I was a huge fan of the original, it was easily my most played DS game. I'm definitely excited for this, but not gonna lie I am disappointed at some of the games they cut from the DS game. Rummy, BS, Field Tactics, Takeover, Balance, Hangman.....those were some of my favorite/most played games. Don't get me wrong there are a handful of great new additions and revamped returning games in this Switch version, but for example I could do without Ludo and Connect 4 (especially since we have Connect 5 already), and some of the new additions just don't do it for me, personally.
I don't see why they just didn't keep all the games from the DS version and just revamp them+add the new ones. There's no excuse for cutting them considering a DS game from 2006 (with no capacity for DLC or system memory storage) could contain all of them; it's just laziness. I do have slight optimism that they might add some DLC down the road, considering almost all of Nintendo's first party Switch releases have received DLC of some kind.
I haven't gotten to play Tengen Tetris on NES, but I saw some gameplay videos. The additional modes and features look neat, but stylistically I prefer Nintendo's version honestly. Specifically the color palettes, and Music Theme 3. Man, do I love that theme.
If anyone’s curious about the changes in the game list between the DS game and this one:
Brand new: Mancala, Hare and Hounds, traditional connect 4, Richi mahjong, Golf, Nine Men’s Morris, Air Hockey, War, Carrom, Yacht Dice, Tayoyaki, Hex, Spider Solitaire, Shooting Gallery, Slot Cars, Hit and Blow, Pig’s Tail, Fishing, Toy Tennis, Toy Soccer, Toy Baseball, Toy Boxing, Toy Curling, Battletanks, Team Tanks, Sliding Puzzle, 6 Ball Puzzle
Returning: Hanafuda, Backgammon, Reversi, Checkers, President, Dominoes, Spit, Blackjack, Chess, Shogi, Mini Shogi, Ludo, Sevens, Darts, Texas Hold Em, Chinese Checkers, Pool, Connect 5, Matching, Bowling, Dots and Boxes, Mahjong Solitaire, Uno, Solitaire
Cut: Old Maid, Bullcrap, Pig, Hearts, Rummy, Seven Bridge, Nap, Spades, Contract Bridge, Battleship, Field Tactics, Soda Shake, Hangman, Balance Board, Takeover, Escape
@J-Plap I don't think this has anything to do with spirits, I don't see any new spirits here. It's just a special limited time tourney in the Online Tourney mode.
@KoopaTheQuick A PW64 character would have been awesome. Lark probably would have had the best chance as he/Nester had his own game (albeit a Virtual Boy game). It's too bad PW64 has never seen a re-release to this day.
So I still really enjoyed/enjoy Pokemon Sword/Shield, and would consider it one of my favorite games of 2019. But it could have been soooo much better. I was secretly hoping Sword/Shield didn't sell well, so that it would send a message to the Pokemon Company+Game Freak to up their game in the future. Unfortunately, the insane sales numbers prove otherwise. I guess I'm part of the problem since I bought it, but in my defense I haven't really gotten a mainline Pokemon game since Gold/Silver/Crystal (except for Sun, played 2 hours and quit because of how much it dragged on).
Unbelievable, Nintendo. How hard is it to stock a freaking SNES controller? And why is the limit 4 per My Nintendo account when the NES controllers limit was 1 per account?
My games collection is sentimental to me. The original cartridges/consoles I had growing up hold a ton of memories. Some of them have save files that haven't been touched in ages, they're like moments frozen in time. The only reason I would sell any of them now is if I literally had to, for financial reasons. I made the mistake of selling a bunch of my GameCube games years ago, and over the course of 6-7 years, I ended up buying back 90% of them lol.
However, I generally stopped acquiring retro games recently because of the skyrocketing prices. I only got games I was/am interested in, but it was still just too expensive. Also, the mini classic consoles are ridiculously convenient for me. I love the NES and SNES, but haven't touched either original console in years because I just use my NES and SNES minis all the time. I get people's critiques of them, but I'm a big fan of them, and I wish N64+GameCube would get the mini console treatment.
Good call Reggie, the Nintendo logo is just timeless. I did like the light blue-colored Wii U boxes, but going to red and white was a great choice. It's a slick, striking combo.
