Re: Junichi Masuda Remembers How A Computer Crash Nearly Wiped Out Original Pokémon Games

Andrew5678

Jeez, I'm just stressed about personal data and projects getting lost, but we're talking the fate of a company and its employees. Game Freak was losing money when they were making the first Pokemon games, and four years of work nearly going down the toilet must have been a shock. They wouldn't exist as a company if the data wasn't salvaged, let alone start developing one of the biggest game franchises out there.

Re: Sakurai Warns Smash Bros. Fans That New Character Reveals Will Slow Down From Now On

Andrew5678

So, is this in regards to the number of reveals, or in the amount of characters? And are we also talking wholly new characters, or more Echoes? I'm fine with the vagueness when it comes to reveals, but it makes the endless speculation reach a whole new level of pointlessness.

Geno and Isaac are the popular picks, and if it's them... eh, I can live with it. They're not my favorites, but if I lost my mind every time my personal favorite didn't get in, I'd be as happy as the average Smash fan Hoping for DLC for characters like Spring Man and Dillon, but I assume that's well down the line, at least until after the game goes gold, so I'll just wait and watch.

Re: Anniversary: Retro Studios Celebrates 20 Years In Gaming

Andrew5678

That same "Peekaboo..." is still pinned on their Twitter, and it's driving me nuts. I am SO curious to know what they're up to and what's taking so long. Have they been scrapping projects? Did they decided to move something from Wii U to Switch due to the better hardware, ala Pikmin 3? I've got a feeling we'll get our answer soon, but only time will tell (hoping for a new DK game with King K. Rool and the Kremling Krew)

Also, congrats to Retro Studios for Dark Samus' inclusion in Smash!

Re: Nintendo Switch Now Supports Digital Game Sharing, But There's A Catch

Andrew5678

For context, if I wanted to use this as a means of sharing my (digital) purchases with a friend, how would that work? Would they need to make a new account separate from their own, and log in with my user information after deregistering my account? I understand some of it, just not the initial steps I could take to start this.

Also, slight bummer that I can't share physical games, but with the way this system works, it makes sense.

Re: Opinion: What Did You Think Of Today's Nintendo Direct?

Andrew5678

Honestly, it seems like the only bummer was the Online Service announcement (going by the Youtube vids ratio), and I kind of attribute that to the announcement not really giving any new information, including the deals for account holders-which they explicitly mentioned they'd bring up later.

Other than that, this was really an amazing Direct. The Online itself is okay, and the door is at least open to some 3rd party games (guessing a bunch from the NES Classic). Plenty of games with online features and local co-op, including a new update for Splatoon 2, a metric TON of JRPG's, Civ 6, Luigi's Mansion 3, the Animal Crossing stuff in general-I adored it. Really, if they just made some changes or notable additions to the Online, it probably would have been perfect.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 8th)

Andrew5678

Been giving my 3DS some attention this week, and I've been getting really into Mario Picross of all things. Midway through the game, and there's a good challenge to the puzzles.

Otherwise, enjoying the Party Crash in ARMS. Picked Byte and Barq for this one. Dr.C is a great fighter, but unwieldy to use if you're new with her, and Barq tends to be hard to utilize to his fullest without experience. It's a toss up.

Re: Nintendo Website Confirms Multiple Switch Games Will Not Support Cloud Saves

Andrew5678

So, not too interested in Cloud Saving myself, but as a safety net for my save data, it seems cool. I've lucked out so far and haven't lost any consoles, but you never know.

On the games probably not getting it (I'm just assuming this is true for now) Pokemon makes sense to avoid things like infinite legendaries and the like. Splatoon 2 makes some sense, but should probably have a better solution. It's probably to avoid people save scumming to get perfect rolls, but also leaves open the possibility of losing things like your level or weapons. Dead Cells and Dark Souls gameplay kind of makes an extra save system something that can be used for cheating death right before a deadly room, and the sports titles... I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and just say I don't know enough about them to make a call.

As for whether I'll be getting it... TBH, I would have been happy if the service remained free and barebones. The voice chat app is kind of in a weird place unless they make a version used directly for Switch, and cloud saving will probably just end up as useful as life support since I never have issues with losing data. Though the "special deals" are still a mystery, I've gotten a few hundred hours out of the online as is, and I've never played most of the NES' line up, so for $20, it's fine.

