The cost to manufacture the cartridges will come down as more are made. They're relatively expensive at the moment as they will be classed as a limited run. If Nintendo tell the company to make 10 million cartridges they'll charge one price but a 50 million cartridge order will work out much cheaper per unit.
I am disgusted with this left joycon issue. For many years I've been playing video games with the controller behind my back and sitting in a separate room. This is 2017 Nintendo!
I think the Switch is awful. Every time I go to bed I bring it with me and inevitably stay up to the early hours playing zelda. I haven't had a good nights sleep in just over a week! Damn you Nintendo! You've made a console I can't put down.
I must be extremely lucky. I've had zero issues with any part of my Switch and am fully enjoying my experience. I had one connection drop on my pro controller but moving my Switch from behind the tv solved this.
Just been to see Logan at the cinema. Two gaming adverts. One for Horizon and one for Zelda. BoTW looked so good on the massive screen. If I had my switch on me I would have pulled it out there and then. Switch is still available in the U.K. As I saw them on the shelves in my local sainsburys this morning.
This is the one I'll be playing with my wife. She's not really a gamer but I'm sure she's going to love this. Couple of bottles of prosecco and snipperclips- that's the plan for Saturday night.
Calm down guys it's only a game! Yes I'm excited and yes I have googled "Zelda" and "Switch" 46 times today but come on people, get some perspective. BTW 2 sleeps to go.
I can see where they're coming from with this. If someone gets hurt driving one of these things wearing a Mario costume it's Nintendo that'll get the bad PR even though they had nothing to do with it.
I won't be getting into anything as major as Zelda while the update runs. There's usually a mandatory system restart afterwards so I'll probably have a quick blast on bomberman.
I wonder if the midnight launch timeframe in a big region like USA will cause servers to slowdown or crash with everyone downloading the update at the same time.
Here in the U.K. I can't imagine it being an issue which is cool as I'll be downloading snipperclips as well.
@gingerbeardman Quick question buddy. When ordering from Amazon.de do you pay anything extra for postage or anything? I've just been on there website and everything seems cheaper than Amazon U.K.
This leaves me in a quandary. I wasn't going to get an extra set of joycons till Arms came out but if they are chucking snipperclips in for free or maybe a fiver extra then I can certainly see the value but then I want snipperclips for Day One and the bundle doesn't come out till a week later. First world problems!
@gspro15198 in theory as long as the game is available to download. In any case I'm sure someone would give you a tenner for the code on eBay. If they honour it it'll save me £38. As I'm using Game UK credit I'll have to think of something else to buy now.
From what I'm gathering from various sources is that lots of things we used to do on the console will be handed off to your phone. So like the share button will capture pics that then appear in the app. From the app you can then share on your social media app of choice. I'm not sure if this will work well but it seems to be a concerted effort by Nintendo to do what they do best: make games. Thus leaving social media and online streaming and all that to do on your phone/ tablet.
I think it needs a web browser or some kind of work around for logging into certain wi fi services like hotels where you have to register before you get access. Other than that I just want it to play games, I don't see the need for another device that has all these apps on them.
@Calllack Thank you so much for this auspicious award. I haven't really prepared a speach but you know I'd like to thank my family and friends without whom I wouldn't be the man I am today. Oh and of course our lord Jesus Christ.
I went to a Facebook tent on a xmas market recently during a trip to New York. I was blown away by how good their VR was (is it oculus?) however after 10 minutes I was kinda bored and started feeling a bit sick. It reminds me of 3D films where at first you think it's amazing but quickly get tired of the gimmick and just want to get on with the film. Every now and again something random pops out at you without adding anything to the story. It can be quite jarring. One of the many strengths of the Switch is bringing people together to play games. VR just isolates the player.
Who gives a poop which version it's based on. A console quality Fifa on a mobile device is just what the switch needs. Quick match on the way to work, ad hoc two player on your lunch break and then back home for some online tournaments on the tv.
I think there is some logic behind the voice chat through the app as this thing is designed for flexibility. The alternative would be to have headset jacks in every controller and for you to unplug and change every time you switched configuration and to have it all work seamlessly.
I get people saying this should be a pack in and I get people saying it's expensive however every video I've seen of this in action everyone seems to be having a tremendous amount of fun with it. Even the spectators have massive smiles on their face. The problem for me is if I do host a party or indeed go to a party I tend to spend my time drinking and talking to people. I think if I pulled out a games console I'd be universally shunned.
I think the Switch has a fantastic opportunity to really take off. Once it's out in the wild and in the hands of gamers everyone will be able to see first hand how good this concept is. Imagine your sat behind someone on a bus tram or train, you're playing a crappy flappy bird clone on your phone and they're rocking Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on their Switch. I'd be so jealous I'd have to get off at the next stop to pick one up. That said my preorder has been in since November so I'll be the guy playing MK8 😀

Re: The Nintendo Switch System Update is Live, All Ready for Launch
Time zone differences and postal delays should keep the server traffic moving over the weekend.
Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
Are we getting reviews for the other launch titles?
Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch: Nintendo's Most Important Console Yet
The Telegraph gave it 4/5. Price and lack of pack in title let it down. Both of these things don't bother me so I'm proper excited.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Either that or a pre-planned strategy in order to keep people talking about the Switch right up to launch.
Re: Snipperclips Confirmed For European Nintendo Switch Launch
@OorWullie I said to myself I'm only getting two games at launch because I don't want to overload myself. I'm currently up to five. Damn you Nintendo!

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Or glass half full Nintendo are constantly surprising us with great announcements right up to the launch day.
