Re: Sakurai Says Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next DLC Fighter Really Will Be The Last One

AvianBlue

@Pak-Man
I don't think the next smash needs to have 80+ characters.

Unpopular opinion here but I would reduce duplicates such as marth/Lucina or mario/Dr Mario or Link(s). Create a quality roster of characters that are wholly unique. Then smash can become a service like Fortnite seasonal content or they can focus on a sub space mode to differentiate.

I wonder if smash bros could thrive as a 3D arena brawler akin to powerstone?

Stranger things have happened. Looks at DC vs Mortal Kombat. The final smash can be a friendship fatality or babality from the censored SNES games. It definitely will add to the humor of the game.

My guess for the last Smash character is some obscure Nintendo character like Takamaru which will lead to a revival game by Sakurai like he did with Kid Icarus.

Re: Back Page: To All The Low-Level Enemies I've Slaughtered

AvianBlue

I remember my first time playing Devil May Cry (I started with 3) on PS2. I thought for sure it would be like any other game where they start you off easy.. Nope! Not Devil May Cry. I preceded to get beat 15+ times before finally beating a scythe wielding character at the end of stage one. Needless to say I felt accomplished and promptly quit after one success.

Lol in some games the grunt enemies throw down. Either that or I just sucked at that game.

Re: Sonic Prime Concept Art Gives A Sneaky Look At Upcoming Netflix Show

AvianBlue

@jcboyer515

From the makers of Donkey Kong Country Returns and Metroid Prime.... Retro Studio takes Sonic Prime to the next dimension

😂

On topic, I like the concept art. I would like a Sonic game set in Mobius. I don't know if the comics are canon but I enjoyed some of the characters like Sally the Deer and the Bionic bunny whose name escapes me.

Re: Dark Fantasy Metroidvania Ender Lilies Launches On Switch Today

AvianBlue

Can we stop calling or comparing all games as Metroidvania or Legend of Zelda?

While it can be a positive description for a game it could also be detrimental to a game and set it or you up for failure/ disappointment. (Looking at you Okami)

I do understand that Zelda and Metroid are genre defining but still....

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

AvianBlue

I like to think of games in the terms of food. Think MCDonald's value chicken sandwich versus chick-fil-a chicken sandwich. Sure they are both sandwiches but the quality and differs. Also brand recognition matters.

Shovel knight is not the prestigious media darling that Metroid is. That's like apples to oranges, Rockefeller money vs Katy Perry money.

Ultimately it doesn't hurt to have discussions about game prices but don't expect a company to devalue their products because you don't see value.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Delivered An Excellent E3 Direct For Fans Old And New

AvianBlue

This is what happens when you listen to unsubstantiated rumors. Also Ninty could have announced a game for every single franchise they have and people will complain: port, rehash, cash grab/should've been dlc, or uninspired. Not to say that any of those terms are not true. Lol I just find the fan base interesting because we actively beg for ports over new games.

Re: Shantae Developer WayForward Is Making Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp

AvianBlue

I don't like Wayforwards art style. I do however think that the Megablocks/lego 3D graphics keeps the game bright snd cheery.

My first introduction to advance wars was Days of Ruin which took on a darker color scheme. Definitely enjoyed the story in that game.

Compared to fire emblem I like that this game doesn't usually have individual units you get attached to. In fire emblem that attachment /permadeath causes me to reset a lot.

Re: The E3 2021 Awards Winners Are In, But Nintendo Lost Out

AvianBlue

@DragonEleven
Hmmm... Best presentation as in how the content was presented? I would agree that Microsoft edged out Nintendo. As I said in another post the Nintendo directs have lost their magic/production values.

I felt the lead-in intro to Metroid 5 was weak. They should have just showed the trailer and let the game speak for itself instead of saying, " here is Metroid, take a look".

Re: Random: What's Happened To Bayonetta 3, Platinum?

AvianBlue

Idk why but Babylon Falls reminds me of Pandora's Tower on Wii. I hope the Switch gets more original games not in an established franchise. I really enjoyed every game in the operation rainfall campaign.

As for Bayonetta 3 it will come. We shouldn't have to be reassured as frequently as we are. I'm also certain that Platinum knows exactly what direction they want to go with the game.

Tbh they could just port the first two games again or rehash it and you all would be happy.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Nintendo Direct At E3 2021?

