before you need to? It is not like that it will be out of stock, will be getting more expensive or will vanish suddenly. Can someone explain me this?

Re: Super Mario Maker Updates Are Now Live

@HopeNForever You don't need the dual screen for Mario Maker. Seriously, I never saw the second screen of the game since I play the game only on the WiiU GamePad. However, the other points you mentioned are totally valid. I agree. Mario Maker would only work as a handheld only game when it comes to creating levels. Then not having a resistive touchscreen and stylus is a big disadvantage for the game.

Nevertheless, there is no alternative. Nintendo trimmed Super Mario Maker now and doesn't give any functional updates anymore. There is no other way than bringing the game to Switch. Such a nice concept must not die.

@Honelith: Miiverse could have been improved and used on Switch. Okay, maybe it was too expensive for Nintendo and I understand it. But the implementation in WiiU games was just great. The Plaza when starting the WiiU was nice, the messages in games was a social interaction one normally doesn't have in single player game and, finally, the live comments in Super Mario Maker levels were perfect. A lot of levels were also built on this feature by using quiz questions, giving hints or jokes. I really liked it!

Therefore, pulling the plug on Miiverse is too early but ripping Super Mario Maker apart is a slap in the face of every Mario Maker fan.

@thesilverbrick: We really lowered our expectations here, didn't we? Super Mario Maker is just 2 years old! And the game is time-less in its structure. Regardless, Nintendo doesn't offer us any comment function what so ever. It is really a poor move, here.

Re: Random: Say Goodbye To Miiverse With This Touching Tribute

Chandlero

@PurinPuff Of course, Mario Maker is still functional, just without commenting function. However, I find it unacceptable that Nintendo don't include a new commentating function in Super Mario Maker. The game is just two years old and comments are essential for creating levels...

Re: You Won't Be Able To Download L.A. Noire Without A MicroSD Card

Chandlero

@kobashi100: The calculation is more or less unfunded but it really doesn't matter here. As in the old days, the publisher has three choices:

(1) Release the game on the needed cartridge.

(2) Cut and compress the game such that it fits on the wanted cartridge.

(3) Just release a download code in a retail package.

These are discrete options and superimposing or interpolating them is just pure nonsense.

Re: Nintendo Gamers Prefer Using Switch As A Handheld Rather Than Docked

Chandlero

@shani: Of course, it is a portable console. Everybody knows that. However, there is not just an HDMI output but a whole functional concept included. By putting it in the dock and using the detached joycons, it works like a home console. The numbers above show us that this hybrid concept accepted. There, I don't see your point.

Nevertheless, you are right by saying that Nintendo left the traditional home console market. They also did this with the Wii.