I have a fondness for the NA box art but Europe's isn't bad. The black borders for once don't intrude on the box art.
Side note: I'm looking forward to if/when Majora's Mask has a Box Art Brawl. The Japanese MM box art is one of my all time favorite box arts of any system.
I bought the Fighters Pass 1 when Banjo was revealed. Looking back now, it was a wash. Personally, Banjo was amazing, Piranha was great, Terry's decent, but Hero was meh, and Joker, Byleth= barf.
I'm definitely happy there are six more characters coming (and Cuphead Mii costume!) but man I really hope no more picks like Byleth/Fire Emblem. I can't overstate how disappointing this pick was to me. Definitely waiting for the reveals before buying the second fighter's pass this time around.
@PickledKong64 I just generally don't sell my consoles, particularly Nintendo ones. If anything, I might give it to a friend down the road sometime. But it's nice to have a physical backup of some Wii U <-> Switch games in case something goes wrong in the future, particularly with digital games. But the whole Wii U setup+menu navigation is just too slow and clunky for me to use regularly nowadays, especially when I want to play in short 5-10 minute bursts.
Honestly, I've been wanting to retire my Wii U permanently to storage, so I'm open to more ports of the remaining Wii U gems. I just wish the pricing of Wii U ports was more appropriate. If Nintendo re-introduces a player's choice line at bargain prices, these would be day 1 double-dips for me. I mean, on PS4 there are GOTY-tier games like Spiderman and Horizon Zero Dawn, that include all their respective dlc, for a grand total price of $15-20 each. Not to mention generously priced compilations like the Uncharted Collection or Kingdom Hearts The Story So Far.
I wish Nintendo did more compilations. The last big one I remember is the Kirby Dream Collection on Wii in 2012, and that was a fantastic package.
I will be very disappointed if there's not a general Nintendo Direct either this month or February. It's been like 4+ months since the last one, and we have no heavy hitters either revealed or with a definitive date outside of Animal Crossing. I mean, they just released Pokemon Sword/Shield. More than likely this Poke direct will be centered around garbage mobile games/apps. If they are announcing cut Pokemon DLC for Sword/Shield, that would be great, but 99% chance it would be paid DLC.
FWIW, last year, a Pokemon Direct aired two weeks after the general February Nintendo Direct. Hoping that is the case this year, that a general direct comes with 1-3 weeks or so.
I've wanted Banjo since SSB64/Melee days, so that was definitely the Nintendo moment of the year for me. Trailer was perfect, especially the little touch of the Rareware characters cheering Banjo on. BOTW 2 reveal trailer would be a close #2. BOTW is among my favorite Zelda games, and in general favorite games of all time.
I do miss Reggie. I mean sometimes he was definitely frustrating with vague answers and PR stuff especially during Wii/Wii U game droughts. But he was/is an interesting person and you could tell he genuinely loved having a role at Nintendo. Maybe I'm being harsh, but I don't get that same vibe from Doug Bowser, at least yet.
I'm gonna go with NA on this one, because of the prominent sword.
Side note, man I loved this game, I need to replay it again. Epic Yarn was great too, but KRTD was probably my overall favorite Nintendo platformer on the Wii (between KRTD, KEY, NSMBW, WL:SI!, and DKCR).
More content, and being able to get the limited time themes again is appreciated, especially that's it's free. However, I wish they just added a duos/squad option for the main Tetris 99 mode. I tried out the password match feature in team battle, and unless you have 98 human friends simultaneously joining in, the rest are filled by CPUs. That's disappointing. It seems like they had streamers in mind with that mode, since popular ones can easily get 98 other humans to join a match in a second.
This would have been a perfect game to utilize the recent "Game Invites" feature on the Switch home menu, but Nintendo's gonna Nintendo. Luigi's Mansion and Pokemon released after the update but don't use it, and Smash/Mario Kart/Splatoon/Tetris 99 etc. haven't been updated to use it. Literally only one random 3rd party game utilizes it. Classic Nintendo ineptitude regarding online.
I'm very nostalgic about the NA box art, and still think it's good, but I think Japan wins this one. The comic strip style is neat and all of the OG 8 are right on the front.