Re: Hands On: Streets Of Rage 4 Is A Grand (Upper) Revival

Andrew5678

I'm unfamiliar with Streets of Rage as a franchise, but first impressions have me interested. It's very reminiscent of their Wonder Boy title in terms of art, but more detailed. It looked cool from the trailer, and with my biggest concern of the animations possibly being a bit to long being tossed out thanks to the article, I'm seeing a title with a good shot.

Re: Sony Won't Allow Fortnite Cross-Play Because "PlayStation Is The Best Place To Play"

Andrew5678

@BulbasaurusRex If Sony's not worried about Microsoft taking over Japan, they should be concerned about Nintendo. The little Switch that could is taking over top-games-sold lists, and the console sells double the PS4, Pro sales included.

Japan certainly isn't as big as the US, but it's about on par with Europe in terms of sales, so unless Sony adds a handheld attachment to the PS5, they may be in trouble there. Couple Nintendo's Switch getting more and more sales in the West, and the XBox fighting to grab their mainstream audience, then I do hope Sony's arrogance doesn't expand beyond crossplay.

Re: Mario + Rabbids On Nintendo Switch Has Sold More Than Two Million Copies

Andrew5678

@JasmineDragon There are even more cases if you look at past consoles. 3DS had plenty of big 3rd Party sellers, but even the Wii U had a handful of titles that broke a million, including smaller IP's like Yoshi-heck, it's the console where Splatoon debuted, and that had 4 million sales on a console that only sold 13 million units.

Established franchises have better odds, but that's the case with any series out there, and it's not an automatic success because of that. I think it's more fair to say that games similar to Nintendo titles have a better shot, but Doom and Skyrim doing well enough for Wolfenstein 2 and Doom Eternal to come to Switch prove it's not a rule. Make a good game, get some good ads (paying for it helps, but you typically can't buy good reviews, those tend to be earned) and you've got a fair shot.

Re: Get Up To 50% Off Top Nintendo Select Titles In North America Right Now

Andrew5678

Animal Crossing and Link to the Past are tempting, but those are titles I can grab physically. Picross 3d Round 2 has been on my eye for a while, but the price was a bit steep-until now! Got 113 point on my account, and I'm about to put them to good use!

EDIT: Also, just discovered the existence of Mario's Picross, so it looks like I have even more puzzle goodness to enjoy on my 3DS yet.

Re: Review: de Blob 2 (Switch)

Andrew5678

Ah, I love roaming through these levels, and just painting everything afterward to bring the world to life and ramp up the tunes, always a good time. This and the original are definitely getting on my Switch as soon as I grab a memory card for them.

Re: Illegal Game Sharing Site Mocks Nintendo's Recent Legal Actions With Trolling Video

Andrew5678

These comment sections always draw the line between "die-hard Nintendrones fighting for The Man" and "Downtrodden Consumers fighting against the Corporation". Personally, I lean towards the side that has legal standing-as in, Nintendo technically owns these titles, and can do whatever they want with them.

Not that I care much, these sites always pop up, and plenty of people are brave and stupid enough to keep putting ROMS up while drawing attention to themselves against the company notorious for taking down ROMS (because I'm sure no other company has EVER done this before). BTW, nice job to the emulator aggregator site for putting a spotlight on you and everyone else selling these ROMs, I wonder if Nintendo will be kind enough to ignore what everyone's doing THIS time around

Re: Exclusive: Here's What King K. Rool's Creator Thinks Of His Appearance In Smash Bros. Ultimate

Andrew5678

Forget Dixie, it her knee-pads that need to be in Smash. This guy knows where his priorities are.

Honestly, I can only imagine how surreal this is for Mr.Mayles. I didn't grow up with Rare, but I do know they were a gaming powerhouse in their hay day, and pretty much defined a majority of the DK series, making a lot of friends and foes, K. Rool included. While he was more or less cut out of the process, the praise he's giving really shows how well Nintendo did with this interpretation. I myself haven't been too familiar with K. Rool, but the Smash iteration has me interested-he looks about as beastly as they come!

Curious about him and the Kremling Krew coming back in a new title. Retro's been dead silent for years, and Nintendo never lost the rights, so if they've been working on something in secret, now's as good a time as any for a reveal. Also, Banjo's probably welcome in Smash, I imagine it comes down to Microsoft and... eh, I don't know. They're a direct competitor to Nintendo (more Sony, but they're all console manufacturers) but it's not as if Microsoft has anything to lose. I don't have any hopes, but I also, can't see a major reason that B&K would be kept out of Smash.

