BlazBlue, MK11, DBFZ, Pokken, SF, all the ACA Neo Geo fighers... loving all the fighting games the Switch is getting. I NEED to find time to finish coverting my WiiU Tekken Fightstick...
@GrailUK Why can't all consoles have an app for smart phones that connects via bluetooth/wifi to the console for that exact reason? The console would support streaming video to and input from the phone, just like a Wii U gamepad. The majority of the complications could be handled automatically by the system. All the developer would have to do is render an extra image infrequently and handle a few new input events.
Also - double standards... do you parents cover your child's eyes when taking them to history museums? I saw actual human remains (behind glass) long before I started watching "mature" movies.
Well that was stoopid. The majority of the people interested in these tables are in their 30s and 40s and have (rightly or wrongly) grown up with these classic tables.
This absolutely should be a seperate product. I was ready and willing to hand over my wallet for accurate renditions of classic pins like Madness and Tales but I'm now happy I picked up Pinball Arcade physically instead.
Half the attraction of pinball has always been the audio/visual experience.
No, thanks. Why would I be interested in buying a players guide for an online multiplayer game that will be patched repeatedly after it is published, significantly changing the game and invalidating the book?
Great game. I've played through a couple of times now and really dig how this game is structured - tackle the levels in any order - different levels depending on path chosen.
This game could really do with some optimization patches though... the Switch should not be slowing down this much when the action heats up.
Thanks but no thanks Nintendo. I have yet to see one of these that fully considers all facets of the switch design (e.g., what if I want to play Tate style?). I'll just make my own...
Nintendo really did screw up when designing the Switch form to factor tabletop play. Both the kickstand and USB port placement suck big time... just move the port so there is a slot cut out of the back of the unit and integrate the kickstand as a cover for said slot.
I really don't know how the Switch was released with these obvious design flaws... come on Nintendo! - you should be better than this.
@cookepuss I get your point wrt storage. I too have been gaming since the 80's and have amassed quite a considerable collection; over a dozen systems and nearly one thousand physical games. However, space has yet to become an issue for me personally.
For perspective - I stopped gaming on PC years ago precisely because of ownership issues (etc..) and I don't even have a Steam account. If it comes to it - there are more than enough great physical games already available to keep me happy until the day I die; without having to give up ownership of the things.
The day I can't buy AAA console games in physical form is the day I stop buying AAA games, period. Screw Game Pass, PS Now and all the rest of em.
You know what happens to your digital game purchases if your Live account gets hijacked - they're gone and neither Microsoft nor Sony give a damn. Just in my own circle of friends I know two people who lost their entire "collections" worth ££££s.
So yeah, I'll keep buying physical and using the free coins to pick up small games digitally and as a way to get DLC I wouldn't have bought otherwise.
@SimplyCinnamon53 Dunno. I just proceeded to purchase, clicked the use-coins box in the payment method form when asked and it went through (as a £0.00 payment). There was no mention of a limit anywhere for me (UK eshop).
I'll wait for physical Axiom Verge. Just picked up FIFA18, Lego Worlds and Pokken so my wallet could do with a breather anyway haha. (Switch has no games lol...).
Earth Atlantis and Oxenfree for me this week. Possibly a couple of others if I've time.
Played the first MXGP on PS4 and had a great time. Skipped two because I didn't like the direction they were taking... This one however, looks like a big improvement on the first. Day one for sure.
@Moon They just released a big new game mode & game balance patch for Tumbleseed that apparently addresses most of difficulty/design issues. I've yet to try it out, though.
@dystome the tempo is indeed quickening as we approach xmas - according to the EU release schedule I compiled myself; we're getting a new physical release practically every week from September onwards.
Got a pair of Mothca Joy-Con "Gel" Guards (cost me £5) and haven't looked back... ...they may as well be glued on, cos they're never removed (have a Pro so don't use the grip).
Cool. Though I'd much rather Nintendo implement support for PC compatible USB fight sticks at Switch OS level instead. Then I'd be able to use the sticks I already own and use on PC/PS3/Wii(U) for Pokkén and the rapidly growing ACA Neo Geo collection.
Loved both Stick It and Zombie Vikings (on PS4) - will definitely be picking this up when it comes to Switch. (I'm totally down for those two on Switch also... ...my PS4 collection is shrinking fast...)
+1 double dipping on Mario Kart 8. I dare say there will be plenty of Wii U owners buying a Switch who'll be trading up (act soon guys - value is dropping fast).
Portable MK8 with all DLC and a fully fledged Battle Mode can't be ignored.
(I did the same with Rayman, Steep, Zombie Vikings...).
If FIFA on Switch sells well enough I fully expect to see Madden (and more) announced fairly soon after launch. It is a shame Nintendo didn't manage to convince them from the outset but thats the reality - sports games have historically sold poorly on their platforms for all the reasons already mentioned in this very thread. Theres hope, at least.
Portable FIFA with local multiplayer over WIFI in adition to online and all the content of 18 on the go and at home? - thats a day one purchase by me for sure.
Imagine being able to walk into any pub and get a game going in minutes... That could be huge.
IMO it actually doesn't matter whether or not GC games made wide use of the analog triggers. The reality is they have become a standard on practically every home game system since the late 90s.
Kiss goodbye to intuitively controlled driving sims on Switch
Hmm. I guess the reason the triggers are digital is because they wanted to allow using a single joycon for each player. Although I'm sure that could have been solved on the strap thingies.
Digital triggers: Either Nintendo is utterly clueless and/or stubborn as mules (NiH), or they deliberately made them digital in order to sell us analog Joycon 2's down the road...
Since when has Nintendo cared about their hardware "looking ugly" !? N64 pad, says hi. LOL
I paid full retail for Saturn Bomberman on day one (plus multitap and extra joypads), roughly 20 years ago... ...and I routinely enjoy it still - more often than many of the hundreds of modern AAA games in my collection...
This modern, portable, eight player (local|online), Hudson-developed(!?) Switch version could potentially dethrone the former.
The distinct lack of polish and all-over-the-place messaging seen in the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 lost my interest soon after the joycon info... the remaining 40 minutes was pretty much a car crash... somehow they managed to show a dozen games and underwelm with everything beside the LoZ: BotW trailer.
I pre-ordered regardless because I'm a Nintendo fan.