A few new things that were not mentioned in the article, mainly new music:
-Zelda 1 Dungeon music plays in the Ghost House+Underground themes.
-Zelda 1 Death Mountain plays in the Airship+Castle themes.
-Zelda 1 Overworld plays in the rest of the themes.
When Link, the following placeable sound effects change:
—“Peaceful” changes to 8-bit “Fairy Fountain.”
—“Bowser Jr.” changes to Zelda 2: AoL boss battle (Famicom version).
—“Bowser” changes to Zelda 2: Final Boss.
—“Bonus/Mushroom” changes to 8- bit “Horse Race” from Ocarina of Time.
It's so frustrating how the recent Mario spinoffs (Party, Tennis Aces, and now this Olympics game) have been getting less quality single player content/cutting options in general compared to their predecessors. Just something "off" with every single one. This one had promise. I might get it if it reaches bargain bin prices for the local multiplayer.
Online tourney is nice, but hopefully they allow you to make your own to play with friends online. Some other things I hope for by the time the last DLC rolls around:
-Online fixes in general -Enable online for Squad Strike and Smashdown -Home Run Contest -Character-unique Break the Targets (big longshot here)
What's stopping The Pokemon Company+Game Freak from getting more development staff/asking for outside help if it is too difficult to add in all the Pokemon/have good animations etc.? Or simply delaying the game? Nintendo got Monolith Soft to help with Zelda BOTW, they enlisted Retro to revive Metroid Prime 4, they delayed Animal Crossing to ensure its quality and prioritize health of employees, why can't TPC/GF do the same? Pokemon is literally the highest grossing franchise in the world. Not Star Wars, not a Marvel IP, but Pokemon. [https://screenrant.com/pokemon-highest-grossing-media-franchise/]. You're telling me that they cannot ask for or hire more development help in some way?
I've said it before, TPC (and the higher ups at Game Freak) are seemingly too proud and too cheap to make a BOTW-tier Pokemon game. And why would they at this point? Every single mainline release makes bank regardless of effort/quality.
I played like 5 minutes of the original so this is basically a new experience for me. Fun game, reminds me a bit of Diddy Kong Racing but man the AI rubberbanding on normal difficulty and above is absolutely brutal. It's approaching Mario Kart 64 level.
I wanted to like ARMS more than I did. I love the character designs (especially Kid Cobra, Helix and Min Min), the idea, and it being a new Nintendo IP. But the gameplay just didn't do it for me longer term like Splatoon did. First couple party crashes were fun, but I skipped most of the latter ones and only did some subsequent ones to get 100% arms for all the fighters. Since then, I haven't touched the game in months. Some of my relatives really like it so it'll be brought out for occasional local multiplayer but I'm not really interested in playing it otherwise.
I think ARMS would have fared better if: A.) It had more substantial content in general B.) It was a launch title. C.) It released at $30-$40. The Switch's launch was rough in general outside of BOTW. Super Bomberman R felt fairly lacking and the online was outright terrible before they eventually patched it, and 1+2 Switch was not well received. ARMS could have been a more definitive face of Switch multiplayer. But I think Splatoon 2 releasing only a few weeks after just overshadowed ARMS. For a new fighting game IP, it still did fairly well, I just think it had potential to do more.
Good to hear, and hopefully they keep to their word with the continuing refinement. I bought the physical edition of this game, but I haven't opened it yet because I wanted to see how the online plays out. Single player portion is obviously important to me but in a game like this, so is online.
Super Bomberman R left a bad taste in my mouth with its terrible launch, and although they eventually improved the online over time and added DLC, it was too late. The online community became a ghost town pretty quickly in my experience.
I think Sw/Sh will likely be decent overall, a couple of the new features are great. But Pokemon will never be the "best it can be" as long as Game Freak are the developers and release a new main game every year. This falls on fans too, who demand and buy them constantly. I mean, there was only one year in the past decade that they did not release a new mainline Pokemon game (I consider remakes of old gens as mainline games, and outside of the behemoth of GO, I exclude spinoffs like Mystery Dungeon and Quest.)
