Here's a pleasing thought. Super Smash Bros. is now a day closer than it was yesterday, and when you wake up tomorrow it'll be closer again. We may not have a release date, but we can be confident of that, which is something — right?
Masahiro Sakurai, via the Super Smash Bros. Director's Room, continues to reveal more information and features that show a development process clearly moving forward. Notable posts last week included the unveiling of Lucario as a challenger, while rumours of Palutena as playable character — and they're only rumours at this stage — were teased a little with a screen showing a potentially new Kid Icarus-themed stage on Wii U. Outside of that we have a fun new item and more details on how Rosalina and Luma work together.
Last week's screens are below, and as always you can click on the date heading to visit the Miiverse posts in question and give them a Yeah.

That's another week of images for the new Super Smash Bros. games. Let us know what you think in the poll and comments below.
What's your favourite Smash Bros. screen this week? (356 votes)
- Rosalina and Luma create some shapes for chaos
- We haven't seen this much Beetle (or Beatle) power since the 1960s
- Palutena watches over a battle, but will she be a challenger?
- Link and Pit have a battle of the bows
- Lucario makes its entrance
- Um, I can't decide
- To be honest, I don't like any of them

Again, I get surprised by the poll results, only to notice I am the first person to vote :X
Anyway, not much to choose from, just the newcomer.
Lucario is powering up, just like a super saiyan
The Beetle was cool,but I loved Lucario.
Lucario for the win.
Lucario's nice and likely has the most attention drawn to it, but I like the Beetle item. I was so sure it would be Link's new side special though....
I actually chose "I can't decide", since I like the Beetle one, Rosalina and Lucario.
The Beetle looks like the typical item so funny to use on others and so awful to get trapped by XP
I'm sure it will make many "nice words" echoing around the globe during multiplayer battles XD
I tend to vote for every pic with Pit
Sakurai's troll pic of Palutena of course.
More pictures that don't show anything new, relevant, or unexpected.
Beatle is cooler than Lucario.
Ok wait - ike as playable, pit as playable character - were these confirmed already? I missed that one:p
@erv Only Pit.
Captain Falcon?...
@XFsWorld That's exactly what I've been doing. Lol. He's just that awesome.
Watch the power of Aura!
Lucario....
Anything with Link or Mario. That Pokemon doesn't do much for me, as it apparently does for the majority.
Lucario I guess...
Is that marth that the beetle is carrying? I didn't realize he was announced already (or I forgot perhaps).
@erv: No, that's Marth. He was already announced as a returning character.
I voted Rosalina, & Luma, although to a lesser extent I also like the Beetle Item, & Palutena statue.
Lots of cool screenshots this week! I like them all!
I can justify Rosalina's inclusion with Luma moves, but It hurts everytime I am remembered of the terrible waste of a character slot that Lucario is.
Lucario will probably mega evolve!
I'd like to see how much stronger Lucario gets after taking some damage. I never really noticed the effect in Brawl, or else I would have used him more.
I find it unfair that stages from games such as Donkey Kong Country Returns and Ocarina of Time are appearing only on the 3DS version just because 3D versions of those console games came out on the 3DS recently. They are originally been known for home consoles, it's not fair.
Besides, who wouldn't wanna play on the bridge from Gerudo valley with high quality music and graphics?
Lucario exploding with power.
@DarkKirby >More pictures that don't show anything new, relevant, or unexpected.
LMFAO!
This week showed off a NEW item, and a NEW stage. Yep. This week didn't have ANYTHING new. Lol, people like you are hard to please.
@SockoMario
Are you saying these Smash Wii U Screens hype you up for the game? Maybe you are too easy to please.
You see a close up picture of part of a stage and not even the stage shape.
And the item is not that interesting.
By relevant I mean characters people are not expecting and moves, as well as the properties of the move.
I understand they don't want to repeated the debacle that was Dojo completely and utterly having no more information to release as Brawl was continuously delayed, but the current pictures do not show information that really tells, or means that much. At most they inform people the game is in fact, still being developed.
@DarkKirby
Rosanlina's down special is new.
The beetle is new.
