What they will do is compare the numbers for those who said in the survey they would buy for $60 to those who said they would buy for $50 and then conclude that they will make more money by selling for a 20% higher price to 15% fewer people.

Do Verizon make games?

Lots of the more highly esteemed "leakers"/"insiders" were proudly predicting there to be a confirmation of the direct date last week - only to then claim they were joking about it all. Does make it seem like it it is too easy to get some attention making "predictions".

I like some Indie games but obviously the vast majority are terrible (most of the shovelware that gets released every week is technically indie) - with a rare few gems being among the greatest games ever.

Just looked at what this expo had last year and not sure I’ve heard of any of them.

This is terrible news - the Super Mega Baseball games are fantastic. Built with so much love and fun! Its just a great baseball game that you pay once for and then you can play again and again.

There is a less than 0% chance that EA will make this game series any better - it's like it has been killed stone dead.

Dig 3 would probably be my game of the year as long as it doesn’t come out same year as BOTW2!

Fun game and absolutely gorgeous even today - but only minor gripe would be the fact it ever so slightly outstays it’s welcome. A natural ending point comes much earlier than the actual ending point

half a mil is a good effort for a game this size - I am sure they will pick up a few more too

I enjoyed this game - very relaxing to play through over Christmas when there was nothing much else on

The fact the developers did not intend it should not matter - in my mind that’s the same as the enemy you are fighting not intending you to use your brain as well as your skills

My switch from 2017 still going strong - never have any problems with overheating or excessive fan use and I play mostly handheld (on the couch so I don't hog the tv). The only slight issue I have notice is the battery life is slowly getting worse but still manageable for the moment.

Sounds like the common theme from those that have issues is to do with overheating - causing either the fan to work overtime or for parts of the unit to buckle under the heat. Not sure why that would happen in some cases but not others although maybe some particular games are demanding a lot, or maybe some units shipped with a dodgy batch of fans.

I’d quite like to hear something about Shovel Knight Dig which was announced a while back

I do think it’s cheeky that Japan has been getting a lot more of these free game trials than Europe or North America has. The only good ones I remember for the West have been Mario Tennis, Arms and Dead Cells whereas I am sure Japan has had more (they even had Captain Toad) - seems a bit unfair if we are all paying approximately the same price.

Replaying Fire Emblem Three Houses (with Blue Lions) for the first time since the original play through (with Black Eagles) a while back - enjoying it even more this time!

Been playing them both on the 3DS recently having missed them on original release. They are both great well designed games but I would say a little less intuitive than Links Awakening (maybe the phone box system would have worked)

I'd say this is almost the perfect game in either iteration. Perhaps not long enough or groundbreaking enough to be considered the best game of all time (OOT v BOTW for me) but probably with less flaws than contenders for that title, and completely successful in delivering what it sets out to achieve.

@KateGray oh yeah sorry it was a UK eshop price! Think I read about it in your Majora's Mask timeloop article and thought it would be good prep for Outer Wilds (plus my gold points covered it).

Picked up Minit for about £3 which will be worth a dabble.

Might also finally get Katamari Damacacy which is only about a fiver - heard it’s a classic

and it will cost £50/$60. For a Wii game.

@Clyde_Radcliffe That pricing is up there with DKTF as the most ridiculous game pricing on Switch. I was actually ok with the SM3DAS price but on that basis SMG was priced about $30 (and was also in HD for first time). This is therefore twice the price!

Outer Wilds was def the highlight of that direct for me. An actual winner of GOTY awards coming to Switch - be excited.

Story mode is intriguing - best but about the GBC Mario golf game

Just playing Shadows of Valentia at the moment! Great game so far - feels a bit more chilled out than Awakening and 3H (the only other FE games I have played).

Also - WWG is a fantastic game! Sometimes play a few rounds before bed. Some of the challenges in it are impossible though.

I would agree the IGN reviewer was just being honest - I have no criticism to make of that guy. But I think it’s fair to criticise the person at IGN who allocated the reviews to reviewers.

Why chose a guy whose starting point is that he doesn’t really enjoy these types of Mario games? It just means the review won’t be as useful to people who do like those types of games (though arguably the review will be more useful to those people who weren’t as likely to get the game).

@mcdreamer not sure - haven’t really worked out what the difference is yet! I can see the different versions for retail but there only seems to be one digital version on the eshop

@mcdreamer it’s great so far! Three Houses was my first FE game but went back and played Awakening after belatedly getting a 3DS and decided I now have to play the other 2 3DS instalments. Decided to do Echoes before Fates as Fates sounds fairly similar to Awakening but Echoes has a few different mechanics (plus I also managed to find Echoes much cheaper than Fates)

I completed Lost Levels recently on the game and watch - so no save states but you can get infinite lives. I’d say that’s a very underrated game and the true SMB2.

I’d put Six Golden Coins in top 3 - it does something that no other 2d Mario does: proper boss battles!