2010: HeartGold/SoulSilver 2011: Black/White 2012: Black 2/White 2 2013: X/Y 2014: Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire 2015: (None) 2016: Sun/Moon + GO 2017: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon 2018: Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee 2019: Sword/Shield
If Game Freak/The Pokemon Company actually took their time and had say 3-4 years to create a mainline Switch Pokemon game, I think it would be BOTW tier. But GF/TPC are seemingly too cheap and proud to hire or ask for more development help (they did for GO, but mobile is a separate beast). Nintendo got Monolith Soft to help with Zelda, enlisted Retro to revive Metroid Prime 4, why can't GF/TPC do the same if it's "too difficult" to have new HD models/animations for all Pokemon? This isn't a tiny new indie developer creating their own little 2D platformer IP. GF has been around for 25+ years, and Pokemon is the highest grossing media franchise in the world in revenue. Not Marvel, not Star Wars, not classic Disney IPs....but Pokemon. [https://screenrant.com/pokemon-highest-grossing-media-franchise/].
This goes back to my point that GF/TPC are too cheap and proud in certain aspects. Same franchise that was too proud/cheap for cloud saves, the whole Mario Maker/Yoshi Woolly World costume thing, and one save file per game as a core tenet of the whole series. Sorry for the long post, just my two cents.
The original Link's Awakening is one of my favorite games of all time. This game so far looks like Game Boy LA with an HD coat of paint. I know there's that new Dampe feature, and we only have a demo and 2 trailers to go off of. But based on the footage, 95% of the game looks the same. Even certain items, enemies in the overworld and dungeon are in the EXACT same location as the original. Which is fine, but to me not $60 fine, and especially when billed as a "reimagining" by Nintendo. I have strong doubts that LA Switch will be a re-imagining. Hopefully I'm wrong.
@beazlen1 I want to agree with you, but considering Nintendo's history I'm not optimistic. This is the same company that ported DK Tropical Freeze on Switch at full price with no new content besides an easy mode (Funky Kong) and DELISTED the original digital version of the Wii U release in North America because it was a $20 Nintendo Select.
@AlienX Oh, I didn't mean that VC is the best way to play S3+K or that it's an impressive feat. I just brought up the Wii to emphasize my point about the issue being copyright and not emulation. I know that the game officially appeared on the GameCube/PS2 and even the Saturn.
Please be Timesplitters 4 or a Timesplitters trilogy HD! Or even just TS2 itself remastered and with online. Still in my top 3 favorite FPS of all time.
@NEStalgia The original release was on a label, "Pan American" but I can't easily find more info on it. The modern release is on an independent label called "Fervor Records".
I think context is important too. Sonic 3+K was a treasured Genesis game and was often seen as the pinnacle of classic Sonic before Sonic Mania came out (still is to some people). The last official releases of either Sonic 3 or Sonic+Knuckles were on Steam in 2011 and DS in 2010. For SEGA not to re-release either game on 3DS, Wii U, PS4, X1, Switch, and now their own Genesis classic, copyright has to be the reason in some way, imo. It makes no other sense otherwise, since weaker consoles emulated them just fine.
@NEStalgia Brad Buxer contributed to the Sonic 3 soundtrack to some degree. Buxer was a longtime collaborator with Michael Jackson, but before then he was in a band called The Jetzons. They had a song called "Hard Times" in 1982. The band unofficially broke up sometimes in the late 80s/90s (?). Ice Cap Zone is basically note for note, the same melody as "Hard Times".
The overall quality and quantity of games is impressive, but there are a few notable omissions. Sonic 3+K, Streets of Rage 1&3, TMNT Hyperstone Heist, Ristar, and Rocket Knight Adventures off the top of my head. I'm still probably getting this though.
@NEStalgia The Wii actually had Sonic 3+K combined. You had to buy Sonic 3 and Sonic&Knuckles individually of course, but if you booted up S&K and hold the minus button, you could "lock on" to Sonic 3, just like the original Genesis. Naturally, you could lock on to Sonic 2 and Sonic 1 too (assuming they were bought , although Sonic 1 only has the blue sphere minigame). So I don't think it's an emulation issue if the Wii could do it, but rather copyright. I'm not sure if it's because of MJ or the Ice Cap Zone.