Lucario wasn't unexpected, but his confirmation is interesting as there was speculation that he might be replaced with Mewtwo.
For that matter, the Palutena picture is probably new, since it apparently reveals a new stage.
We actually get a good two or three interesting pictures a week.
Can't decide...
@Funny_Moblin
Gee, thank goodness the 3DS version has some stages at all. Personally, a King Of Swing-based (or a Jungle Climber-based) stage wouldn't excite me at all.
@AlexSora89 We barely saw the stage, I don't think you climb it. "Gee, thank goodness the 3DS version has some stages at all." Well maybe if some of those stages weren't made for the 3DS, they would go towards the Wii U.
I hate you so much Lucario.
@Funny_Moblin
Anyway, it's still to early to say anything at all, in my opinion. Also remember that unlockable stuff - characters and stages alike - was announced in the Brawl Dojo only after the game's release, so I think there's still a lot of hope for whatever hasn't been announced yet.
@AlexSora89 I guess you might be right, but I still think it's best to have the best in one; in the superior hardware. And not to mention that now all throphies will be scattered between systems. Billy is viewing trophies on his 3DS. Billy sees a cool trophy. Billy tells Bollo about how cool that trophy would look in HD. Same with the stages. But oh well.
@Funny_Moblin
Sorry if I overreacted a bit, but bear with me here - we're on different stances as I've been waiting for a portable Smash game for years. Then again, I would never take something away from either version because of hardware differences - as troubled as the Wii U is right now, I can't say "it's in HD, so it deserves more stuff".
A lot of gooders this week
@AlexSora89 Hey, no problem man. No need to be sorry. I have both a Wii U and a 3DS, but still, what I said may have been a bit selfish. I'm just kind of confused because Ocarina of Time especially is a game that has been known for years as a home console with epic music, yet they made a stage because of a remake 3 years ago. There are so many original 3DS games to choose from, and they choose a Zelda remake for the 3DS.
I just want you to imagine for a second playing on a big TV screen with friends, the desert bridge in HD with that quality music of Gerudo Valley.
@Funny_Moblin
I dunno, most likely Gerudo Valley will make it to the Wii U version as well, as a bonus track for Skyloft.
I was gonna pick the new Kid Icarus stage, but...
Dat Lucario...
Voted for the beatle. I think it's the first thing I've seen that made me say "oh, that's new". I like the dualing bow and arrow photo better though.
I still think it's odd that both of those photos are an an angle for a very flat 2D fighting game but oh well, I'll give the guy artistic license leeway.
@AlexSora89 you might be right. But MAN, have you heard the snomad viking theme for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze?? I want THAT track to really be in Smash Bros. Wii U
@Funny_Moblin
It most likely will, I guess. Ninty's picked a lot of good music for Brawl, so hopefully they'll do it again for SSB4.
And with these words, I'll part ways with you guys. Kirby's waiting for me to join him in Dream Land, in his neverending fights against the forces of darkness. Alex... out!
(it's 3 AM here in Italy, for the record)
@AlexSora89 Oh wow, yeah it is late! We had a good talk. Until then, and enjoy your Kirby games!
(it was a metaphor!)
ohhh I get it! Hush hush, the mushroom kingdom is asleep. No Mario tonight!
Rosalina, of course!
@SheldonRandoms You do realize that there were powerful beings before Dragon Ball right?
Seriously I'm sick of people saying that its like Dragon Ball because it isn't.
Ew Lucario.
On the bright side I can always use it as the punching bag in Training Mode.
Lucario, my favorite and best Super Smash Bros. character. ^^
@Artwark Of course I know, there's Superman, Mighty Mouse, Atom Ant, etc. Lucario looks like he's powering up, just like in Dragon Ball Z, and I made that reference for some reasons. One of them is that Lucario looks like he's powering up, just like in Dragon Ball Z. Another was in brawl, his final Smash was like doing a Kamehameha. Another reason was that Lucario has the same voice actor as Goku (thanks brawl taunts). People say that it looks like Dragon Ball is because they like it, if you don't like it, then I understand. It's the first thing that comes into mind I guess.