AvianBlue

The games were great for the most part. I didn't care for the presentation's lack of production value. This might just be the way Directs are under the new Nintendo President. Idk... something was magical about the directs under Iwata. They had more personality.

Given the pandemic and how E3 was as a whole I don't think anyone should have expected brand new triple A games especially since Nintendo already has several that we know about in production.

Re: There's A Zelda Game & Watch Coming This Christmas

AvianBlue

Just curious about the disappointment of this anniversary for Zelda or any franchise. Is it really that big of a deal that Nintendo didn't make a big hoopla out of Zelda's 35th anniversary? What are the rules to anniversary celebrations. Is it every 5 years? 10 years? 25 years?

Regardless, a new game is in the works and the 40th anniversary is coming soon.

Re: Talking Point: E3 Leaks Are Inevitable, But Do You Actually Want To Know?

AvianBlue

@Sam_TSM
I think you nailed it. E3 generally creates a game news drought and is not needed anymore. Games can be revealed when ready.

It may benefit E3 to change from a game expo for future releases of games. Instead, E3 can be a celebration of gaming. This could be a Game Awards show, e-gaming tournament, cosplay festival, or concert. The benefit of this is it alleviates the games news drought and allows for the event to be big enough for some companies to announce games like the games award show on spiketv.

Re: Talking Point: E3 Leaks Are Inevitable, But Do You Actually Want To Know?

AvianBlue

@chardir
Having said that do you think Nintendo will reveal Newly developed AAA games we haven't heard about especially given the pandemic.? They have already announced quite a few AAA games that still haven't seen the light of day:
*Metroid
*Bayonetta
*Splatoon 3
*Zelda

If those games are not releasing soon it would be intriguing for them to show us more AAA games that won't release until 2022.

Re: 11 Nintendo Switch Games To Watch From Guerrilla Collective Showcase Day 2

AvianBlue

@Mystique

You might be on to something. I almost want to say it's a quantity over quality thing but that wouldn't be fair seeing as I haven't played any of these games.

I think for me it's how the games are being presented. "Hey we have 35 games coming to switch this year. Let's run through them really quickly "

I think if these games were dispersed over time instead of being information overload they would get an appropriate time to shine.

Re: Metroid Prime 4 Was First Announced Four Years Ago Today

AvianBlue

@fafonio
I disagree with the first part. I don't think you have to maintain the loss of weaponry as a mechanism for it to be Metroid. Accessing new area delays can be triggered by environment or enemies.

After a while it's going to become ridiculous if Samus loses her power ups every time she steps on a new planet.

As for the multiplayer you might be right... but I still would like to see it even if it was a spin-off game

Re: Metroid Prime 4 Was First Announced Four Years Ago Today

AvianBlue

I'm hoping Metroid Prime 4 does something radical. Almost as radical as Other M or Breath of the Wild.

I would like to see it go third person shooter instead of first person. Or at least the option to do so by pressing select.

I also want them to ditch the tired narrative of Samus losing all her abilities or needing authorization to use her abilities 😉. She should just come out guns blazing.

I think it would be neat to see new weapon types outside of ice, plasma, etc... How about a portal gun to warp objects or enemies for puzzles? I don't remember if the other Prime games had Xray, night vision, or thermal visors. If not those should be included too

I think it should also have multiplayer so that it can tap into the fps audience. I'm curious what Metroid would look like with multiplayer built into single player campaign but I wouldn't expect for it to.

Re: Feature: Our Predictions For Nintendo's E3 2021 Direct

AvianBlue

I would like to see the return of some of Nintendo's blue ocean games like Endless Ocean. Or maybe pushmo, Dillon, codename steam, sakurai samurai.

Kid Icarus Uprising 2 should be a thing too but highly unlikely.

Nintendo now owns Next Level Games so maybe a New Punch out, Mario Sports Game, or realistic sports game to fill in for the lack of quality EA Sports games.

From 3rd parties specifically capcom I would love to have a Power Stone 3.

Re: Netflix Is Reportedly Eager To Expand Into Video Games

AvianBlue

I love the idea of Netflix joining the gaming industry. It would probably result in more games and hopefully more variety and diversity. My only fear with Netflix is that they would be as ruthless as they are with their television series as they are with their games. Meaning that they generally don't allow enough time for a show to cultivate an audience before they cancel it. That would be terrible for games.

Another benefit of them joining the gaming industry might be that they would import and translate games. (Possibly even offer subs for those that enjoy that)