Great news about the amiibo support. I’ve wanted this since Smash Wii U. I imagine there will be some type of Battle Arena filter so players can avoid amiibos if they choose, similar to the spirit filter.
The core game still looks fantastic, but this is disappointing along with mystery costumes being cut. And yes, I actually used the mystery mushrooms frequently and wished for online friend co-op since Mario Maker 1. The "leaderboard" reasoning just confirms Nintendo's complete ineptitude regarding anything online.
Also, this isn't the first time that a misguided focus on "rankings" had a negative effect on a Nintendo game's content/options......look at Mario Tennis Aces. It took them eight months to add a COURT SELECT, and it still doesn't have the complete set of match options that its N64 predecessor from 2000 (!) had. Not to mention Splatoon 2 lacking cloud saves (arguably the game that needs them the most).
@SuperCesco A simple solution to Nintendo's "concern" of cheating the leaderboard/rankings would be simply to disable rankings while playing friends' courses/with friends online. Kinda like their local wireless play already does by default and how Mario Tennis Aces, Mario Kart 8D, Smash Battle Arenas, ARMS online already operate. But that would be too sensible for Nintendo.
I'd be surprised if there are no DLC themes, considering the magnitude of this game. 3D World being its own separate category bodes well for SMB2, since they both have wildly different features than the other styles. Although, I don't think the plural "Extra Styles" necessarily confirms anything. The upper section has "Game Style" in the singular, even though there are four options present.
Nevertheless....fingers crossed for SMB2 and Land 1+2 styles.
@McDerbert Yea it was odd. This is a stretch, but maybe it was a allusion to Mount Must Dash (the Super Mario Kart-inspired level) in 3D World?
Yea, X is my favorite with the original SNES a close second. GX is a good game in its own right and technically impressive, but it just didn't click with me like the previous 2 games did. I don't know if it was the difficulty or just overall handling. Similar to how I feel about Wave Race 64 and Wave Race Blue Storm. Each to their own I guess.
I really wish there was an F-Zero legacy collection, with SNES+BS tracks, X+Expansion Kit, GX+AX, all with leaderboards/ghosts and a few bonus challenges/features. That would be so awesome.
If they are limiting the game selection to one per franchise.....yikes. I'm not sure that's the case, but why would they have a direct poll like this?
A Genesis mini without Sonic 1 or 2 is like the SNES Classic without Super Mario World or Yoshi's Island. I mean, the recent Genesis compilation on Switch/PS4 has ~50 games.
Most of those games you listed should have more new/overall content bundled in or at least be discounted. Like I have DK Tropical Freeze on Wii U but I would have double dipped on the full price Switch version if they bundled in DKCR from Wii with button controls, and new levels/challenges/minigames, etc.
@Heavyarms55 I don't think it's insulting to criticize the (potential) $60 price. And I say this as a huge fan of the original Link's Awakening. Granted, $60 is an unofficial retail placeholder. We don't know the real price, could be $15 for all we know. Still, look at some other remakes:
-Nintendo's own Metroid Samus Returns, $40 -Shadow of the Colossus HD on PS4, $40 -Crash Trilogy Remastered, $40 -Crash Team Racing HD remake, $40 -Spyro Trilogy Remastered, $40 -Wonder Boy III HD Switch, $20
So far, it looks like this game is straight up GB Link's Awakening with a coat of HD paint, imo. If there is substantial new content, then the trailer did a poor job in conveying that. In contrast, the Metroid Samus Returns trailer (another remake of a classic Nintendo GB game) showed new gameplay features, new landscapes/terrain, returning enemies with new attacks, and brand new music right off the bat.
Um....look at the rest of his Instagram posts. He posts pictures of Kirby with countless stuff. To name a few: Ghostbusters, Powerpuff Girls, french fries, Majora's Mask, a dacschund, Albert Einstein, Mr. Saturn, dumbbells, Link amiibo, sushi, Baskin Robbins shake, donuts, a giant Pikachu...
A Dragon Quest character may or may not appear as DLC, but this picture has nothing to do with it imo.
Not surprised. It had a good run. But it's time to move on, as far as brand new releases. Some of these remakes (Luigi's Mansion, Kirby) should definitely have been on Switch instead, or at the very least simultaneously with 3DS, like Captain Toad.