Re: Review: Morphies Law (Switch eShop)

Andrew5678

This is definitely looking like a very interesting title. Rough around the edges, but from seeing some gameplay, I can tell there's fun and silliness to be had. Looks like it's at least worth a shot, and if the Devs stay the course and keep working on it, avoiding something like microtransactions, I can see this becoming really great, but for now, it looks like a fun time on its own.

Re: Praise The Sun! Dark Souls: Remastered On Switch Has A Confirmed Release Date

Andrew5678

@NEStalgia With Pokemon, i really don't understand the hate against the motion controls. Of all of the ideas behind it, does throwing a Pokeball really seem that obtuse? Especially when you can just flick the controller??? Even if I did care about looking silly (laugh all you want, motion controls in ARMS rock) this is hardly the most absurd application of motion controls.

As for the wild Pokemon system for Let's Go, I recall Sun and moon dabbling a bit with it, having Pokemon rustling through grass and actively chasing a player. I can imagine a happy medium of having Pokemon actively running around or hidden through grass while bringing back the standard fighting for them, ala the traditional formula.

Re: Feature: What's Left To Be Announced For Smash Bros. Ultimate On Switch?

Andrew5678

@g_ruz I'd be down with either if ARMS does get repped. Springtron is pretty much Spring Man, but a bit weaker, without a permacharge, but has an extended charge he gets from his super shockwave. Really, the only thing I'm worried about is balancing his shockwave for multiplayer fights-how big do you make it so that it's not annoying, but still affective for it's purpose? It doesn't seem like a huge deal, but I imagine it'd take some tweaking before they got it down.

Re: Feature: What's Left To Be Announced For Smash Bros. Ultimate On Switch?

Andrew5678

This is about as good as you can get for speculation. Trends in Smash representation and fighter selection aren't set in steel, but they're the best we've got to make educated guesses.

I'm still hoping on to my top 3, Spring Man, Dillon, and Chibi-Robo, even if the latter is a long shot. Spring Man is the face (along with Ribbon Girl) of Nintendo's premiere Switch fighting game, Dillon's got a trilogy of games to work with and is the most famous of the 3Ds eshop games, and Chibi-Robo has a cult following, and manages to keep coming back despite never getting huge sales. I'll admit, my pick for Chibi comes a bit out of sympathy, but I'd love to see him using his Zip-Lash moves to team up with the Belmont's

While trophies, stages, and music from series' getting into Smash are nothing to scoff at (just a little representation for hidden gems like Ever Oasis and Sushi Striker would be cool) fighters are inevitably the big attention-getter and draw, so while I'll be satisfied at minimum with everything else, I'm still going to hold onto hope that my picks make it in.

Re: Feature: What's Left To Be Announced For Smash Bros. Ultimate On Switch?

Andrew5678

@MH4 Part of me has a slight hope that more stages might be announced just because of how the stage layout in the menu isn't even-if they wee keeping it to this number, I assume that they'd probably want to center the bottom row rather than leave it as is. It's reaching, and I could be wrong, it's just a minor detail that feels a bit odd to me.

Still, no more stages doesn't equate to no more characters. I keep saying it, but timing is the only thing holding Spring Man back. And even if he doesn't initially get in, there's always a possibility of DLC, after the game launches.

Re: Nintendo's Recent Legal Action Against ROM-Sharing Sites Scares Major Player Into Removing Downloads

Andrew5678

The whole argument can be boiled down to be much simpler than people actually make it. Nintendo makes a game, they own it, and can do whatever they want with it. They can sell it if they want, or not, since they own the title. It's annoying to people, but Nintendo has a right to do so.

So, yeah, Nintendo's in the right. I understand hacking if it's for games that aren't made available in the states or very old, but it's ridiculous to act like there's a major injustice here. The company didn't burn down your house, they shut down a ROM site that's illegal. Keeping old and obscure stuff available is a noble cause, but the demonization and the constant "greater good" mentality held by either side (mainly those for the ROM downloads TBH) is kind of pretentious.

I think the best debate we can have is the concern that there won't ever be another avenue for this stuff again. Really, this won't be the last place to grab stuff that's unavailable, it's just a fairly notable case. There's always going to be something willing to do this again, it's how the internet works. I get the point of reporting it, I just don't understand the response.

