UPDATE #2: Amazon is now sending out emails saying the digital price was incorrect and that orders are now cancelled:
The price for 1-2 Switch [Switch Download Code] (ASIN: B06WP39XBN) was displayed incorrectly when you placed your order XXXXXXXXXXXXX.
Despite our best efforts, with the millions of items available on our website, pricing errors can occasionally occur.
In our Conditions of Use and Sale (see http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=1040616), we state that where an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, cancel the order and notify you of that cancellation.
Your order has now been cancelled. If you still want to purchase this item, please place a new order which will be charged at the correct price, when we dispatch it to you.
We're sorry for any inconvenience caused and hope to see you again soon.
UPDATE #1: Amazon has now removed the listing. Boo! Did you get your order in before this happened?
ORIGINAL STORY: Amazon currently has the digital download version of 1-2-Switch listed for £1.99, despite the fact that the retail edition is currently available for preorder at £34.
We'd imagine that this is a mistake, but if you want to put it to the test, by all means add it your basket.
Just note that as this is a preorder price, Amazon isn't obliged to actually sell you the code for £1.99 come launch day (Amazon's preorder guarantee means you get the lowest possible price if it drops between when you place your order and when it launches).
Still, 1-2-Switch for less than £2? That would certainly stop people grumbling about it not being a pack-in.

At £1.99 it's over-priced...
...but I'll take the hit and give it a punt.
Order limit of 3 per account. Don't ask me how I know that
@Damo Wouldn't not selling for that much if you preorder now go against the preorder price guarantee though?
Its only available for people in the UK... But it says there is a preorder price guarantee, so they shouldn't respect the price.
Damn, I should find a UK address and try it.
Still a bit pricey.....
I would totally buy it for $1.99 here in the states.
o_O Say whatttttttt!!!!!!!!!
Haha thanks for the tip! If I do get this for £2 it'll be an awesome deal.
Giving it a shot. If they correct it in the order due to it being a mistake I can always cancel. I wasn't going to buy this anyway.
Thanks for the heads up! Order placed, it's worth a try.
@Grumblevolcano @Dakt
"Pre-order Price Guarantee: order now and if the Amazon.co.uk price decreases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lowest price."
That's for the price going down. If this is in error and the price rises, that doesn't cover you.
@Dakt
But Amazon UK is. The codes and that price is only for people with address in the UK. The address I use is in the US.
The Switch is region free and yet I can't pre-order it from the USA because Amazon.co.uk doesn't allow it. Darn it.
Anyone willing to let me use their European address to buy the code?
Pre-order price guarantee doesn't apply in case of mis-pricing, but we'll see how this turns out. Worth a punt at least
@Dakt @Luna_110 @Mechageo
Yeah, Switch is region free but that doesn't necessarily mean a code from Europe would work on the NA eShop... Still might be worth trying...
@PHDragoon
Hmm, you've got a good point... Damn. Guess I'll have to pass this one.
Damn can't order now
Got it! Wonder how long it'll stay up?
saying system error so not letting me order
It's over. I just tried it from Germany. Man, that would have been awesome!
Unavailable in UK
Gah..its gone now
It let me buy and is showing in my orders tab. Maybe they've realised their error.
just went unavailable, i doubt they'll honour those who bought it
Same here, just as I was about to order it. :/
I think Amazon have taken this down now, I think. Shame though
Phew. Thank god for one click ordering!
how long do codes remain viable? I'm not getting a switch at launch but managed to preorder this at the £1.99 price
They're unavailable now. They were probably all bought up by scalpers.
Amazon can't possibly be honouring this? On the other hand it's not like there's something physical to lose..
@gspro15198 in theory as long as the game is available to download. In any case I'm sure someone would give you a tenner for the code on eBay. If they honour it it'll save me £38. As I'm using Game UK credit I'll have to think of something else to buy now.
I was too late.
Currently unavailable
Nintendo has struggled in the UK - getting these out cheaply could up interest without courting controversy by making it a UK-only pack-in.
Something similar to this happened with something I bought a while ago. I forget what. They cancelled the order. Dont expect them to honour this.
Boo Unavailable, changed before my eyes
@Subtle24 Do you know how long do they take to cancel it?
Yushhhh, I got in earlier ... now lets see if it is honored.