I still play my 3DS now and then. For me, Switch and 3DS fill different niches, if that makes sense. Switch is the "shiny new console" for the newest "big" games and multiplayer. 3DS is the rugged "Ol' Reliable" that I take with me for quick, easy playing. For example, passing by a few minutes waiting in a car, or on long trips.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #23 - Snowboard Kids
I like both Japan and NA, but I think Japan is best because of the portrait orientation. It brings out the snowboarding appeal more.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #21 - Kirby's Return To Dream Land
I'm gonna go with NA on this one, because of the prominent sword.
Side note, man I loved this game, I need to replay it again. Epic Yarn was great too, but KRTD was probably my overall favorite Nintendo platformer on the Wii (between KRTD, KEY, NSMBW, WL:SI!, and DKCR).
Re: Play Together As A Squad In Tetris 99's New Team Battle Mode Update
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #20 - Super Smash Bros.
I'm very nostalgic about the NA box art, and still think it's good, but I think Japan wins this one. The comic strip style is neat and all of the OG 8 are right on the front.
Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Version 2.0 Full Patch Notes - Link's Master Sword, Ninji Speedrun And More
@Euler I do not, I just found out from playing my game. I didn't find it on YouTube yet.
Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Version 2.0 Full Patch Notes - Link's Master Sword, Ninji Speedrun And More
A few new things that were not mentioned in the article, mainly new music:
Re: Review: Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - Great Multiplayer, But A Step Backwards For Solo Athletes
Re: Check Out The New Features In The Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 4.0 Update
Online tourney is nice, but hopefully they allow you to make your own to play with friends online. Some other things I hope for by the time the last DLC rolls around:
-Online fixes in general
-Enable online for Squad Strike and Smashdown
-Home Run Contest
-Character-unique Break the Targets (big longshot here)
Re: Junichi Masuda Releases Official Statement About Limiting Sword And Shield's Pokédex
Re: Review: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled - A Karting Treat For Fans And Newcomers Alike
I played like 5 minutes of the original so this is basically a new experience for me. Fun game, reminds me a bit of Diddy Kong
Racing but man the AI rubberbanding on normal difficulty and above is absolutely brutal. It's approaching Mario Kart 64 level.
Re: Feature: It's Time To Lay Down Your ARMS
Re: Switch Version Of Crash Team Racing Receives Early Patch To Improve Online Multiplayer
Re: Soapbox: Why Sword And Shield's Pokémon Purge Will Benefit Everyone
I think Sw/Sh will likely be decent overall, a couple of the new features are great. But Pokemon will never be the "best it can be" as long as Game Freak are the developers and release a new main game every year. This falls on fans too, who demand and buy them constantly. I mean, there was only one year in the past decade that they did not release a new mainline Pokemon game (I consider remakes of old gens as mainline games, and outside of the behemoth of GO, I exclude spinoffs like Mystery Dungeon and Quest.)
2010: HeartGold/SoulSilver
2011: Black/White
2012: Black 2/White 2
2013: X/Y
2014: Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire
2015: (None)
2016: Sun/Moon + GO
2017: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon
2018: Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee
2019: Sword/Shield
Re: Hands On: Zelda: Link's Awakening On Switch Treads A Fine Line Between Remake And Reimagining
Re: Mega Drive Mini Games List: All 42 Titles Revealed
@AlienX Oh, I didn't mean that VC is the best way to play S3+K or that it's an impressive feat. I just brought up the Wii to emphasize my point about the issue being copyright and not emulation. I know that the game officially appeared on the GameCube/PS2 and even the Saturn.
Re: THQ Nordic Will Reveal Three New Games Over The Next Three Days
Please be Timesplitters 4 or a Timesplitters trilogy HD! Or even just TS2 itself remastered and with online. Still in my top 3 favorite FPS of all time.
Re: Mega Drive Mini Games List: All 42 Titles Revealed
Re: Mega Drive Mini Games List: All 42 Titles Revealed
@NEStalgia Brad Buxer contributed to the Sonic 3 soundtrack to some degree. Buxer was a longtime collaborator with Michael Jackson, but before then he was in a band called The Jetzons. They had a song called "Hard Times" in 1982. The band unofficially broke up sometimes in the late 80s/90s (?). Ice Cap Zone is basically note for note, the same melody as "Hard Times".