Re: Nintendo Spent More On TV Ads Than Any Other Gaming Industry Company Last Month

Andrew5678

I haven't really seen many ads, but I don't watch TV too often. The Mario Tennis Aces I saw online, but it was actually a really good add. Definitely one of the more striking ones O've seen recently since. I enjoyed the straight tone of it, especially when they could have easily been super campy with the idea of Mario playing tennis with a celebrity.

Also, insert salt about Aces Here:

Re: Nintendo Releases Complete Sales Figures For Its Million-Selling Switch Games

Andrew5678

@westman98 I hear nothing but good things when people get together with a Switch to play ARMS, and 1-2 Switch is doing better than anyone would have guessed. I can only imagine the fun had with a game solely built around local co-op party games with a robust experience, and years of history and refinement to it.

Whatever the case, Super Mario Party is breaking a million, easy. MP10 managed nearly 2 million on the Wii U, and I'd bet theSwitch iteration won't stop there, especially if they go above and beyond with implementing the Switch's functionality, as seen in the trailer.

Re: Nintendo Releases Complete Sales Figures For Its Million-Selling Switch Games

Andrew5678

@judaspete Spring Man and Ribbon Girl have the edge since they're on the box, and the former is pretty much the face of the game.

Besides those two, Dr.Coyle has a bit more significance than most of the roster in that she's pretty much the main villain for the game, and Smash could always use more of those. Also, her ARMS would be entirely unique to Spring Man's (no other ARMS has teeth after all XD ), and her mobility in the air would be a good counterpart to Spring Man's ground control.

Re: Pokémon: Everyone's Story Gets US Release Date, Trailer And Brand New Name

Andrew5678

@Heavyarms55 CG's big benefit is how it reminds kids of toys-specifically merchandise for Disney. I wish they'd at least experiment with some hand drawn stuff, and let people have the best of both worlds.

The movie itself looks good animation-wise, but man I am not digging Ash's eyes. Call me old fashioned (and petty since it's hardly a deal breaker), but the more detailed look always seems off for him. Color's fine, just avoid all of the extra details

Re: Switch Reignites Video Game Console Market In Japan After 10-Year Slump

Andrew5678

@NEStalgia Jeez, I just thought it was down to snobbishness, but it's more down to no one setting a standard for what handhelds count as. Just label them as console, and split hairs after estimating sales. What, are the guys obsessed with high specs on the PS and XBox afraid it'll be unfair to the 3DS when the PS4, hyped as having the most AMAZING console sales of all time barely scraped past it, and still has 30 million to go until it it reaches the Wii?

Salt aside, there is a general skew when it comes to the DS apparently having phone apps before they existed. No way to tell where it starts with applications and ends with gaming. If we're going for long-term sales though, I think the comparison hold water. Also, Switch being a hybrid, is probably the first time something that has the general capabilities of a home console has sold this well in Japan, at least recently with Japan's encouragement to be as mobile as possible. That would help with the reputation.

Well, I can't say I'm too happy with that happening. We're getting closer and closer to console power meaning nothing when the weakest of them is the Switch, which can make games look and run great in a ton of different ways. Consoles can't be customized as thoroughly as PC's, and multiple peripherals are pretty much a death sentence for them. XBox and PS are going to be even more interchangeable, being less independent systems, and more extra avenues of revenues to the big 3rd parties running the show, who are salivating at any fad that can earn a few extra bucks-including the longstanding tradition of trading in good will for short term gains.

So yeah, I can't see many benefits, and I'm hopeful this game plan is shifted away from before people realize you can get actual gaming PC's instead of imitators-possibly even cheaper with Steam sales if they want.

Re: Switch Reignites Video Game Console Market In Japan After 10-Year Slump

Andrew5678

@NEStalgia I checked the source article, and it directly references the DS Lite as being a part of when the Japanese market peaked, and in comparison to the DS line, the 3DS didn't sell as well overall. If we go by pacing of how the system sells, than the Switch supposedly having a higher average of sales through the months would show more demand and indicate a more robust market. I can't say for certain if the 3DS is being shoved aside again, but it doesn't seem as likely in this case.