I bought 3 but I am the only person I know getting a switch, maybe I'll give the spare codes out on here
Got it. But not necessarily getting a Switch at launch...
shinobi87 is a hero
@Damo How did you find out about this? Came and went pretty quick it seems.
@Beta. It wasnt long. Within a couple of days or so.
If anyone managed to grab more than one and Amazon honours it, I would be more than willing to pay you a fiver for one code
Boo. I was about to setup a UK Proxy and order it
@mateq You are not the only one
@Bunkerneath If it stays that price I'll give my spare ones away for free. Actually no, tell you what , as people have already stated £5, i will pick 2 people nearer the time , ask they make a £5 donation to a charity of their choosing ( and prove it ) to get the codes
@shinobi87 sounds good to me!
dam that would have been amazing something tells me amazon wont be honouring it though.
I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon canceled orders of more than one.
this has happened to me before getting a cheap pre-order cancelled. Theres no way they'll accept a massive loss and the fact its unavailable suggests a fair few people probably got the code
Still about £1.98 too much.
Surely a mistake. Amazon are better than most at honouring their slipups but we'll see. There was 1 left when I clicked on it, got to the next page and it was gone.
How can a digital version be "currently unavailable"? Even if they were allocated a certain number of codes I suspect this was a mistake and Amazon realised the error. There's not even the option to set up a stock alert (obviously they'll receive more stock). Good luck to those who managed to pre-order.
Not got an email confirmation even though it's showing in my orders tab. Come on Amazon, you made a mistake now honour it.
On my Amazon order page it is still the £1.99 but the status of the order is " Pending Verification "
I'm interested to see if they deliver that code.
I won't go along with the comments that I'm certain say that's what price it's worth. I would actually give it a try for 10-15, because I know it took money to make. But it would really only be a game that was touched when my girlfriend had her friends over and they wanted to play.
@Dakt @Damo
Interesting find, I never paid much attention to the "mispricing" clause. Yeah that sounds like that would undo this if it's indeed an error. It makes sense. You get the lowest price it was intentionally set to but not accidental pricing errors on the page.
@Dakt That and games from Europe generally have more language options compared to that of NA.
@Mellor2000 Amazon is probably concerned if they honour it people will complain and they will get some bad publicity if they don't honour it for everyone. That in turn would cause some additional issues if people outside of Europe try to rush that offer as well.
EDIT: Nevermind it seems that you can't order it from the US.
I don't think Amazon will take such a big loss. It all depends on how many people managed to order before the mistake was noticed a few dozen is enough for Amazon to take a hit for good press but a few hundred or even thousand is a big loss and thats before factoring all the preorder price guarantee orders. At least 1 2 Switch will get good sales now 😉
Completely off topic but I'm in a Friday mood .... am I the only person who loves playing MH4 Ultimate / Generations online co-op absolutely hammered ?
@shinobi87 Tried that with Nioh the other day...frustrating times.
Let's be real: this is the price 1, 2, Switch should be anyway. Not priced like a real game. For God's sake, Nintendo!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE We get it. A game that you aren't interested in is worthless. I wonder what your opinion is of people who might actually enjoy it.
@Ralizah Wouldn't be the first time. Wii Sports was sold separately in Japan for about $20 US if I remember right (did not come as part of a Wii purchase). It also sold fairly well in Japan too for something that wasn't a pack in (3.77mil copies).
@gcunit You're right, Nintendo should be paying us to get the game.
@gcunit "At £1.99 it's over-priced..."
Well, program a load of mini games based on and properly working with advanced force feedback yourself... and no, this isn't a "let's see you do better" reply. It's a "let's see what price YOU will name for your work then" one. XD
I ordered two myself- one for me and one for the founders of my local streetpass group as they're in work. Amazon have three ways they can deal with this-
1) Stick by the t and c's saying it was a pricing error so it doesn't come under the pre-order price drop guarantee and cancel all of the orders made. This would make them extremely unpopular and sales of the game would plummit which Nintendo wouldn't like. On Amazon's part though they wouldn't lose money.
2) Amazon admits it's an error and follow in game seeks's footsteps and honour the price. It will mean a loss for them but it will look favourable for them and sales of the game will be up which makes Nintendo happy even if they also take a hit moneywise.