Hard Times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2OWC5Hosv8
Ice Cap Zone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYxlqTpZ-24
Re: Mega Drive Mini Games List: All 42 Titles Revealed
Re: Today's Smash Bros. Ultimate Update Adds Labo VR Support
Great news about the amiibo support. I’ve wanted this since Smash Wii U. I imagine there will be some type of Battle Arena filter so players can avoid amiibos if they choose, similar to the spirit filter.
Re: Get Some Shut-Eye When Pokémon Sleep Arrives Next Year
.....Did the Onion secretly take over the press conference?
Re: It Seems You Can't Play Against Friends Online In Super Mario Maker 2
Re: It Seems You Can't Play Against Friends Online In Super Mario Maker 2
@SuperCesco A simple solution to Nintendo's "concern" of cheating the leaderboard/rankings would be simply to disable rankings while playing friends' courses/with friends online. Kinda like their local wireless play already does by default and how Mario Tennis Aces, Mario Kart 8D, Smash Battle Arenas, ARMS online already operate. But that would be too sensible for Nintendo.
Re: Will Nintendo Add More Game Styles To Super Mario Maker 2?
Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Admit That F-Zero X Is The Best F-Zero
Yea, X is my favorite with the original SNES a close second. GX is a good game in its own right and technically impressive, but it just didn't click with me like the previous 2 games did. I don't know if it was the difficulty or just overall handling. Similar to how I feel about Wave Race 64 and Wave Race Blue Storm. Each to their own I guess.
I really wish there was an F-Zero legacy collection, with SNES+BS tracks, X+Expansion Kit, GX+AX, all with leaderboards/ghosts and a few bonus challenges/features. That would be so awesome.
Re: Sega Wants To Know Which Games You'd Like On The Mega Drive Mini
If they are limiting the game selection to one per franchise.....yikes. I'm not sure that's the case, but why would they have a direct poll like this?
A Genesis mini without Sonic 1 or 2 is like the SNES Classic without Super Mario World or Yoshi's Island. I mean, the recent Genesis compilation on Switch/PS4 has ~50 games.
Re: Talking Point: Is The Remake Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Worth $60?
@canucksfan989 Fair enough point about Metroid.
Most of those games you listed should have more new/overall content bundled in or at least be discounted. Like I have DK Tropical Freeze on Wii U but I would have double dipped on the full price Switch version if they bundled in DKCR from Wii with button controls, and new levels/challenges/minigames, etc.
Re: Talking Point: Is The Remake Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Worth $60?
@Heavyarms55 I don't think it's insulting to criticize the (potential) $60 price. And I say this as a huge fan of the original Link's Awakening. Granted, $60 is an unofficial retail placeholder. We don't know the real price, could be $15 for all we know. Still, look at some other remakes:
-Nintendo's own Metroid Samus Returns, $40
-Shadow of the Colossus HD on PS4, $40
-Crash Trilogy Remastered, $40
-Crash Team Racing HD remake, $40
-Spyro Trilogy Remastered, $40
-Wonder Boy III HD Switch, $20
So far, it looks like this game is straight up GB Link's Awakening with a coat of HD paint, imo. If there is substantial new content, then the trailer did a poor job in conveying that. In contrast, the Metroid Samus Returns trailer (another remake of a classic Nintendo GB game) showed new gameplay features, new landscapes/terrain, returning enemies with new attacks, and brand new music right off the bat.
Re: Rumour: Next DLC Fighter For Smash Bros. Ultimate Seemingly Teased By Game Supervisor
Re: Japanese Charts: Smash Ultimate Crosses The 2.5 Million Mark, Early Mario & Luigi 3DS Sales Disappoint
@ieatdragonz Yup. It was really close for Melee and Double Dash though. Melee sold 7.09 million and Double Dash sold 7 million (worldwide).
Brawl's still the highest selling lone console Smash (for now) at 13.29 million, but Mario Kart Wii sold a staggering 37.14 million.
Re: Disappointing 3DS Software Sales Show The Console's Slow Death In Japan