Ah, so the true culprit of the rectangular style of modern consoles is revealed! It makes sense, the way exclusives worked in the early Playstation days, I get the impression that Devs had to be courted really well since they didn't have the resources for multiple avenues of gaming, making them exclusive to systems by default. I don't mind them trying to grab as many games from PC as possible, but consoles aren't PC's. They can't match up in specs or customization, so the best ways they can match up is with exclusives, unique play styles (like being on the go), or providing unique experiences like local multiplayer, which isn't as easy to have with PC's. Hopefully there's a shift away from this style, otherwise consumers will be choosing between the same two boxes with different logos

Re: US Trader Rubs Salt Into Nintendo's Share Drop Wounds With $400 Million Bet Against The Company

Andrew5678

@Ernest_The_Crab If I had to make a guess for what a Direct could entail, Dark Souls Remastered getting a release date would make sense, since it was delayed, and Activision has been "leaking" a Spyro reignited port for Switch. Other than that, Panic Button (behind Doom and Wolfenstein 2 ports) have insisted that they have other projects in the works and, with Bethesda being solid in support, I'd make a bet on the first Wolfenstein being ported-but that's as far as I want to speculate on third party games.

As for first party titles... an online focused game to release with the official service in September would make sense, but I can't think of an established IP that would fit there. Off of the top of my head, Animal Crossing has been fairly quiet, but that's a game that's a system seller, so releasing it around when Smash comes out seems unlikely.

Again, more speculation, but it can be fun to try and figure out what comes about, even when expectations can be tossed out of the window at a moments notice.

Re: US Trader Rubs Salt Into Nintendo's Share Drop Wounds With $400 Million Bet Against The Company

Andrew5678

@Ernest_The_Crab I'm actually thinking that an August/September Direct might be coming. Pure speculation, it just feels like a good time to make some announcements, and fill out the end of the year a bit more, preferably before the last three months which each have their own First Party games. There's also the Online, which people have been waiting SO long for. A Direct would be the best way to get the information out, since it'll grab the most attention that Nintendo can get.

Just guess work, though.

Re: US Trader Rubs Salt Into Nintendo's Share Drop Wounds With $400 Million Bet Against The Company

Andrew5678

Well, for what's coming, there's Mario Party, Pokemon, and Smash, games that have proven to sell at least a million units each-though sales don't usually have a direct affect on stock. Beyond that, the big selling point will probably be with the Online and any features hidden behind that, as well as it being officially available. Beyond what we know, there'll be a reveal for more free playable games, likely SOME sort of update for the phone app (I'm hoping for a Switch version to make it simpler to use) and whatever special deals and offers are given-probably just some discounts, but it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo started offering something like themes and gave them out free to users.

We'll see how this bet plays out-best to just wait and watch. It seems like even some experts have trouble keeping track of the stock market.

Re: Switch Reignites Video Game Console Market In Japan After 10-Year Slump

Andrew5678

@Rika_Yoshitake If anything, the Switch should at least get plenty of JAPANESE support, since that's where it's definitely lighting things up, and things are alright-I just want to see Square and Capcom dive in further. Western Devs are probably a mix of concern over previous issues with Nintendo consoles, working with a different infrastructure (and not just power; do you think it's a coincidence that XBox and PS4 are constantly mimicking PC's? I'd argue at least a bit of laziness) and wondering if their games will be profitable, which ties into the reasonable concern of port costs.

Re: Wall Street Analyst Warns Of Slowing Nintendo Switch Sales

Andrew5678

I don't think there's too much to the prediction. Stock never has ANYTHING to do with hat's actually happening in real life. If anything, most people should ignore it-the only thing it matters towards are shareholders who would be happy to gut the market and ruin the reputation and product quality of the company they own if it meant short term gains, rather than focus on long term.

I don't see anything killing Switch's momentum. Summer is slow for the Switch, in a time when it seems to be as slow for every other system-except maybe PC, but I don't think you can count Steam sales.

The Fall will be when the test will begin. Again, not worried, not going to bother worrying since there's no immediate Switch killer popping out. I'm more concerned about all of the multiplats (and that one PS4/XB1 exclusive) fighting for dominance in the public eye. Did I miss something, or was the latter half of the year always the Thunderdome for game releases???

Re: Nintendo's Bill Trinen Discusses The Possibility Of Smash Bros. Ultimate Demo And DLC

Andrew5678

With the current trend of games getting post launch support (including Kirby, which is single player) I can see this happening, but I hope it doesn't, mainly because of how dataminers and leakers are always happy to spoil the fun for their clicks. Otherwise, I can see some sort of online tournament being a fun time.

As for DLC, I know this is probably PR talk, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was up in the air at this point. There are a lot of unknowns, and 65 fighters to be balanced, so it's not unreasonable to assume they're busy just with that, and whatever else is under wraps. I do wonder if we'll get the content updates that pretty much every big multiplayer Nintendo game (and Kirby, curiously enough) has been getting. It's a great way to keep buzz going, but that's only assuming everyone on the team will be interested in post-launch content if they're working as hard as I assume.