Re: Review: Child of Light: Ultimate Edition - A Painterly Action RPG Which Still Shines Four Years On
The only reason I'd double dip on this admitedly great game would be for a physical release.

Got my copy early... loving so far, though it could do with a patch to iron out a few resource caching perf issues.
Re: New Splatoon Secret Project Is Set To "Shock The World" Just Days Before E3
@P1X3L I very much doubt that Ninty would do that to Splatoon - introduce straight up deathmatch - just for the sake of turning it into a royale mode.
Re: New Splatoon Secret Project Is Set To "Shock The World" Just Days Before E3
@ThatNyteDaez Thats team deathmatch. Fundamentally - turf control does not work if there are too many teams - what you get is complete chaos.
Re: New Splatoon Secret Project Is Set To "Shock The World" Just Days Before E3
Several people have suggested a Battle Royale mode... how would that even work in a turf control game like Splatoon?

Just cashed in my year one gold coins and picked up both Nine Parchments and Subsurface Circular, for FREE. Really can't complain...

Any chance of a physical release?
Re: Rumour: Porting Steep to the Switch Is Posing a Steep Challenge
Steep is a great fit for Switch assuming they can rearchitect around a not-always-online model.
I never bothered with the online aspect - appears to be pvp + leaderboards + challenge events (?); whats the problem here?
I put in around 30hrs on the PS4 and stopped entirely when I heard about it coming to Switch. Fingers crossed...