3) Honour the price but for one code only with any extra ordered being cancelled. Amazon and Nintendo would still lose money but people would be more accepting since the copy they have for themself will be super cheap. Amazon would look good and Nintendo shifts some units which is good for figures.
I really hope they go for number three as if i lose the other copy, i still have one i can show off at our switch event in March and it'll save me £32 by cancelling it on Argos (doing a pay monthly thing for the Switch). If they do the first i won't be upset as it was clearly a mistake and at least i tried haha. Option two would be nice but it'll be too much money lost so not expecting that at all.
@bouncer0304 they went for option 1.
Just had an email. They've admitted it was an error and cancelled the order!
@nhSnork How they value their work is irrelevant to me. Only thing I'm concerned about is how much the finished product is worth to me.
Hah! Relisted at £39.99 - good luck with that...
Yeah. Order cancelled by Amazon. :'-(
Amazon.uk why
@shinobi87 Oh yeah, I think I remember playing with people doing that on the original PS2 MH... lol
The price it should've been from the start.
@Joker13z Me too. $1.99 definitely would've made me buy the game.
Wow, Amazon... Guess you want to... Milk everyone who tried to preorder for all they're worth. I bet less than 5% of everyone who was going to buy it will still do so now...
#salesnumbersjustgotrekt
@Ralizah Yes. Anything below $10 is pretty much the time I'll buy that.
@gcunit the product's personal worth to YOU is something to define whether you'll buy it, and nothing else. Which I bet is a choice I bet you've long figured out by now.
I assumed this was a prank done by SLIGEACH_EIRE
Trololololol: That price would have been just right...just!
I wouldn't even want this free. I have said it before and I stand by what I said,there should be a mini game for it where you throw this turd in a trash bin
No cancellation here yet but assuming its only a matter of time! Still getting the game, will be fun at family get togethers I reckon
Not gonna lie, I was tempted to get in on this but was unsure if UK codes would work in Canada. Given that the Switch is region-free, I thought it could be a possibility but that's likely just for physical media and not digital codes bought from other countries. Still, this is an interesting pricing glitch.
Amazon are attention seekerd. They did that simply to get attention, as soon as they got it they pretend it was a mistake.
sorry to everyone you tried and failed to get it for 2 pounds, rip
About twice the price I'd pay for it!!
You can't properly judge how good a game is that you haven't played. Not much point trying to guess how much it's worth.
@retro_player_22
What? Do you really believe Amazon needs attention?
Considering it has less games than base game Mario Kart 8 has chaaracters, I certainly don't think it's worth £34.
Wow people are harsh. Believe it or not there are people who enjoy party games like this, I don't but I accept others do. This WOULDN'T be worth $2 (or £) because everyone who worked on it literally would be taking a huge loss. That's not how economics work. Nintendo AND Amazon make more money by not honoring this error - sales are irrelevant if it just puts a butt ton of copies on the market for cheap, people who actually would pay for this will just buy it cheap from someone else. And believe it or not, there will be people buying it. Maybe it won't be a smash hit but they'll still make more money than making this 2 bucks - I'm sure it will get a sale or price drop soon enough and I may take advantage of that. Heck, it may be fun at parties, which is sorta what it's meant for.
Boourns
Amazon also pulled similar sh*t with the most recent Fire Emblem. Admittedly, it wasn't available for pre-sale at £1.99, and I'm fairly sure they weren't expecting effectively three separate titles, but it still HURT (my wallet)! :'-(
Isn't 1-2-Switch bundled with the Switch?
@ga3tr0n
No, it is not. There is not going to be bundled game at launch.
Generally I would say the business should honor their customer however, the price was clearly a mistake and those who ordered 1, 2, Switch at that price very well knew it was an error so Amazon is in the right cancel orders. I know everyone like's great deal as such, but you don't have the right to complain you know very well the price must be a mistake.
I remember them messing up the price of a wii u preorder before it was released, I did order one but needless to say they cancelled the order once their mistake was realised. . I'm guessing this type of thing must be fairly common when you consider the amount of products they sell
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/06/amazon_removes_p19999_wii_u_listing
Should be that price in the first place
They nailed the price though...I'd pay that. Maybe 3£. Definitely Not more than 5.
Might as well call this game Price Switch.