Re: Nintendo's Bill Trinen Wants To Dispel The Myth That Smash Bros. Became Popular By "Accident"

Andrew5678

If Smash became popular by accident, how do we know nothing else did? Obviously, there are certain circumstances that can affect how well a game does, but even with the worst titles, just connecting everything to blind luck or fortunate coincidences does little to acknowledge whatever work was put into games that makes them work, or the weaknesses that hold them back. Even the worst of cell phone games have a certain hook to them that has more reasoning for catching on than just dumb luck. If it's just the first to hit on a certain gameplay formula, that goes a long way to setting a foundation for other games to follow, which is a big deal.

I also don't think it's connected directly to brand recognition, otherwise the game wouldn't be so hotly debated in competitive play. Sakurai's not killing himself on these games by just flailing around and hoping entries stick. Obviously the community can take the game into different directions than intended, like the crazy plays you see in Splatoon or ARMS, but that's an inevitable consequence with all games, and the reason balance patches are practically a necessity (unless people want to go back to the Street Fighter model of updating a series with new games)

Re: Review: Octopath Traveler (Switch)

Andrew5678

I'm going to be giving the demo (the latest one) a shot when I get the chance. Letting you carry over progress from said demo is just a brilliant idea that I've only heard of here and in Miitopia.

On the game itself, still undecided (though that's why I'm grabbing the demp), but happy to know that the Switch is getting a good RPG. It seems to be one of the more lacking genre's on it, so the addition to the lineup is great-especially being an exclusive. Hope it does well!

Re: Pokémon Card Artist, Mitsuhiro Arita, Talks About The Process Behind Those Iconic Designs

Andrew5678

I may have just learned about Mr. Arita, but I am DEFINITELY familiar with his art. I remember collecting and playing with those same cards back as a kid!

Also, it's interesting to learn that each card gets seven weeks of oversight on them, especially with all of the different artists and art styles around. With the process Mr.Arita describes, it sounds like both the artists and Creatures make good use of their time. I think I liked to copy some of the art on these cards to practice different styles, so I think I'll get back to that some time.

Re: GameStop Reveals That Switch Sales Doubled In The Week After E3

Andrew5678

@ThanosReXXX Stocks tend to be as arbitrary as it gets it comes to Nintendo, and other companies.

Good press, stock goes up; bad press, stock goes down.

Good press, stock goes down; bad press, stock goes up.

It always seems pretty random unless it's about the most obvious announcements, like Nintendo's various mobile phone titles.

Re: Min Min Takes On Kid Cobra For ARMS Party Crash Glory This Weekend

Andrew5678

This is tough. I want to get more practice in with Kid Cobra, but he's so weird to get back into after so long. I might go Minmin, but... I tend to be a bit contrarian by nature. I guess I'll see how I feel this weekend!

Also, I'll probably get around to grinding for badges. I don't mind the character based ones, but I kind of had to cheese it for the standard controller badges, an I'm in the middle of doing the same with the Joy-Con. I just really like motion, so going to buttons is awkward, especially because I'm never happy with how I map the controls.

Re: New Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa Receives 96.51% Approval Rating From Shareholders

Andrew5678

Shareholders tend to be about money, and Nintendo, like other companies, is ultimately a business with a bottom line. Nothing against that, but that seems to be all that they see, rather than the actual business-in this case, games. This pretty much translates to how well they think Furukawa can turn a profit, and hopefully, this is done in a way that will keep customers happy, so that they'll keep coming back to pay more money.

Honestly, I don't think much will change. He's being pretty straight with his messaging, and since he was involved with Pokemon's advertisement, and apparently the Switch's, I see why he's getting approval. My guess, he'll probably stick mostly to the background, and hopefully push for better advertising for Nintendo products (though the current quality isn't bad, I'm sure it can be improved)

Based on Kimishima's comments, the ship's on a solid path, with some other games set to push the Switch past 20 million (as if Mario Party, Smash, and Pokemon weren't enough) and mobile gaming's contributions are still in the air (I don't remember how much, but apparently, it needs to make a decent chunk of cash to be Nintendo's '3rd pillar', though I'd be fine just keeping it as side foray's for extra cash and advertising for the Switch) Unless some big shift is announced, I'd bet on business as usual for a while.
