Be honest, when you think of video games, who do you think of first? It's not Mario or Master Chief, of course — it's Jeffrey Lynn Goldblum, the stylish, eccentric actor who is perhaps best known for his roles in Jurassic Park and Thor: Ragnarok. And we're not alone: Geoff Keighley, master of ceremonies for almost every gaming event ever, has apparently pulled enough strings to get Mister Goldblum on the stage for his Summer Game Fest. Two Jeff/Geoffs in one room?! Truly, this is the best E3 ever.
Jeff Goldblum has been in multiple games, most often as the voice of Dr Ian Malcolm, his Jurassic Park character, but also as Nero Blackstone in Call of Duty: Black Ops III, a very evil man with an almost laughably evil name.
In fact, when you search "Jeff Goldblum video games", the first link (at least for us) is JG talking about video games, with quotes like "I know nothing about gaming" and "I've never played a video game in my life". Then again, that was in 2019. Maybe he's played one since.
The second link is Jeff doing video game impressions, if you've ever wanted to watch one of Hollywood's greatest actors say "EA Sports: it's in the game" and then lick his lips threateningly.
So, will Goldblum be better or worse than Keanu Reeves and whoever they manage to get for the next Big Sports game? Let us know in the comments.

Life Finds A Way.
Love that quote
I will only accept celebrity cameos if Zelda Williams and Keanu Reeves host a conference together
I honestly couldn't care less about celebrities no matter what list on the alphabet they belong to, I just want folk that appreciate gaming.
@GrailUK I think they should get YouTube gaming personalities like Scott the Woz, Gawr Gura, and Callmekevin. Actual people who will care about these showcases and who the fans will recognize.
Good or bad I am sucker for Jeff Goldblum, Jurassic Park is my favorite movie of all time and he is great in it.
While I love Jeff Goldblum, does he belong in E3?
@Dpishere I Rewatched it a few days ago and its still brilliant!
@Just_2_milky No he doesn't at all, no argument there. Unless he is there to promote a new Jurassic World Evolution sequel I would say no
@Just_2_milky I have seen the movie dozens of times, am currently reading the book too.
I just want to watch games so I don't really care, but hooray for people that do.
This usually doesn't end well, it makes the presentation really awkward
@iLikeUrAttitude luckily, Jeff Goldblum's whole thing is being awkward, and he's quite good at it! I just hope he isn't given a weird script. This has the potential to go well, or really badly, you know?
@iLikeUrAttitude The awkward compilations are one of the things I look forward to around E3 time.
Well I guess no-one watches the events for their industry anymore, so they've got to try and invade somewhere else to stay relevant.
Jurassic World 3 game?
I hope Brie Larson hosts the Nintendo E3 Direct, so that everyone here loses their s**t.
Keighly and Kojima should just get a room at this point. Both want to get in bed with Hollywood enough.... Just do it.
Jeff Goldblum belongs everywhere
If someone watches E3 for the celebrities they’re doing it wrong.
E3 could just be a 2 hour montage of trailers and it’d be fine
Im someone who plays video games casually a couple hours a week so I am not so clued into this E3 thing. is it just a big convention for gaming companies to expose their upcoming products or is it some kind of award thing?
Honestly didn't recognize the name Goldblum but I definitely know Keighley. One celebrity I expect to see at E3 is Aisha Tyler.
She is a good actress but comes across cringeworthy during ubi- events.
@TMNHertl Yes.
Basically it's what was once an industry trade show centered around industry releases for the holidays and retail and investors along with mainstem media getting clued in. It then became a week long gaming festival of sorts, still for industry trade show purposes but also a big fan fest. Woodstock/Glastonbury for gamers. Then Sony bailed and it kind of spiraled and last year didn't exist. This year it's back, kind of.
Mostly it's a week (4 day) event where we get consolidated news from most companies not named Sony, and retailers and digital stores tend to run big sales concurrent with it along with some interviews, and the like. It's not the same without the cringe worthy arena stage presentations with memes and gaffes galore, though.
This year there's also an awards show tacked on because reasons.
Gaming is becoming one of the biggest most profitable forms of entertainment so of course celebrities are going to be cashing in on it
The Fly is peak Goldblum.
@NEStalgia ok. so it's more like NAMM or Musikmesse but for video games. Trade show with random interviews and stores with some sales and the occasionally overly cheesy presentation from actors that have fallen into obscurity.
@TMNHertl More flashy and "fest" then NAMM with less suits and lawyers, but yeah, more or less.
I read someone on reddit use the term "Goldbluming" to describe a person that got more attractive with age. I loved that.
